  1. The 100 pitch thing is pure science fiction anyhow. If he's not laboring keep him in there
  2. And NOW this thread becomes a viable thread(though still probably about 2 months early). Now he can prove that his video game like numbers are not a mirage and he can prove himself at AA and should he continue to dominate...then this scenario is a lot more likely. I'd still much rather see a guy like Thornburg who actually deserves it and I think is someone who could make a difference, or Peralta, the obvious choice. But this now at least makes sense. I'm just ahead of the curve. I don't agree Thornburg, Peralta, etc. should get the first look. Don't burn their service time. Take a flyer on a guy like Burgos because you have nothing to lose. Now Burgos may pitch a couple months and if he continues his success, he gets called up then. Maybe he's exposed. I never said the Brewers WOULD bring him up quickly, or at all for that matter. I just think they SHOULD. Don't burn service time for the top prospects, bring up guys like Burgos where all you have is upside. If he fails, you have another Cholk or Dillard and you move forward.
  3. What did Castro do? Switched tv to frozen planet for a few minutes in a fit of rage over Itzturis base running.
  4. That's the point. Below avg FB even better. Proves he's not dominating like the typical A+ pitcher blowing guys away with a plus fastball. He's actually pitching, not throwing. And if you can do that in Brevard County, you can do it in Milwaukee. And if not, you've lost nothing.
  5. I see a lot of explanation about development. Of course a promotion from A+ to MLB is a huge leap. I just believe sometimes it's worth a try to fast-track a pitcher like this. Other teams do it, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The guy has an average MLB fastball, yet has a ton of Ks. This tells me he must have outstanding location with his fastball, outstanding secondary pitches, or most likely both. Since he hasn't done this before, it may not last. So why not catch lightning in a bottle and use him while he has everything working for him? Again, he is not a top prospect so there really shouldn't be any worries about damaging his ego if he fails. It's not that I would expect him to be dominant in MLB just because he has been for a short stretch in A+. Is he better than Cholk? Dillard? Or if another starter goes down, what would it hurt to take a flyer on a guy like this?
  6. I hope it's better than Braun's place. I like the ambiance there, but the food and service are very mediocre whenever I go there.
  7. Yea, don't worry pitchleague. You like what you like. Heck, I haven't even heard of most of the bands mentioned by the young hipsters in here, much less know if I like the music or not. I was an early adaptor to rap as a white suburban kid back in the 80s. Beasties were considered somewhat of a "sell-out/ not TRUE rap" back then, but I think the hip hop community slowly but surely gave the Beasties their props. And i loved them from the beginning. Rymin and Stealin, No SLeep 'til Brooklyn, New Style... outstanding! After Paul's Boutique (which was pure genius) they sort of lost me, but that's personal taste.
  8. But what's the downside? He obviously has something working now, and given his history it may be temporary. So take advantage of it while you can. No way I would do this with any of the top prospects in A+, but I just don't see a downside in doing it with Burgos. Guys like Peralta, Thornburg, etc. you want to wait until you really believe they're ready. But Burgos isn't seen as a future part of the rotation anyhow. So bringing him up would be the same downside as Fiers, McClung, etc. But the upside is much higher.
  9. Wondering what everyone else thinks about Burgos taking a big jump up to MLB. He isn't/hasn't been a top prospect, and at his age I don't think he can take a leisurely stroll through the system. I wouldn't push the top 3-4 starters in the system this way, but why nor Burgos? Seems like the perfect type of guy to bring up and see if you can catch lightning in a bottle. I don't suggest doing this tomorrow, but if there is another injury to the Brewers rotation, etc. why not bring him up and see how he does?
  10. With the talent they had last year most any High School baseball coach could have taken this team to the NLCS. Almost no injuries, just not many decisions to make ever day. In fact, the biggest decisions he had to make were mistakes. 1)Stuck with McGehee all year. and 2) Messed up the starters in the NLCS. Now it may have not made a difference in the end, but we'll never know. Don't get me wrong, I don't think RR is horrible, clueless, or worthless. At the same time I don't think he should be given an extension until he proves he can produce in less than ideal conditions. Like this year for example.
  11. In what way? I didn't catch all of it, but wasn't the gist of it that you don't have to be super tall to be a successful pitcher? I believe his exact words were "you don't have to be tall to throw hard, and you don't have to be hard to get outs." I pinky swear that's what he said.
  12. Injuries, I get it. But Chulk,Dillard, Maysonet, Izturis... This is what its come to?
  13. Musical chairs at 1B and CF, this is getting old already. Stick with Green at 1B and Aoki in CF, is that too much to ask? I beg you new Macha.
  14. Why is the BC suite deal bad for Marquette? It's because Marquette has no control over them. And that isn't going to change with the new arena, the Bucks will again control the suites and Marquette will have to fight for a small percentage of the revenue. Marquette would have more control if they invest a larger stake in the new arena though, wouldn't they? Also, I don't see how three arenas would work in Milwaukee. And with or without Marquette, I just see the BC dying a slow death. Then where does Marquette go? It is in their best interest to have a new arena designed around basketball and maximizing revenue with better suites. Maybe something like a 1/3 split between Bucks, Marquette, and City/County/State taxes?
  15. Any reason why Marquette wouldn't participate in funding a new arena? Not the main source of funding, but a significant contributor?
  16. We're not done, but needed everything to go right to be a playoff team again, much less a legit WS contender. Aside from the injuries, we're not scoring enough runs, Gallardo is struggling, the rotation in general is not good enough, and the bullpen is already over-used and not as good as last year. Beyond all that, 4 months to go in the season so it wouldn't be crazy to say more injuries are coming. It's a long season, not ready to give in. However, I do think all of this is an opportunity to play a few guys full time. Aoki, Green, and Peralta. Start Aoki full time in CF, Morgan becomes the 4th OF. Start Green at 1B, or put him at 3B at move Ramirez there. Either way, play Green full time at one of those positions. Conrad is PH, Izturis as SS and Maysonet emergency SS until they find someone better, and Ishikawa they can do whatever they want. Put Peralta into the rotation. To me, that's not waving the white flag. As long as Green is up now, he should be playing every day. With Gomez down, Aoki is a better defensive CF and arguably the same offensively as Morgan. You signed the guy for two years, let's see if he can play. Some combination of Greinke, Marcum, Wolf, and Narveson won't be in the rotation next year, so why not get Peralta the experience? If he can't do the job, better to know now. I just really believe this is the way to go instead of shuffling everyone around every game. Hart/Ish/Conrad at 1B, Shell game in the OF every night... I don't want to see that. Let's throw Aoki, Green, amd Peralta in there for a a couple months and see what they can do.
  17. I don't have a major problem with that line-up, but I would rather have Green in the line-up every day over Morgan/Gomez. I guess I'm in the monority, but I see the Narvy/Gamel injuries as an opportunity to see what we have in Peralta/Green.
