  1. .841 if I did the math right. Thanks, wow just goes to show how quickly it can change this time of year.
  2. Anyone know Braun's OPS after that double? Just curious.
  3. I will say Veras seems to get squeezed on a couple pitches every outing, incl this one. And another play Mcgehee never would have made.
  4. Gamel may have been safe. Looks like he tip-toed the corne of the plate a split second before he was tagged. Not that he would ever be called safe on a play like that. This just in...turns out those wasted opportunities earlier matter after all,
  5. Still get nervous on grounders to the left side, honestly forget for a second that Yuni and Mcgehee aren't over there anymore.
  6. Hoping someone here has already been down this path, and can offer suggestions. I have Time Warner Cable, and would like to install a TV out on my deck and watch Brewers this summer. I do have an AC outlet out there, and would simply take the TV back in the house each night. So mounting a TV isn't the issue, it's how do I get TWC on that TV? I could install an outlet and snake a cable out there through the wall. But that would require a lot of work and cursing. I'm thinking there must be something wireless that would work? If I have to, I guess I could watch it on a laptop, but would really prefer a bigger HD screen. Any ideas? (I do know Uverse has a wireless cable box of some kind, so I'm hoping TWC will have one soon?)
  7. Ok, if that's the plan I guess I'm ok with it. Only because I'll trust the organization to know more than I do concerning whther or not Peralta is ready to join the rotation for the rest of the season. I guess I saw this as an opportunity to get Peralta's rookie season out of the way, and give them a better idea on how he will fit in next year, and long term for that matter. Only one position in the rotation is "set" for next year, so it seemed to make sense to kick Peralta's tires this year.
  8. See, that's what I don't get. You ask why bring him up now, but they HAVE brought him up. Why even bother if you don't use him? Blowout tonight and he still doesn't get an inning, Is he the only other pitcher left on the 40 man? So he will only be used in an emergency until Loe is back? Only thing that would make sense. I guess we have to trust the org, they know him best and must not think he's ready. I don't want to believe its just that its Esteadas turn.
  9. Why would you bring Peralta up to piggy-back behind Estrada? Then you may as well bring up Rivas instead. Peralta is a starter, why would you bring him up and use him out of the pen? Plus, he is supposed to be a part of the future rotation. I'm glad Estrada struck gold in a few starts last year, I just don't believe he can do it again. Sure, Peralta may not do much better as a rookie, but that's the point. Let him get that rookie year out of the way now that the door is open.
  10. Yea, so we have a johhny whole-staff game that could mess up the bullpen for who knows how long instead of letting Peralta pitch, who could actually give you 7 innings.
  11. I don't buy the pressure argument. Peralta is a starter, this is his opportunity to do that. it's not like this is September with a playoff spot on the line. I sure hope he can handle the pressure of making an April start at home.
  12. Actually if Rivas was stretched out, that would have been a possibility. Now would have been a perfect time to see if he could be #5 type starter.
  13. I don't want to see Hart taking any starts away from Gamel. He needs every AB he can get- especially against LHP. It's the only way you'll know if he can hit LHP at the MLB level or not. If he were a 22 yr old rookie I may feel differently, but he's not. Aoki should get a few starts in CF, maybe give Hart off a day here and there (RR likes giving Hart days off anyhow) and then we would at least have some idea whther Aoki could be a platoon player or even full time starter at some point this year or next. Gomez may be more productive, but I really think if he played every day you would see a drop-off. Just enjoy what he's doing in his current role and don't mess with it. He's already showing signs of his old ways. Twice in the Dodgers series he swung at fastballs up at his eyes trying to hit it over Bernie's head.
  14. It really depends on the individual player/situation. McGehee is a great example. Some people kept believing all year Casey would "come around" and get close to his historical mean. The problem with that is even 1 1/2 seasons+ wasn't really enough to make his numbers valid. Then you have guys who have pretty drastic swings from year to year. You can average those years out, but that really won't be very accurate. Because history has shown he'll either do better or worse than the average stats. So, the more history you have and how consistent that history has been determines how small a sample size you need to make any sort of conclusions. For example: Ramirez and Braun you can almost guarantee their OPS will go up. Aoki, almost impossible to tell.
  15. If it's a long term injury (and it sounds like it is) then nothing other than inserting Peralta into the rotation makes sense. He's basically been "ready" anyhow, now's his chance.
  16. Lots of options. Sure you could trade Weeks, his contract design wouldn't prevent a trade. But you could also move Weeks to 3rd. Or, have Scoot start playing more SS and 3B, so he could join the roster as UT to start with. These things usually work themselves out.
  17. Gameday comment on 3-2 pitch: "Kemp is a dead-red fastball hitter on this count. 1.86something OPS" And Wolf gives him a 90 MPH fastball over the plate.
  18. He should play deeper, simple as that. Hart is still pretty effective at getting a good jump on the ball and making plays on balls hit in front of him. He struggles when the ball is hit in the gap or over his head. So why fight it? Take the Ethier approach and play deeper. Hart may have lost a bit of speed, but not a ton. He just doesn't get a quick first step and take good routes on balls deep or in the gap. He still has an average to slightly above avg arm for a RF, you don't see teams run on him in general.
  19. Actually, saw that angle 5 or 6 times now in slow mo. Morgan's foot was over the plate but not on the plate when he was clearly tagged. So he was out, but also a very tough call to make real time.
