  1. This is the type of game we'll see a bomb from Yuni or Mcgehee in the 9th
  2. Well, if we end up playing TX someone has to make it easy for RR, just tell him Cruz is Pujols.
  3. Is Kotsay in CF official for Game 3? Wow. I was excited when it sounded lie Gomez would get the start, because I think at this point he should be starting. Great defense, and a bat that may be a little better than Plush at this point. And you can still use Plush as a PH late in the game, where he thrives. I really thought RR was getting it. Sitting McGehee, shrtening the roatation and bullpen. Lots of solid decisions. But Kotsay in CF??? I just don't get that at all. As far as Marcum goes, the gutsy thing would be to start Peralta. (he would have to be on the post-season roster of course.) But that's hindsight. Not saying RR should have prepared the roster that way. Just looking back, it sure would be nice to have that option to consider. But, back to reality, I would honestly give Fiers a shot before Narveson. But I would still take Marcum over either one. I just believe he is more likely to come up with a solid performance over Narvy or anyone else.
  4. There's only a small handful of those who I would call "doom and gloom." I see them in the IGTs as well. Down 1-0 in the 1st, and the game is over. Series tied 1-1, it's all over. So yes, that exists, but it's a tiny fraction of BF "regulars." There are many others who are concerned, and have laid out very reasoned responses as to why there should be concern. I don't consider that to be "doom and gloom" at all. That's just trying to look at series objectively and pointing out the reaons for concern. At any rate, I really resent the statements (or at least insinuation) that anyone who is worried about this series for very valid reasons is somehow less of a Brewers fan than the eternal optimists. We all want the Brewers to win, or we wouldn't be here.
  5. I'm really worried we're going to be down 3-1. You can call it doom and gloom, but I just honestly see that happening. As good as Yo has been, I just have this feeling Carp will be dominant. Then in Game 3, I see no reason why Wolf won't get hammered again. Sorry if that sounds negative, but that's why I thought Game 2 was huge. RR make me feel better by flipping Wolf/Yo, but I know that will never happen. I just don't understand why you wouldn't want a clear advantage in ONE game, rather than having a disadvantage in both games. Because at that point, 2-2, I will feel a lot better.
  6. I think of this as a 2 game series. Games 3/4. If we lose both of those, it will be nearly impossible to win the last 3. So, to me, that means you have to do everything you can to win ONE of the next two games. That means letting Gallardo pitch on full rest vs Lohse in Game 4. Throw Wolf out there against Carpenter in Game 3. Just not wise to burn Yo vs Carpenter when the odds aren't in our favor. I could care less if that means Yo is pitching on 3 days rest in game 7. We have to GET to game 7. Just think it through. If Carpenter pitches lights-out like he has been, we're down 2-1. Now we have to have faith in Randy Wolf preventing us from going down 3-1? I don't like the way that's setting up at all.
  7. I disagree. Prince leraving is a foregone conclusion. Extra revenue from playoffs may help next year, but the problem all along with signing Prince to a long term megadeal is the oulying years at the end of the contract. The Brewers simply can't afford too many big, long-term contracts. And if this post-season has taught us anything, it's that this money needs to be spent on starting pitching. Besides all that, I could flip that questiona round. If the Brewers DO win the WS, would Prince be MORE likely to leave? He could look at it as accomplishing everything he wanted to do in Milwaukee, he's got a ring..now he can pursue new goals and make more money doing it.
  8. 1) If that took away his ability to pitch inside, then why did Braun get some chin music later in the game? Why did Prince have to hit the dirt? He's not alone. The talking heads on ESPN were blabbing about how the inside corner was off limits the rest of the game. Just flat-out wrong. 2) His explanation of Prince getting hit was weak, which leads me to believe it WAS intentional. I chalked it up to a breaking ball that got away from Garcia. But after listening to LaRussa say "that's where he was throwing that pitch all game long" I'm not so sure anymore. Really Tony, Garcia was throwing that pitch a foot off that corner all game long?
  9. I think Hawkins is caught in between the "finishers" (Saito/Krod/Ax) and the innings eaters (Estrada, Narvy.) So he doesn't really have a role at this point, other than when a situation arises where you need that arm. With three games in a row in St. Louis, I'm sure he'll be in the mix. But so far there's been enough off days that basically the whole pen has been available every game.
  10. Who determines who qualifies as said "experts?" Is there an appeals process?
  11. I'll repeat part of what I said earlier. I think the OP's question is a straw man question. I don't think there's one person out there who feels any sympathy for Prince Fielder. So the thread has become a re-tread of whether Prince should take less to stay in Milwaukee. Did it ever occur to anyone that money may not be the only reason he may want to move on? He lives in FL, he may want to play for Tampa or Miami. Various reports on whether wise wife loves/ doesn't like Milwaukee. He may want a new challenge. I'm sure length of contract/ total dollars involved are big part of it. But even if the money is 100% of it, what business is it of ours? So no, I don't have any sympathy, nor do I hold any ill-will when he leaves. He played for the Brewers organization his entire career, and I enjoyed watching him since Beloit. Finally, keep in mind the Brewers may not want him back- even for the $100 Million number that's been thrown around here. Now, they won't come out and say that of course, but for all we know the Brewers have already told Boras they can't/won't get anywhere close to offering Prince the going rate.
  12. It's also important to note that Braun has business relationships with Mark A. off the field. Braun wants to get involved in a lot of different business ventures, and Prince has no interest in any of that. Mark A. has the connections in the financial community and entertainment industry that can help Braun with various opportunities. That's another big reason why Braun wanted to stay with the Brewers/ Mark A.
  13. Would it make sense to throw Wolf out there vs Carpenter? I've been thinking about this a lot. I think it depends what happens in the first two games, but i almost wouldn't want to "waste' Yo vs Gallardo in Game 3. I think you want to maximize the chances of winning 1 game in St. Louis. And since baseball often doesn't go according to plan, it's not like you're giving up a game by pitching Wolf vs Carpenter. Who knows, maybe you pull off the that win, and now you have Yo coming back the next day. I think Greinke/ Marcum to start things off is the way to go. But game 3? Just not sure.
  14. I guess I don't buy the premise of the question. Who has any sympathy for Prince, and how has he demonstrated he wants any? He has been in the Brewers organization his entire career, so why can't he be emotional that it may be coming to an end? I worked somewhere for 10 years and left for a better position. I had mixed feelings because I knew I would miss some of the people I worked with for many years. How is it any different with Prince? Whether you're getting $5,000 more or $40 million more, he has a right to move on if that $40 million is important enough to him. He also has a right to have feelings about leaving the Brewers. Those two things don't have to be mutually exclusive. As a fan, I have no sympathy for him I don't think anyone does. But that doesn't mean I won't feel bad when I see the press conference with him signing a contract with another team's hat on. Finally, I don't think too many of us would pass up the $40 million given the opportunity.
  15. Not surprising, but 99% of ESPN's covg is Cards/Phils. And oh yea, Brewers win on Morgan walk-off.
  16. I'm beyond thinking, worrying, analyzing who I would rather play. It IS the Cards, so there's no sense saying we wish it was the Phillies, Braves, Astros or anyone else.
  17. I like their never ending stream of excuses, I've even used some of them to get off work. "These lights are bothering my eyes." "I don't work well during the day." Thanks Cardinals!
  18. Great to hear comments like this. What a game to experience in person. I'm really enjoying living vicariously through our BF family that are fortunate enough to attend these games!
