  1. I would say respecting the manager is far more important than liking him. Oh, and that goes for the typical workplace as well.
  2. Almost perfect. Still cant accept Lucroy buried in the 8 spot.
  3. Furthermore, I think we're naive if we believe RR doesn't play a major role in roster decisions. Sometimes people make it sound like DM makes these roster moves with zero input from RR. RR could have easily went to DM and said "Look, I love Casey McGehee but he just looks lost. I think it's time we give this kid Green a chance to platoon while Casey figures it out." Does anyone believe if he did that DM would ignore it? A good GM will try to give his manager what he wants, within reason of course. So I don't think we can give RR a free pass on roster management. Nieves, for sample, was completely a RR decision.
  4. Actually, he did. Looks like he needs to go back for a Masters.
  5. Nope. And I feel the same way about Betancourt, Kotsay, and Counsell too. I have even less confidence that a rookie, who has never seen those pitchers, would have even more success. So you don't think Green can hit better than Counsell? Is that what you're saying? You make it sound like these guys are going from Hign School to MLB. It is a step up, but not as big as you make it sound. Braun, Fielder, Weeks, Hart, etc. came up and hit right away. Look at what Lawrie is doing. What Posey did in the post-season last year. If a guy can hit, he can hit.
  6. We can debate Yuni, Kotsay, Counsell, etc. forever. Every decision is important, I'm not denying that. With that said, the biggest decisions that have affected wins and losses are: 1) Sticking with Loe as the "8th inning guy" far too long. 2) Refusing to bring up Green 2 months ago to at least platoon with McGehee. That's it, in a nutshell. #1 speaks for itself. As for Green, there was very little downside and potentially a huge upside by giving him a shot. Yuni, Kotsay, Counsell, etc. weren't expected to be major offensive contributors. McGehee was/is. That's what's really killing the full potential of this offense. McGehee had a fe huge hits over the last couple weeks, and that's great. But his OPS still hasn't risen very much, even during his "hot" streak. If Green came up when he should have, there wouldn't be any fears about having a wide-eyed rookie playing 3B during the stretch run in a pennant race. He would already be settled in by now. Put another way, no matter what McGehee does down the stretch, do you have any confidence in him facing the top of the rotation from the Phillies or Braves?
  7. Lawrie will be an All-Star, probably sooner rather than later. If the Brewers can sign Marcum long term, and he pitches like he has this year...I'll have no problem with it. Otherwise, I'll be staring at him on Baseball Tonight with jealous eyes.
  8. Does anyone know if the cut is on the inside of his thumb or outside? As silly as it sounds, I think that makes a huge difference. If the cut is where he needs to grip the ball, he'll miss more than 1 start. But if it's not, shouldn't be a big deal and I can see him missing only 1 start. Either way, it's another test of roster management. I want Peralta, but it better be anyone not named Estrada. A secondary reason for Peralta is that they may need him later this season Let's face it, the rotation has been incredibly healthy, if that changes would be nice to have Peralta with a couple MLB starts under his belt.
  9. So much for all the posts about 15 pages ago all but guaranteeing a Brewers loss....
  10. You can take our lighting away, and sign stealing mascot. But you can't stop our mind reading traveling secretary!
  11. I was screaming pitch-out on that 0-2 pitch, just knew Furcal was running.
  12. Yea, it's still hard to believe they have so many IFs that all bring almost exactly the same thing to the table.
  13. Mix in a few jumping jacks and you wouldn't have that problem Lynn
  14. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone with at least warning track power on the bench?
  15. yep; this was on my mind today. do we stand a better chance against the Phillies in a 5 gamer vs a 7 gamer? I say it's the former. Yes, but if SF plays them first, there's a chance they can knock them off first. Like last year for example. Then we have HFA for the NLCS. That's the dream scenerio.
  16. Brewers vs. Giants: 3-3Brewers vs. Phillies: 2-1 Phillies are clearly a better team, even if the Brewers were stellar defensively and on the basepaths. I wouldn't say they can't compete with Giants, they are at least as good as them. Most everything would have to go right to beat the Phillies in a series, but that's several steps down the road.
  17. Foxy, don't worry about all the crap you're getting. You were wise to search out a woman (or was it girl?) who is a Brewers fan. Stay away from women (girls?) who are Cards fans. You don't want to be accused of cheating every day do you? Or having weird lighting in the bedroom...
  18. Exactly. Of course he won't stay as hot as he has been over the past month. But he won't be as horrible as he was earlier this year either. If he can just maintain where he is now, and finish with an OPS around .680-.700, I can live with that. Not bad for the guy who should be the 8th best hitter in this lineup. A pennant race also tends to bring out the best in a lot of players. More focus, more energy, etc. I know DM doesn't value defense as much as we would like, but I can't believe he would exercise the option for next year. At least that's what helps ME sleep at night.
  19. I've heard "big game" or "big series" mentioned since June. This one isn't much different. There's over 40 games to go, so nothing will be decided this series. If either team sweeps, it's definitely noteworthy, but not an earth moving event. They're doing what's most important, taking care of the bottom feeders in a big way.
  20. I'll just add I'm sick of seeing Lucroy in the 8 hole with the likes of Counsell, Kotsay, and Lopez higher up in the line-up. Clearing the pitcher must be far more important than scoring runs.
  21. FoxyFoxes, you now know 20% of BF women (or was that girls?) Good luck.
