  1. Yes, I understand the concept of flattening the curve. And a virtual shutdown of a couple weeks is prudent. My point is it can't go on for 2 months....4...6 like many people are talking about. And social distancing at grocery stores is a half measure. The virus can still live on surfaces for 2 or 3 days depending on the material.
  2. Right. It's not as easy as a just "keep the old people away from everybody" strategy. It's "keep the 50 million Americans over 70 away from everybody." And also "keep the 26 million Americans with diabetes away from everybody." And "keep the 120 million Americans with heart disease away from everybody". Most of those are the same people. Its not 50 plus 70 plus... And nobody ever said it would be easy. It won't be 100% effective, but neither is what we're doing now. Virtually all of us are still going to the grocery store, we're not going to stop the spread. So treat people like adults. Everyone is well aware by now how serious this is if you're an at risk person. So it's up to you if you want to quarantine yourself or not. Maybe you're 60 in good health and realize chances of dying are way lower than a 90 year old with diabetes and bad lungs and say screw it I'm going to live my life. Should be a choice, quarantine if you want. Just seems to me it's the most logical approach. Also for the next one, the one after that, the one after that. We cant shut down for months every couple years.
  3. I don't think it's an overrection. I also think we can't go on this way for months or longer. We're talking about total collapse of our economy, unemployment at 20%...30% who knows. That just can't happen. Focus need to be on how to best insulate the at risk population as best we can, and the rest of us need to move forward. That would involve mass testing and we seem to be behind the curve on that. Why? We already know who the at risk people are.
  4. Yeah I mean what's the other option? Let the virus run it's course? Yes. It's running it's course anyhow.

  6. Yea, I think everyone has gone along with it so far. Just information overload in a short period of time, and a general attitude of "seems to be the right thing to do." I predict patience will wear thin at some point, and many people will wake up to their savings wiped out and/or no job. Not even a bar open to go to to drown their sorrows.
  7. Also, it's not uncommon for 2-3 generations to live together in Italy. Obviously, that increases the exposure to the elderly as well.
  8. Sorry, would much rather be bickering about why Sogard is in the lineup again in some IGT in a couple weeks.
  9. As I've read and heard volumes about this virus, two questions keep coming to mind. 1) When/ how will it be decided life returns to "normal?" CDC will always be (rightfully) conservative. Are we/ should we automatically follow their recommendations if we're still locked down after April? 4 months? 6 months? 2) This is not the last one of these. Are we going to go into lockdown for 2-4 months every 4 years? Actually, it's not impossible for a similar virus to hit every 2-3 years, even EVERY year. We're talking about destroying the economy, employment, education, entertainment, socialization, etc., as we know it. Literally going back to colonial times in a lot of ways if this were to happen every year or two. Once we get past this, some realllly tough questions need to be asked about how we handle the next one, and the ones after that. Questions about the greater good. Is all this worth the price of one person dying? Most would say no, of course not. Is that number 20? 500? 5,000? I'm not suggesting we shouldn't be taking all the actions we have, I don't know. What I do know is that as a society we'll have to determine when to get on with our lives at some point this spring, and try to wrap our heads around making the toughest of decisions next time. Our best hope is science can catch up, and react to the next virus much more quickly. Unfortunately, science always seems to be one step behind nature.
  10. About $14 million left, even factoring in the draft class. Doesn't the news CBA give them another $10MM or so in cap? Haven't trad the details yet, but thought I heard that somewhere.
  11. They have a chance to have the best NBA season ever. IF they win 70+ games and go 16-0 in the playoffs.
  12. Spectrum has a streaming service, does anyone know anything about it? I went from like 6 or 7 options down to Hulu live or Spectrum.
  13. If you are that confident, tou really should take out a lian and bet it all on the Bucks winning the East ; ) Actually I think we pretty much agree. Bucks are clearly the best in the East. But neither one of us knows if they will play that way in every playoff series. Pressure is on them, either they learned from last year or not. We'll see.
  14. You are really confident, n the verge of over-confident. The Bucks are the best team in the NBA, they were last year as well. In fact, by some metrics they were better last year. #1 in both offense and defense, better 3 PT%, Giannis better at the line, there are others. That said, yes I agree the team is better this year. Thing is, you have to prove it in the playoffs when defense is ramped up and opponents have a shorter bench. Being the best team isn't enough, you have to be the best when it counts. It doesn't matter they're a little better this year. They were a better team than Toronto last year and lot 4 in a row. Proves it's in their heads. I have no doubt they can steam roll through the playoffs, even the Lakers, if they play like they can/should. But until they do that, you have to reserve a little fear. Giannis caught between needing to be the man and taking what is given to him. Ball and players stop moving on offense. Bledsoe goes AWOL. Middleton's shot isn't on. Lots of things can happen that could derail them- especially the example of the offense not functioning like it should. Look, I'm not predicting this will happen. But we're crazy if we don't think it's possible.
  15. We could do without racial slurs around here, thanks.
  16. Regarding sharung, thats another great thing about yttv. You could share with anyone else and split the cost. $25 for most of the channels most people want. Also unlimited dvr and multiple streams.
  17. Bad quarters happen. Philly has no heart or chemistry, they don't scare me. Miami will be the toughest competitor. They play hard and now have what they needed, a couple shooters. Even they don't scare me, but they will give the Bucks the biggest challenge.
  18. I agree, unless those two recruiting classes start falling apart. They're not in uniform yet.
  19. After his monster game, Khris Middleton is now a 40/50/90 guy.
  20. It's plausible Giannis would be more likely to leave if they win it all. IF he's getting any pressure from family, friends, agent, Nike, the Association, etc. he may actually feel it's easier to leave after doing what he wanted to do- win a title for himself, his team, and the city. We just don't know what factor(s) will sway him to stay or leave. Yes, we know he's said as long as they are competitive he's staying, but I think we would all agree nothing is that simple or absolute.
  21. They don't need to make a move. Arguably making a move last year messed with chemistry a bit. The only team that can stop the Bucks from winning it all is....the Bucks.
  22. Yea, I'll try to keep it simple and not technical. 90% sure pilot was flying vfr (essentially looking out the window) and changed to instrument too late. Appears he should have been on ifr from the beginning. Very difficult to transition like that flying into clouds and terrain.
  23. Millions play fantasy football, it's all about individual players. Nobody plays NBA fantasy leagues. Even casual sports fans know a lot of NFL players, they don't know NBA players. Lebron sure. That's one, and arguably the goat. Do they know Doncic, Jokic, Siakam, Kemba, etc.? No. Mahomes would be missed way than say, Harden. NFL has been lacking a bit of star power the way it is.
  24. How? Bad officiating sure, seems to be both, seems to be every sport, but superstars dictating the game? I wish. Aaron Rodgers would have more than one Super Bowl under his belt. Superstars only have as much dictation as their talents will take them in the NFL. Maybe a star QB will occassionally get the benefit of the doubt on a roughing call more than a rookie QB might, but that's about as far as it goes. Star players have very little leverage in the NFL. They can hold out and even that doesn't usually end well for them so very few will dig in their heels like LeVeon Bell did. Even the ones who are free agents are powerless to change their situation if their team decides to slap the franchise tag on them. NBA superstars can, and routinely do force trades, form super teams in locations of their desire, and benefit from superstar calls from officials. That's part of the NBA culture that is referred to, and I can't see how the superstar aspect of that compares to the NFL. Ok, thanks, now I know what you mean by "dictate the game." Yea, I agree to that to a degree. But the QBs are the superstars in the NFL, and they protect them with rules, unwritten rules, and every other way. They are the face of the team every bit as NBA superstars. You never see NBA players hold out, NFL players do. And NFL stars get their coaches fired just as NBA players do. NBA players don't get all the calls anymore either, just ask Giannis. But again, I agree with a lot of what you said. NBA teams are simply smaller, so the superstar has a larger impact in every way.
  25. It's an example of what some people associate with the brand, it's not meant to be taken literally, but I get the feeling you're intentionally being obtuse. I'm not, but feel how you will. You can have the last word, I don't want to bog down the topic any longer, we really should be talking about the Bucks- not how or why some old people don't like them. Which leads me to this: Point differential this season: 12- Bucks 8.9- Bucks with Giannis off the court 7.6- Lakers 7.4 Mavs 6.7 Celtics That is rather amazing.
