  1. Great to see them playing good ball on both ends of the court again. Even without Brogdon/ Mirotic. I was getting a bit concerned for a couple weeks there before/after Brogdon injury, they were still winning some games but not playing near their best basketball. I feel better after the last few games. If Middleton can get hot come playoff time, look out.
  2. Wow. You guys have really taken a big leap from a throw-away statement by a GM. Of course they could bring in someone from outside now that all the final roster cuts are being made. They could still sign Kimbrel before or after the season starts, but he wouldn't be on the 25 immediately anyhow.
  3. No offense but there was a 5 - 6 year stretch leading up to the back to back Final Fours where this exact same type of post would show up about Bo. I was one of them. Eventually worked out for Bo, but even in hindsight I would be fine if they moved on with new coach/ new style. History may have tured out the same way, who knows. What if the Hausers went to UW? In state get that Gard lost. I think they would have turned into better defensive players and obviously help with scoring. You cant win them all, but King is all Gard has won.
  4. As of 2017, PHX is 11th largest metro area. (I'm just a geek about that kind of thing.) I actually like the Chandler/Gilbert area a lot, we always stay there if not Scottsdale. Different strokes I guess, I just find Glendale/Peoria to be too generic suburbia USA. I've always find traffic a breeze, it's easy to avoid rush hour when going to the games and getting around town. Just don't drive then, pretty simple.
  5. I've been to 2 games this year, both SRO. There are other areas, near railings behind some of the sections. There's other nooks and crannies that are available for SRO SOMETIMES, but with how hot the Bucks are now they have those areas sold out too. (I asked various Fiserv Arena personnel about that.) So we ended up in Panorama both times. Get there as early as possible. If all the seats are taken, just wait, as some people are just hanging out their pre-game and will leave for their (better) seats closer to tip. Not great seats, but at least they are seats. Other downside is someone always has to stay with the seats, but it is what it is. For the playoffs I would probably get there REAL early and try to find a better/lower place to stand. (Would be more willing to stand the entire game for a playoff game.)
  6. Why don't you just use your cell phone? Just seems like an alarm clock is just another item to collect dust and not work if power is interrupted. Plus with a phone you can wake up to anything you want. Currently I wake up to theme song from Narcos.
  7. Arcia will hit like he has this spring= More points! More Points! Williams found the formula to get LH out- Late inning issue WHOA SOLVVD Peralta dominates Houser under the radar big impact Yelich wins back-to-back MVPs Blow two years of my entertainment funds for two great seats to watch the Crew win the WS in Game 6. LETS GO BREWERS
  8. Thanks for the tips so far, much appreciated!! Will probably do all of this, with the exception of amusement parks. We took a trip years ago to Kings Island and Cedar Point on the way back, not really our thing anymore. You're right though, it was a really nice park! I feel I have Cincy down, and somewhere to stop on the way to Pitt. Now I just need my Pitt experts to chime in ; )
  9. Looking to visit Cincy/Pitt surrounding July 4th. Not sure how many days yet, 1-2 games in Cincy, 2 in Pitt for sure. I've been to both cities, but it's been a while. I don't like Cincy style chilli, but my wife does so we're going to Skyline. Other that that, I don't know where else to go. Really don't need activities per se, just cool places/area to eat, and we're into local breweries. Ditto for Pitt, Primanti Bros is a must. (When in Rome) Otherwise, just want to hang out in a cool area, good (not fancy) restaurants/ breweries. That tram ride looks pretty cool too, will probably do that. Any suggestions on what we shouldn't miss in either city? Restaurant/ brewery recommendations? Finally, any ideas on where to sit in either stadium? Thanks in advance!
  10. That's all fair. I think the difference is Bo had a charisma to get the most out of his players. That helped in recruiting too, even though he usually wasn't the front man. The kids believed in him, liked him, and really wanted to win for him. I don't think Gard has that. Wisconsin's style of playing was dying, Bo was able to make it work because he developed players and was able to put together the right group at the right time. But now may finally be the time to move on to a new coach with a new style of ball. Very hard to recruit kids that want to play slow-mo ball. Honestly, if Duke played that way all these one/done guys would have gone to Kentucky, UCLA, or anywhere else that allows them to showcase their skills.
  11. OMG, if he had a KRod change-up it would be game, set, match.
  12. Gotcha. Either way it's not the ideal hope we're going for then. If it's actually a split then frankly he's still not throwing a change. If it is a change but it's barely slower than the FB then it's just not a good one. Doesn't mean he still can't be very good, I just think a competent change would be an awesome weapon for him due to his release. His two FBs are so different they really do "act" like two different pitches. Not just speed, but how they play. You can almost think of it in terms of FB/slider. So all he needs is either a curve or change that is good enough to keep them honest. For the most part, his curve does that. His success is almost all about fb location. That said, sure, if he could really command a curve and change he would be Cy young candidate in the future.
  13. Again, I don't believe that's his change-up. A change only 4 mph less than fb? I think we're seeing his split fb being recorded as a change.
  14. That's true, in fact who has really gotten better under Gard? Add that to his recruiting, and it's just not working. Reminds me of the whole TT/MM saga with the Packers. I can see that it's time for a change, but they keep adding more wasted years. That's how I feel with Gard. If this was Nebraska basketball or something, sure give him more time. But the Badgers established quite a program/ reputation and there's no reason they shouldn't be competing with Mich/ MSU every year.
  15. D'oh! Missed this. Thanks for posting. I can't wait to see what he can do with that extra velo. Note that the Brooks chart has "change" listed at 90.52. A change-up at 91/01 doesn't make much sense, nor does a spread of only 4 mph between Fb/Ch. I think what we're seeing here is his split(ish) fastball is being recorded as a change. Fangraphs has always included those two pitches together under fb. Bottom line, he may have another tick on his fb this year, but a lot of the difference could be explained away in how it is being recorded.
  16. Possible, but I think it's more likely this: Stearns: Hey, since no one is offering you a multi-year deal, we’d be willing to give you this high AAV deal for 1-2 years Kimbrel’s agent: He's the best, most proven closer in MLB and there's no way we're not asking for and getting at least a 4 year deal. I think it ends there, and that's where we are. Kimbrel's camp will continue to find other teams that will offer a long-term deal, and keep pushing the Brewers, Braves, etc. for this as well. Eventually, if no one blinks, they'll come back looking for mas money on a one year deal. Could be wrong, but that's what I think is going on. Knebel/Jeffress situation doesn't help, but that doesn't change their demand for multiple years, and the Brewers/Braves unwilling to offer that. Because that doesn't change before, during, after the Knebel/Jeffress news.
  17. Please stop. We don't need 8 more pages of this back and forth. He was wrong, and will never admit it. We all know this, so let's move on.
  18. Congrats to Marques Johnson! Truly ahead of his time. Back then if he could have come out of UCLA after a year, if 3 pt shot was used like it is now, less physical game, etc. he would have been a no brainer for NBA hof. So cool to see how much he appreciated having his number retired.
  19. For all those clamoring to have Mark A pull out his checkbook, do we have any idea if the dollar amount this year is even an issue? Could it be Kimbrel is still holding out for 4 or even 5 year contract? Just seems like all the talk surrounds this years salary, $150mm, etc. Thats only a small part of the overall picture. Even if he agreed to one year, what if its for $28mm? Just do it right? At some point its a panic move to just do whatever it takes.
  20. 1. BBQ 2. BBQ 3. BBQ
  21. No, I wasn't gloating. It wasn't optimism, it was flat out statements that he will be the starter opening day, etc. At least I wasnt gloating about how the Brewers caused injuries to JJ and Knebel.
  22. Theyre just not very good, and recruiting is worse every year since they made the title game. Really pitiful they have to fight it out to sign a couple 3 star guys every year.
  23. This is rich. So it I don't agree with our "opinion" I'm not a real fan? No not what it means, if you really want to know It’s explained in Kimbrel thread from earlier today. I don't know who's winning this argument, but could you guys agree to change one of your names? The whole 82/92 thing gets confusing As an impartial judge, I'm leaning towards 92 having to change because he/she made so many bold predictions/facts about Nelson that turned out to be wrong.
  24. That settles it, definitely can't afford Kimbrel now
  25. Sorry, but that doesn't make any sense. Does that go for every team or just the Brewers? Because he's going to sign somewhere. It makes perfect sense. There are teams out there with deeper pockets and all Kimbrel has to do is wait. The situation isn't going to get any better in terms of a team needing a closer. If he isn't singed it's about the money and I don't see the Brewers ponying up the price. If they were, he'd be signed. Are you saying he is going to sign here? No, I'm saying he could sign tomorrow, Monday, Wednesday....whenever. Could be the Brewers, could be someone else. What's magical about today? It's always about money, yet the Brewers have signed other FAs right? Not trying to argue, I just don't understand why they would be out and other teams are still in. Just because they have more money, doesn't mean they're going to spend it on Kimbrel.
