  1. I wouldn't call Gamel a power LH bat, but we'll see plenty of him in this series, with Brain DH for a game or two. Moose needs the playing time at 2B, so they'll keep him there. I don't see them bringing up an addl bat, as they won't need a PH.
  2. As you say yourself, tiny sample size. Even someone who would consistently get hit that hard wouldn't give up anywhere near as many homeruns over the long haul. Now of course even with a normal HR rate 1/4 to 1/5 of his current one some of those hard hit balls would be singles and doubles so it's not as if they disappear completely, but that naturally has far less of an impact on ERA. Anyway, it's hard to really get anywhere here, time will have to tell. My original point was about the HRs being a "fundamental issue" with his game, which I don't believe they are. They weren't in 47 (Regular + postseason) MLB innings in 2018, they weren't in 260 minor league innings before that. 10 innings this season doesn't change that. My fault for not being more clear. The "fundamental issue" I mentioned wasn't the HR ball. It's the ability to consistently get through5 innings with a decent outing, and that's a pretty low bar. Yet, a bar the 3 young pitchers haven't reached, except for 1 out of 6 times. They'll get there. That's what I always hear. But there is no guarantee of that at all. Peralta has the best chance of the 3, as he has done it once this season and several times last season. Burnes and Woodruff can look so dominant the first time through the lineup, then really struggle. I just think we've set expectations way too high- for this season at least. If 2 of the 3 are reliable (forget dominant) I would be satisfied.
  3. That would be POURING on, and this team never does that. Or so I'm told. Coach Cooper is all for pouring it on though. He is known throughout the land as a coach who will pour it on when needed... Oh Coach Cooper would never let his foot off the gas. True that.
  4. Really odd comment considering he's been on base every ab today, and most of this series.
  5. Good thing I'm not saying that then. I'm saying he can do exactly what he's been doing so far and that will see good results over time. There isn't really a fundamental issue the way I see it. 75% of the fly balls he gave up left the park. That's a fluke. Even 1/5th of that would be an above-average HR/FB rate, and that's where he'll end up going forward. You can ignore the "signifcantly" to score cheap points if you want to, I'm obviously not talking about a drop to 9.89. Corbin Burnes will have a sub-4 ERA from now on, without changing a single thing. If he "figures things out" he can be even better. That's good, because I never quoted you. But since you replied, your outlook is based on certain numbers improving, while all others stay the same. Obviously his HR rate will improve dramatically. At the same time, his k rate will deteriorate, but you don't mention that. Most of all though, Burnes has had exactly two starts. We can't project anything from that, other tnan guessing.
  6. Burnes ERA will go down, sure. It's 9.90 today, not hard to go down from there. Doesn't change the fundamental issue though. Nothing so dar this year has changed my opinion that the 3 young guns will struggle getting through 5 innings, let alone 6 or 7. And that's exactly what's happened so far. Maybe they'll all figure it out, maybe 2 of them will, nobody knows. It is literally blind faith to say "he'll figure it out." What I always find interesting is the one guy who has proven he's capable of getting late into games is Peralta- and he's generally seen here as the 3rd best.
  7. Noticed this year Yelich has a stronger arm in RF than I thought.
  8. We don't know that they'll be fine. MLB history is littered with very good young pitchers who never made it as starters. For awhole variety of reasons. All they can is take it start by start. Way to early to yank any of them from the rotation yet. That said, they're not going to let them stay indefinitely if all/most starts are bad. Curious, how many sliders vs fastballs did Burnes throw tonight? Admittedly I may be way off, but could be he's not throwing his slider enough?
  9. It is. I mean if you get picky you can call PI on most defended plays. Offensive PI too, that makes it worse since many times both pkayers are hand fighting at least. Just make it a 15 yd penalty (I would actually prefer 10) instead of spot foul.
  10. Well they have an ace, two TOR starters, and another ace when Nelson comes back tomorrow. Or something like that.
  11. After tonight, a shameless plug. Invitation to jump on my Arcia bandwagon, you will enjoy the ride. Optional, Peralta train is pulling into the station, get on board.
  12. I defend this going on 2 year observation, I’m sure Pina and I aren’t the only ones. You can try and crush me all you want, and I’m sure you will continue to try, if I’m wrong I’ll admit that I am, now we’ll just have to see about you, now won’t we. Your woody and the HOF comment telling. That was my comment. And proving you're right or wrong about "pouring it on" is futile. How can that possibly be defined when you used tonight as an example? A game where they scored 8 runs in 4 innings? Finally, you watch the Brewers every day, that's called familiarity. If you watched any other team consistently you would likely come to the same conclusion.
  13. Actually Woodruff is the ace. Burnes, Peralra, and Nelson are TOR starters. Davies, not sure. Cy Young maybe?
