    If nothing else, this game to this point has taught me to calm the heck down. I'm a smarter baseball fan than to be so reactionary. Most of us are. It's tough not to get hyped up sometimes, and since being in the NLCS is new to me I'm going to learn a bit about patience in these games. I am still seething about Kotsay in CF and probably will be until we finally cut ties with him. I still say you don't give kids sharp objects to play with and you don't give a manager poor veterans to play with. On the other hand at no point have I thought this was a lost game. I still though we could win this game.

    My feeling is that he is right. Kotsay seems to have a big day when he starts. On the other hand, he is not a good hitter or defender and does not give us the best chance to win baring 2 major injuries(3 in my opinion but I will leave Schafer out of this one). This is the other side of playing a hunch. We have just been lucky for the most part that this hasn't happened. 4 if you count Hairston.You are right, I forgot Hairston. He should be at SS so I didn't' think of him.

    For the record, I don't think whomever played in place of Kotsay would have been on to make that out in the first inning. They would have however made that play in CF.

You mean like replacing Weeks for defensive reasons but not Betancourt?Yes.

    The difference between these three hitters are very minimal. The difference between the hitters yes. Hanley is much rarer talent than either Braun or fielder though.

    I know in the regular season he would be stuck in an awkward position. We have had a few games where the starter was struggling by the sixth inning. We have four aces in the pen. No reason to trot out a starter who is struggling in the 6th inning.

    I disagree. There is no reason to push your starters as long as you would in the regular season. In the regular season you have to take the next game(s) into account. In the post season there are enough off days that your relievers can pitch every day.

    Betancourt is under contract. All we have to do is pick up his option. Of course if that happens I will lead the pitchfork brigade demanding Melvin's head on a pike down to Miller Park.

    Seriously, where is the guy. We have 4 pretty good relievers meaning we only have to get our starter through the 5th inning in games yet the manager keeps trying to squeeze as many innings as possible out of our starters. We see Loe warming up to face a left handed hitter and no Hawkins.

    He was quoting somebody. Of course we have already heard Uecker is kind of a jerk to fans other times. I have no idea if that is true.
