  1. Bope. Player has to be eligible the day of the trade. Players can't be traded in the season they are drafted.
  2. I don't "blame" Lucroy. I am ticked off about it though.
  3. Our farm system has been crap since we traded for Greinke and didn't start to turn around until about the time of the Gomez trade last year. I am not sure why you would expect results on the MLB field within a year of becoming better.
  4. Loshe would have been a good signing if we didn't have to give up the pick. It bothered me way more than the Garza signing. I wish we had flipped both early on for something before they flamed out. I find myself wishing that about many of the FA signings they made.
  5. We should have expected to compete in 2012 but once it turned on us we should have started the rebuild. The Loshe signing was a mistake and that isn't hindsight. Ramirez was in his mid 30's then and he should have been traded. Our hopes of being good depended on aging players.
  6. He could have asked for a full no trade clause. Maybe he did.
  7. They are going to be something less. Maybe not this year and maybe not next year but soon. That is the point of trading them now instead of waiting two years until we have enough talent around them.
  8. The bird in the hand thing is not overlooked. It has been considered but is possibly riskier than prospects. There is zero guarantee Braun and Lucroy can keep up the production we are getting out of them now. Especially 2-3 years from now when they would be surrounded by the young talent in our system. In fact there is a good chance they will be in a decline especially Lucroy. Catchers do not age well. It is really doubtful we will develop a player of Braun's caliber. That is to much to ask of any prospect. Same with a player of Lucroy's caliber.
  9. To trade for guys that will be up this year or next seems a waste since we are bad this year and are probably bad next year. Plus we can get more if we go loer in the minors for players.
  10. I would totally be dissapointed if he becomes Bryan. Bryan sucks. If he becomes Branyan I would be thrilled.
  11. You are new here so I will let you know that Branyan is legend. Yes I would trade Lucroy for Branyan 2.0+. Provided we didn't get the injury issues Branyan had.
  12. This. The Indians aren't going to say we're playing Yan Gomes over you. They know Gomes suck, if they didn't, they wouldn't have been in on Lucroy. Gomes is hurt and out 6-8 weeks.
  13. Maybe his value would take a hit. I doubt most GMs would think he can't be a catcher but they would use it as leverage against him. On the other hand he gets a year to rest his body and prolongs his career a bit. It also gives him more of a chance to reach free agency without being injured which would kill his value in FA almost completely. It's a lot of risk vs reward to weigh.
  14. That is justified. I am kind of ticked about it myself. Maybe. Also, Lucroy could have said something different to get the deal as close as possible thinking it would give himself a bunch of leverage. Possible. Don't get me wrong, I am still really ticked off at Lucroy. He wanted to play for a winner and passed on the opportunity.
  15. That is justified. I am kind of ticked about it myself.
  16. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/jonathan-lucroy-thinks-trade-would-be-best-for-him-and-brewers-b99654302z1-365824811.html Lucroy during the all-star break http://www.todaysknuckleball.com/nl/milwaukee-brewers/heyman-jonathan-lucroy-ready-contender-milwaukee-elsewhere/ I hate this guy. I hope the Braves swoop in and offer us a haul and there won't be a damn thing he can do about it. I don't hate him but I am feeling quite a bit of animosity towards him right now. He obviously had the right to turn down the trade but if he really wanted to play for a winner this was his chance. This trade would have been great for everyone. This would have given him what he wanted as well. He gets his chance to play for a contender.
  17. No thanks. I'm out for now.
  18. You can say what you think the Brewers should have had in return but in my opinion that is saying you think Stearns did not accept the best offer on the table. I see no way the return goes up over the winter. There is the risk of injury, less time left on his contract, and the fact people can sign free agents without having to give up talent. The marginal difference between a free agent and Lucroy is probably pretty small.
  19. Comp picks suck. They are after the first round and even a bigger risk than players with at least some minor league track record. Lucroy adds nothing to this team while staying here. Guess he really didn't want to play for a winner.
  20. and start a Lucroy is my least favorite Brewer thread.
  21. Heck yes. If that was on the table.
  22. I would rather have the catcher over another OF. I would rather have a pitcher over a catcher.
  23. It has been since early yesterday afternoon. Waiting for a Lucroy deal then having one now it might fall through.
  24. A pitcher back would have been nice. Still holding out hope that maybe we can tack on Smith to get one back. I don't hate the deal, but I was hoping to be wowed by it.
  25. This kind of attitude contributed to the reception you got in the other thread.
