  1. That seems excessive. Glad he decided to spend his money elsewhere.
  2. He doesn't play GG defense anymore. Outside of two years his offense has been average at best. He doesn't have a .350 OBP or hit 15 HRs by the deadline either. It was a wish list. Wish in one hand, crap in the other. I see no good reason to expect him to be worth anything at the next deadline.
  3. He doesn't play GG defense anymore. Outside of two years his offense has been average at best.
  4. It wasn't a given he would be called up. He had a pretty poor year in AAA and that shouldn't be ignored because of one hot month. With the year he was having in AAA I wouldn't have been surprised if he had been sent back to AAA again next year.
  5. JJ missed most of the season before being called up so no, he probably should not have been brought up when he was.
  6. Nope, that guy was awful. He did almost everything he could to keep the Brewers from scoring runs. Nearly small balled us to death.
  7. Their payroll obligations are not that bad for a big market team. They owe Simmons, Pujols, and Trout money after 2017 but that still leaves them about $70m for the rest of the team.
  8. I will also add that, generally, losing teams look flat and winning teams look like they are trying hard. We see this fairly often. The team seems to mirror how a person feels about the team at any given time.
  9. No that is a fairly ridiculous amount of games. The best to the absolute worst manager is probably 5ish games at most. Lineup optimization yields a few games but most managers are going to construct basically similar lineups given the same players so that's a wash. Most managers use the same bullpen decisions. Bottom line is a manager can make a difference with game decisions, but none really optimize things enough to set themselves apart. The only thing that really sets one manager apart from another is timing. Getting hired at the right time so they can manage a winning team instead of a dumpster fire.
  10. Of course the manager makes many decisions, but most managers make decisions that are very similar to every other manager so a different manager would make little difference in game.
  11. How early in the year? Talk about making changes to the coaching staff early in the year is usually a bad idea not really worth discussing.
  12. Colorado had been with CS until last season. Cleveland had been asked to vacate CS as the Rockies were being formed/ started for the 93 season... Once a team has a 20+ yr run with an affiliate, you know the choice to move was not taken lightly.. Not quite. This is the last year of our contract and contracts with the cities are a minimum 2 years so they left after the 2014 season. This is our second year in that crap hole.
  13. Other than 2013 and 2014 he has been about league average or worse as a hitter. Much of his game is built on speed so yeah, it isn't all that surprising he fell off a cliff. It wouldn't be surprising if his defense wasn't very good either. At his age I don't think he is worth picking up to see if we can flip him for a lottery pick.
  14. Would it be possible to allow swearing for thr purposes of properly expressing how truly disappointing this is?
  15. I want no part of him. I was glad he was traded. I expected him to be bad. Not bad enough to be traded but bad enough we would not regret trading him. He had two good years and his game was based on speed. Not surprising at all that he declined rapidly.
  16. Best case scenario for Diaz is probably a MLB arrival of 2019. He is still in Low A. Hopefully Villar is able to keep up what he has been doing this year. It's by far his best year at any level. Nothing he has done previously indicates this is his new normal. He has had a nice split between BA and OBP in his career but I still would expect him to hit worse next year. I would expect him to hit like he did last year going forward.
  17. 2017 - 15, 2018 - 15, 2019 - 15, 2020 - 13, then either $4m buyout or $15m mutual option in 2021. It's all right there and has been since the contract was signed. Ryan Braun lf 5 years/$105M (2016-20), plus 2021 mutual option 5 years/$105M (2016-20), plus 2021 option signed extension with Milwaukee 4/21/11 $10M signing bonus (paid in 4 equal installments each April 1 from 2012 to 2015) 16:$19M, 17:$19M, 18:$19M, 19:$18M, 20:$16M, 21:$15M mutual option ($4M buyout) price of option may increase to $20M based on MVP, Silver Slugger, Gold Glove awards (if earned, award escalators are deferred without interest) $18M in salary ($4M each in 2016-18 and $3M each in 2019-20) deferred without interest, to be paid in equal installments each July 1 from 2022 to 2031 no-trade protection allowing Braun to block deals to all but six clubs, including as of 2016 Arizona, LA Angels, LA Dodgers, Miami, San Diego and San Francisco (as of 2015 list included all clubs except LA Angels, LA Dodgers, Miami, Tampa Bay and Washington)
  18. I'll assume you are joshing us. You couldn't possibly have forgotten this one. http://www.impawards.com/2007/posters/balls_of_fury_ver4.jpg Yes, yes I was. That was exactly the movie I was thinking of.
  19. His range was better than it looked because he had good instincts.
  20. Doesn't change the fact that Hardy refused to move to 3B which would have greatly helped the past and present of the organization (and the Orioles too) while Villar was just told he's playing 3B as soon as Arcia was called up. The big difference being JJ could actually play defense. Really well.
  21. Who cares? Don't watch.
  22. Yeah I have never seen a movie about ping pong.
  23. No, his salary is 19,19,19,18, and 16. That amount is reduced by $4M each in 2016-18 and $3M each in 2019-20. So it will be 15,15,15,15, and 13. It was a 5/$105m contract with a $10m signing bonus and a $4m buyout. It comes to a 5/$91m contract with a bonus and a buyout.
  24. Conversations flow into different and sometimes more interesting topics.
  25. That is my recollection as well. Maybe Trwi7 meant to type one instead of some. We wanted to make room for Santana who will probably turn out more valuable than Davis. Nottingham is a little disappointing this year but I would still do the deal. It would have been nice to get more for Davis but he was a player with some warts. He wasn't/isn't a star but a league average player. We were lucky to get much of anything for him in trade. Braun has never been a great defender anywhere, ever. He is average at best in RF.
