It isn't just millennials. There are way to many people who are oblivious of others. They act like they are at home when they are in public. Talking loudly on the phone. Walking down the middle of the parking lanes in lots so cars can't drive past. Driving in the left lane while not passing. Leaving their ringer on in classes and at work. Take your pick. I think people in general are becoming more and more inconsiderate of others.

Draft picks fail at way to high of a rate to make this a good strategy. Even if you could get every single one of the top ten players in players in the draft, most would fail.

You said older for his competition. He is younger.

Closers are very replaceable. We are in no way, shape, or form a playoff team this year and we should absolutely be selling pieces like Smith and Lucroy.

Yeah, I hate to say it but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for the team to come into the All-Star break with a poor record. I still have a big fear that they will go off their plan to build a winning franchise and chase the playoffs for one year.

So did the Brewers. Drafting Corey Ray in the 1st Round isn't at all about Santana particularly, but is telling in some regard. There are other obvious factors to drafting an OF #1: Brett Phillips is hitting only .249/.337 in AA Ryan Braun may be traded Michael Reed is only hitting .227 in AAA If they are drafting based on anything happening with current MLB players, they should be fired. The draft should be done based on the best player they can get, especially in the first round. Guys that are drafted are to far away to make much impact by the time current MLB players are leaving.

Or hottest name on the injury report. We have two solid OFers that have been injured often and a black hole in CF. Probably want to keep all the depth we can get. There are a few things i'd look at here. 1) What are your realistic goals? I think that if you want to win this year and next year, Braun is a very valuable member of your roster. This is why competing teams would like to trade for him right now, and would probably give up some good talent to get him. If your window is a few years out, then Braun's most productive years will be spent on a losing roster, and by the time you're looking to compete, he will be pushing into his mid-30s. This is probably where the Brewers are, which is why it may make sense for them to trade him. 2) What can you get for Braun this season? This is the big question. When it gets mentioned that someone good will be traded from the MLB roster, it's easy to forget that we will be getting a lot of talent back. In Braun's case, he should return a couple good prospects. Probably one who will be with the MLB team in the near future and one or two that are a little farther off. Alluding to point (1) above, if your time horizon is a couple of years out, then the combination of these prospects could be better than having an older Braun on the roster in a couple of years. 3) How will Braun age, meaning will he still be healthy and productive in the final few years of his contract, when the Brewers are realistically shooting for the playoffs? I start getting wary of players when the get on the wrong side of 30, and really start worrying when they hit their mid-30's. Age is not good on athletes, and everyone eventually hits a wall. Braun is a Hall of Fame caliber talent, but he's also been prone to injury throughout his career, and currently has chronic issues with his back and thumb. I don't know how good he will be in a few seasons, but part of the question of trading him has to be whether you're willing to take the risk of him succumbing to age/injury and not being an above average talent at the point the Brewers will be trying to compete for the playoffs. It would be tough to see Braun go, but it would probably be best for the franchise. If he stays somewhat healthy, I think it will probably happen this year, and at that point, I would think that Broxton will get plenty of PT, and we will be glad we have some of the veteran "scrap heap" guys to fill out the roster for the remainder of this season and into next until our better prospects start to hit the MLB field. 4) Do we have any alternatives? Outfield is probably our most loaded position throughout the farm, and the question isn't whether they are capable of replacing Braun in 2016, or probably even 2017, but whether in 2-3 seasons some of our OFs will be capable of replacing the older version of Braun. In other words, if Braun is an average OF in 2018, can one of our OF prospects be better than theat? This is the reason people want to see what some of the young guys can do in a season like this one. Broxton may be a bust, but he has the physical tools to be good. He has the potential to be a guy who could play above average in the MLB OF in 2-3 years, whereas Kirk N. probably does not. Whoever it is who steps up, when looking at our franchise as a whole, I don't think that we should have a problem finding three capable OF in a couple of years. Dang it. That is the same thought I had but I only took the time to post a couple sentences.

We may be trying to compete in 2-3 years. If we are not then it really doesn't matter. I should start with the MLB forum first at the end of the day. Monty has a much more thorough explanation here.

The big thing about trading Braun is trying to predict his future production vs what we could be expected to field in his place. The money really doesn't come into it. Can we get someone close to what his bat will be in 2-3 years or get someone at another position to take up the slack? I don't think we could replace the production he is putting up right now.

On the flip side MLB wants you to think they have the game cleaned up. Do you really think Braun only used one time and happened to get caught? What about all the other guys who they found during their investigation that never tested positive? The cheaters were ahead of the testers and still are.

When you delete a file on a hard disk drive all Windows does is remove the information that points to where that file was found and what kind of file it is. It frees that space so that it can be used again. The file is still there and recoverable until something else is saved over it. To wipe a hard disk drive you need to use software that will write random numbers across the whole unused portion of the disk. You can even recover files after formatting a hard drive. SSD's are a little tougher since they don't let you have access to the whole drive. They reserve a portion which the drive controller uses to extend the life of the drive and other functions. Even if you write over the whole drive, there are portions that may not be written to. To securely wipe them you need to use software from the manufacturer that can access the drive controller. Newer SSD's have something called TRIM which erases data on unused portions of the drive. The problem with TRIM is that it is hard to tell how soon the erase takes place. Could be minutes, could be days. If you just want to wipe the unused parts of the disk you can use something like KillDisk or CCleaner. I actually use CCleaner often on computers that are having issues with startup programs and malware. I am not saying it is easy to recover files that Windows has deleted or that most people know about this. I am just saying to be aware that deleted means "not easy for Windows to access without special software." It doesn't mean the files are gone.

That is sort of what went wrong the last time around. We traded some talent for short term solutions at the same time they drafted pretty poorly. It lead to all the talent being concentrated at the MLB level with most of the guys in the decline phase instead of upswing of their careers.

I don't believe PED's are the reason for the stats jump. I don't believe the game is cleaned up. The guys now are just way better at masking their PED use.

I learned a lot about SSD's today and I would not resell one I used for my home PC. It is tough to guarantee you wiped them.

Declining a $5.25m option on a frontline catcher would be epicly stupid. They wouldn't even get a pick because they didn't have him a full year.

I am not really concerned with the money in a Braun trade so much as the talent we get back. Even paying Braun's full contract we wouldn't be hamstrung as a franchise. If the other team pays him at least $10m a year we would come out really good.

Well sure but if he was a Rule 5 he probably already had 6 years to develop if he was decent to begin with. You get the year the guy is drafted plus 3 years before they need to be put on the 40-man then 3 option years.
