  1. I think that was reading a bit too much into his statement there...Maybe. The ownership changed since then and they also got a new stadium in the meantime.
  2. Holy crap I think I am losing IQ points listening to these guys. I thought people who did TV broadcasts could talk and stuff.
  3. Did he just say Hart was at bat while McGehee was at bat?
  4. That is why I think Escobar will be about average on defense for the season. Inconsistency. Once he gets consistent, he will be phenomenal.
  5. It is really easy being a Weeks fan right now. It has been tough over the last few years.
  6. We should ask Nationals fans which is worse. July 15th 2005 for those interested. There were a few other times as well.
  7. I thought Escobar would hit into a lot of double plays because he hits the ball on the ground a lot. That wasn't the type of DP I had in mind though.
  8. I bet balking in the game winning run in the bottom of the 9th would be worse.
  9. Hart has looked really good at the plate so far today. Robbed of a hit there.
  10. Hart has been pretty good at the plate in all his starts. Even in the first start he got a walk and hit a ball really hard but right at a fielder.
  11. Sure sounded like it. Sacrificing is questionable at best in the 6th and 5th innings. It is flat out dumb in the top of the first
  12. Joe Morgan is a tool. Talking about moving a guy over from 2nd to 3rd in the top of the first. The implication was sacrificing him over. I bet he gets hired as our next manager. Also LaRussa is a great manager according to Morgan. I can't express how much I dislike LaRussa on this forum. My vocabulary is limited and I can't use swear words here.
  13. Yeah I completely agree Gerut should be in CF. This is a sort of dumb substitution in my opinion. I would have had no problem with Edmonds in RF and Gerut in CF. Gerut needs some PA. Macha still doesn't understand getting the bench guys regular PA. I have been against Edmonds in CF all spring. I am not really big into firing the manager because one guy is as bad as the next but between Suppan in the rotation and Edmonds in CF I really am starting to question Macha's intelligence.
  14. Lawrie's bat is special by most accounts and Gamel is probably at least an above average bat at the MLB level. We don't have any Fielder or Braun level bats but I think we have quite a few better than average MLB bats coming up in th system. Th problem is other than Gamel they are not likely to be ready before the middle of next year depending on their development.
  15. I would extend him. It is highly dependent on the money though. I thik we could get him pretty cheap right now. If Lawrie's bat is as special as advertised we can move him around to fill other needs. It really doesn't sound like Lawrie will stick at 2B anyway. Even if he does, it sounds like he would be adequate at best there. I should add that I am not sure Lawrie sticks with this organization. I know they are only rumors but it doesn't sound like Lawrie got along with his teammates in Appleton last year. I wouldn't be surprised to see hi traded at some point.
  16. Let's hope there isn't a mass exodus in the next few weeks. Next year might be absolutely brutal since we came so close this year if everybody leaves. I am sure we will be at least middle of the pack in the WCHA no matter what but not special like they were this year. I really hope we have some good goaltending coming in soon. Not that Goody is horrible but he definitely isn't special.
  17. Gallardo could just as easily end up like Hart but I doubt it. Hart had a pretty decent track record in the minors and was pretty solid his first few years in the majors.
  18. Of course.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I always wait till the Badger hockey season is over.
  19. For good or ill, my phone background changes today from Badgers to Brewers. I am glad it is changing so late in the year.
  20. I guess that depends on what Yo would cost if he were a free agent today. I can guarantee it would be far more than what we just signed him for. Also, I doubt you'll be able to sign a top of the rotation starter for the money Yo will make in 2014 & 2015. You would probably be able to sign a #3/4 starter. You are assuming Gallardo is a top of the rotation starter. I am not saying he isn't but who does Gallardo compare to stuff wise? I don't think he is a workhorse like CC or Sheets were. He doesn't really have overpowering stuff. I don't think he would get top dollar like CC did. I think he would get a very good contract somewhere along the lines of Lackey this last offseason. We may have saved a little but not much. Assuming Gallardo would get $16M a year on the FA market we saved about $6M if we don't pick up the option and about $9M if we do. 5 years/$82.5M (2010-14), plus conditional 2015 option * signed by Boston as a free agent 12/16/09 * $3.5M signing bonus * 10:$18M, 11:$15.25M, 12:$15.25M, 13:$15.25M, 14:$15.25M
  21. The only dark cloud over the whole thing is we could have a very thin team next year if all our guys decide to go to their professional teams.
  22. Closers blow games. Hoffman made a good pitch and the other guy hit it. Last night is a good illustration of why you can do everything right as a pitcher and still have bad results.
