  1. Until Fielder signs a deal or is traded/leaves, all we are going to hear is trade rumor after trade rumor.
  2. The only unfortunate thing about Hart's start is more Edmonds in CF. It makes our offense much better but it would be nice to have at least one good outfielder.
  3. Gomez is 31 days short of having 3 years in and being eligible for arbitration. Gamel has 122 days of service time in at the start of the year so he could very easily have a year in by the end of this year(172 days is one year of service time). Escobar will start getting paid after the 2012 season, the same as Gamel if Gamel gets 59 days of service time this year. Parra is eligible after this year. They won't be to expensive since it is still arbitration but we are not far removed from salaries going up.
  4. Stetter has 2 options left. You might be thinking of Parra or Narveson.
  5. Over the last month and a half I think at least half my meals have been off the grill. I tend to grill at least 2-3 times the food I can eat and eat grilled leftovers for the next 2-3 days.
  6. With the wind expected to be howling out at Wrigley on Thursday, we could see a line from Suppan of similar epic futility considering he was roughed up by guys in their first week above rookie ball in his last start. If the wind is blowing out it will be obvious none of the HR were legit therefore Suppan is still a good starter.
  7. The Yankees might have Jeter or A-Rod DHing in a couple years.
  8. Part of the reason I wasn't a big supporter of firing Yost and don't support firing Macha even though I sometimes wish bad things upon him.
  9. Macha telling Zaun to go out and kill some time. This seems like the perfect place for Parra or Narveson.
  10. we have about a third of our lineup made up of DP guys not counting the pitcher. Escobar puts the ball on the ground a lot and will hit into many double plays this year. Ditto for Zaun. Gomez will probably hit into quite a few as well but he is a little less likely than the other 2.
  11. Edmonds in the 2 hole isn't the problem. He really shouldn't be starting in CF while we have Gerut on the team. This is just old coach "he has always played in CF" thinking. He looked ok last night but he really didn't field anything except pop-ups. Seriously Macha, get Gerut some at bats. Macha is still doing a horrible job getting guys playing time. A few days from now we will need Gerut to pinch hit and he will not have faced live pitching for a long time. Then he won't get playing time because he isn't hitting well.
  12. Let him figure it out in the 8 hole.
  13. Stetter maybe. He has options left. I would hate to see that though since then we would be using Narveson or Parra as a LOOGY. Of course it doesn't seem like Macha like Villly or Parra much considering Parra has only pitched once and Villy got pulled after 2 hitters in the middle of an inning so that Hawkins could be brought in for one batter.
  14. Correct me if I am wrong but don't the Giants play a lot of games in pitcher's parks? I thought all of the NL West was pitchers parks except for Colorado and that has played pretty neutral since the addition of the humidor. I guess what I am trying to say is that maybe that is the best way to build a team in the NL West. I am not sure it would work as well in the NL Central with all the neutral and hitters parks.
  15. Looks like a pretty recent thing. was pretty hard to find as they only had the leaders trailers for most years.
  16. Twitter, Facebook etc. I ran across a graph for the volume of Tweets during the Brewers game at the Brewers website on their gamewrap. To much. Think of me as Stan Marsh in the latest episode of South Park.
  17. How about snorting it?
  18. I was in tears because it was so painful.
  19. Some teams are getting smarter and doing away with the guys who can only DH. We still have a few guys hanging around just to DH but I can see them going away in the next few years as their contract expire.
  20. I would like to see something like 3 years at $4m per with $2M in incentives per year based on PA and an option for a 4th year. It would probably have to be a mutual option.
  21. FYI, Gameday has him throwing only one changeup in the 9th tonight.
  22. I think we should have waited a bit to sign him and signed him for about half of what we did or just gone with Hawkins as a closer. I think he will be good for the most part this season. Hopefully they won't stick with him if this continues though. He was just unlucky Friday night. Tonight was much worse since it looked like he didn't pitch well.
  23. I would be more enthusiastic about bonus baseball if we were the ones coming from behind and the game wasn't on Joe Morgan sucks TV.
  24. Loving that Hoffman contract even less than I did when it was signed.
  25. It's a really small sample, but Ryan has an OPS of 1.852 in 11 PA against Villy. That might have factored into it.I really hope that isn't the reason for pulling Villy. It seems like a waste to bring in Hawkins there.
