  1. Doug Eddings. I knew I recognized the name. There is a blog that comes up very early in a google search. He has been a turd and a terrible umpire for over two decades now just reinforcing the need for robot umps. Good rule of thumb is if you recognize an umpire by name, they probably suck. Looking at you Joe West.
  2. I watched someone push their cart of groceries out to the cart stall in the parking lot which was about halfway to their car then pick out their groceries and walk them the rest of the way to the car. 2-3 bags of groceries. No milk or anything like that which would be heavy. This wasn't an old or disabled person. I mean how lazy are you if you could not have left your cart in the store.
  3. My tire (sidewall, sigh) decided to pop and give me an early day too. I was just praising my car for how well it was doing with regular maintenance. I think I jinxed it. Hopefully it wasn't AWD so you have to buy 4 tires to replace. Good luck with that. Low profile tires seem to be pretty common anymore.
  4. I have done pork butts on my 22" Weber. Only two 4# butts at once. One chimney of charcoal lasted almost 10 hours and I didn't have to adjust the temp much. Just a couple times through a whole day. Pretty airtight.
  5. Doesn’t appear to have been too many this year. BruisedCrew posted this in yesterday’s IGT: “They have lost 4 when leading after 6, 2 when leading after 7, and none when leading after 8. I don’t know offhand if that is 6 different games or if 1 or 2 of the ones leading after 7 were also ones where they were leading after 6.” They are 5 games from having the best record in the NL so winning all those would make a big difference. Of course they may have given some of those other games back so it is hard to say just how much difference it would really amount to. Optimal usage is to have your best reliever come in earlier in the game in higher leverage situations and to be used flexibly. That isn't how they get paid though. Saves and holds are just terrible stats.
  6. How soon we forget how dickish the Cardinals were under LaRussa and all the little bones. He is not a great manager, he has managed some good teams. He is just a tool.
  7. Why if I am only printing in black and white does it matter if I don't have any yellow or magenta ink? How do I run out of magenta and yellow if I never use it?
  8. He had a fairly large difference in speed between his pitches too. I believe he had a pretty consistent delivery so it was hard to tell what was coming. And he was pretty good at hitting his spots. I always liked his pace of pitching. 2 hour games were not uncommon.
  9. Skins are definitely permeable. You can tell when you soak brats overnight. Beer and onions makes them kind of sweet. I never poke holes if I can help it. Lets the juice out. I might preboil if I was tailgating so they are precooked and less chance of mishaps. If I am at home or have time, indirect heat and no boil.
  10. Soak brats in beer overnight if you want flavor. All boiling them does is precook and make a mess.
  11. Of the two at Lawsonia they pick the Links? Boring and flat.
  12. No. Alex Smith got kind of screwed in San Francisco. 5 different offensive coordinators in his first 5 years. Changed offensive coordinators part way thorough his 6th season. Had a new head coach and 7th offensive coordinator in his 7th season. His 8th season he had the same coordinator for the start of a second season in a row for only the second time but got injured and lost his job to Kaepernick. I don't see how anyone could succeed during that dysfunctional mess of years in San Fran.
  13. I can't believe I have been into serious boardgaming for almost a decade now. Like not Monopoly, Life or Catan.
  14. $25-30 a month to stream directly from Sinclair I could do. I think MLB if they are going to stick to their archaic blackout rules then we need some local streaming options. I get why they have their blackout rules. It drives up the price they can sell TV rights for and that would be otherwise lost revenue. It just does not seem very forward thinking to make their games harder to watch. I think for me this is going to go the way of College hockey when they went to the Big Ten Network. Games were pulled off Fox sports and I didn't get Big Ten for a year there. My viewing habits changed and I have barely watched a game since. I enjoy both sports but when it comes down to it, I have many options and it isn't worth the effort.
  15. What can the teams do about it? Not sell their broadcast rights so no one can watch the games? It sucks, I agree, but I think a lot of this is that we as a society have been so used to getting things for free (usually illegally) over the internet that we don't know how to handle it when we actually have to pay for something. I have no problem paying but I want some choices. Not pay $85/month or nothing when literally the only reason to get it is for baseball. I went from watching and attending 150+ games a year a few years ago to 0 games last year. I want the Brewers games but it is getting more and more difficult to find ways to watch them. I would think we would be getting more not fewer options as time goes on. I am honestly not sure I will come back as a regular fan until they start making the games easier to get online.
  16. April Fools pranks should be fun and lighthearted. This would be ... the opposite of that. But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun and his shenanigans are cruel and tragic.
  17. Yup, they spent a couple seasons on how Barney was maturing and a full season on a wedding they threw out part way into the last episode. Like they were just wasting treading water for a couple seasons.
  18. My dad had the same thing happen with all his DirectTV a couple years ago. They used to work with his TVs as universal remotes but no longer do and have only limited functionality with the receivers. I wouldn't be shocked if something happened with DTV and the screwed the pooch but won't admit it.
  19. I am still angry the last season of HIMYM was completely wiped out in the first 15 minutes of the last episode.m I hold a grudge.
  20. Agree. Wish they would have cut out one. I didn't really like the series at all until towards the end of the third episode. I would have been ok if they had made that the first.
  21. I always look at the ranking in terms of the old WCHA and damn it was comprised of some really good teams. USA Today 1. University of North Dakota, 488 (17) 3 13-4-1 14 2. Boston College, 474 (12) 1 11-3-1 14 3. Minnesota State University, 440 (4) 4 11-2-1 14 4. University of Minnesota Duluth, 395 (1) 6 12-5-2 14 5. University of Minnesota, 343 2 15-5-0 14 6. University of Wisconsin, 342 12 13-7-0 12 7. St. Cloud State University, 313 5 12-7-0 10 8. University of Michigan, 289 7 10-6-0 14 9. University of Massachusetts, 234 9 11-5-3 14 10. University of Nebraska-Omaha, 193 10 11-6-1 8
  22. Meh, never been a big Braun fan. Not because of the PED stuff, I assume all MLB players are cheating but not yet caught. He has been dealing with core muscle issues for at least a decade. His skills have been in a steady decline for a while. Might as well move on. He has made a lot of money and I think he has always been cognoscenti of the value of money so I assume he is well taken care of in that respect. He has no reason to come back unless it is for a ring.
  23. COVID, or being on the phone with the Health Department for an hour? Why not both?
  24. But LaRussa didn't cheat like those guys. All he did was turn a blind eye or foster a culture of cheating.
  25. I don't read any of this as we should go back to having all students in school yet. I would guess that most schools do not have the capacity to bring everyone back and maintain proper distancing.
