  1. Fon du Lac then North and East of there is awful right now. Hospitals are filled or filling up.
  2. Random variance
  3. One of my first jobs was working at a call center for a large bank. I talked to about 50 people per day. 40 calls were usually pleasant. Of the remaining 10 calls, 9 were probably just good people having a bad day. However, 1 of the 50 callers was just a ‘jerk’ (substitute your favorite choice word here). This job helped shaped my worldview. Don’t worry about the 1 jerk and focus on helping the 9 ‘good people having a bad day.’ General nature of customer service and any phone based job. They are calling because they have an issue. You are put in a position to deal with angry people that are just calling because they are mad. Phone jobs suck. I know, I work in IT and used to work for a Managed Service Provider who also provided internet service in Madison. Company was great to work for but being on the Service Desk sucked giant donkey balls.
  4. My father who I respect greatly and I used to think possessed a rational mind compared wearing masks to the helmet law. PERSONAL FREEDOM. I think wearing a mask is more like driving after consuming many many drinks and not knowing if they had alcohol or not. You are possibly endangering other people. You could be drunk and kill people or you could be fine. I hate masks. I would prefer to never wear one again. I don't want to go to work until I can go in without one. I am lucky I have the option to work from home. Quit being selfish and suck it up for the 20-30 minutes you actually have to wear one publicly indoors. Please please please listen to science.
  5. Can't we all just agree that masks and keeping 6' or more from people outside the home should drastically limit the spread and gatherings of people are a bad idea right now? Herd immunity is probably needed but the only safe way to achieve that is though a vaccine.
  6. All these places that have had supposedly "beaten" the virus have had it come back. And in some cases worse than before. The virus is going to do what it wants until we can effectively treat it. We can't mask and socially distance it away. We can't and I don't think they thought that we ever could. It was just a way to keep the peak lower. It doesn't take much to overwhelm a small town hospital. This is going to be with us for a while and if we care at all to keep the deaths low we need to mask and social distance.
  7. That is an interesting solution but the wireless rights would have to be bought and paid for.
  8. Youtube TV was a fantastic deal at $35 and I would have kept it at that price. The DVR on it worked great for recording live sports and anything else you wanted. At $50 it was a bit much and now at $65 is overpriced. That is getting up there with cable prices and not worth it at all. MLB just needs to get rid of their archaic blackout rules. Probably never gong to happen though with all the local TV money in bigger markets.
  9. No, you have it right. Sounds like even some of our own here may be the ones camping out in the passing lane. There are 3 types of drivers that drive me absolutely nuts. The ones who sit in the left lane right next to someone in the right lane going the exact same speed blocking both lanes of traffic. People who try to merge into traffic at a way slower speed than traffic. Don;lt merge at 45 when the speed limit is 65. People who travel at 50mph no matter what the speed limit is. 5 under in a 55. 15 over in a 35.
  10. Once you get out of larger cities you have less interaction with people. Not less chance to spread but if it does spread it will spread to fewer people.
  11. I would rather my youngest son continue online education or be given more time in school to do school work. He is working 4 hours at most now on schoolwork instead of 8 hours of school with at least 2 hours of schoolwork on top of that. Maybe that is just the teachers being lax. Seems to point to me to the classroom teaching to the lowest common denominator.
  12. I think this is part of the problem. We almost have to make the guidelines more strict than actually needed because we need to compensate for the people who just can't follow the rules. Man is a stupid creature.
  13. Probably not even polution. Probably because all the silt settled instead of being stirred up all the time.
  14. Yea. Online learning is starting to lose its luster to the kids too. Guess I'll have to try and set up a google meet to see some of my student faces. My kid had a hard time with it the first week. Assignments not turned in, spending I swear 12 hours working on homework and not getting it all done. Now he sits with me every day while I work. 2 hours a day and he has his homework done and turned in. Hard for kids to focus unless they have their phones taken away and just do their work.
  15. So cooking then warming up on the grill. ugh
  16. Forgot to add the criteria for reporting a death as Covid-19 related is not standard. I am not against the social distancing at all. We need to do it to flatten the curve. I have a huge problem with people thinking that social distancing is supposed to keep them from getting the virus. This just isn't the case. Everyone is likely to get Covid-19 at some point unless we would go into a full quarantine. Our worst enemy to this point are the people treating this like the apocalypse and overbuying things which creates shortages and the people trying to escape big cities and making the spread worse. Admittedly the shortages are mostly an inconvenience unless you needed toilet paper up until about a week ago. Way too many people acting out of fear. Too much bad/misleading information.
  17. Jefferson's Ocean Bulleit 10 J. Henry Patton Road
  18. The Flu is a collection of viruses too that the vaccine only guesses at the dominant 2-3 strains each year. I read something that the people that live in the vacation towns year round are really worried the vacationers are going to bring the disease with them. Michigan has 4th highest death rate per capita. Tough situation to deal with....not sure what I would do if I was the governor. It’s one thing to ban vacationers, but property owners? I think I’d want a refund on my property taxes. I agree keeping people from their property is wrong if it is their primary residence. We 100% should be keeping people in their primary residence and away from their vacation homes in areas with an older population and less capacity to treat severe cases. We really don't have enough testing to have any clear idea how many people are infected. That completely undercuts any possible usefulness of any stats so far.
  19. Greater population density is always going to be a better place for viruses to spread. The big problem is that we don't really have any idea how much this has spread already. Could be 100x as many cases as we know about. could be 2x. Rural regions with their crappy internet could be more impacted if this spreads there. Without good internet they can't keep going to school. I also assume people in rural regions will be more likely to have factory or service industry jobs and will be out of work as opposed to being able to continue work from home.
  20. How much money is deferred and at what point will this contract become a burden?
  21. The absolute worst part is they just scan the check and hand it back.
  22. I have a fantastic Yankees Suck image I wish I could show everyone. One night I got home from work and the snow was pristine. I had a friend in the same apartment complex that was a Yankees fan. I wrote out in the snow Yankees Suck in 10' tall letters so he would see it when he stepped out the door in the morning. He did. Best part is I took a picture then put it on his computer as a screen saver. Well maybe not. The best part was I took a picture and printed it an put it in one of his picture frames on his wall but he didn't notice for 6 months after the fact. I told everyone about it so they would know. One day I get a text from him about it.
  23. Means nothing to me. Easy to get counting stats while playing on a team that went to the post season almost every year.
  24. It isn't the last few weeks it started a few years back already. The tone shifted quite a while ago which is why I come here very infrequently.
  25. Well I like smaller cars so I guess I will continue to buy foreign since Chevy and Ford are not going to make anything that slots between clown cars and larger cars. I have no interest at all in SUVs. I like good gas mileage but electric is completely impractical.
