  1. The 49ers are a different team with Bosa on the field. He is a game changer.
  2. I am waiting on the X-Men and Guardians but yeah I am pretty much done with Marvel for now too.
  3. Unfortunately, unlike in the comics, actors will eventually show the effects of aging. I liked Loki quite a bit, Hawkeye has been ok, and the villain reveal was interesting. I just don't think the new, young characters are going to be interesting enough to keep people interested enough to spend money by the billions the way they have been for the last decade plus I am honestly probably mostly out on Marvel until they start introducing X-Men. I will probably watch Guardians 3, have heard Spiderman was pretty good so maybe that, but I am burned out after Endgame.
  4. That's why I went with an Amazon Fire Stick. Amazon is big enough where Google can't bully them around. The Amazon Fire Stick can go forward or backwards 15 seconds using the remote. Right now you can get one half price for $20 on Best Buy. The problem is if Amazon and Google get in a tiff, Youtube and Youtube TV disappear from Firestick. Same with Chromecast and Amazon Prime. You will get teh "no longer supported" from them.
  5. $65-85 was why we cut the cord in the first place. I quit YTTV when they moved to $50/month.I would pay $150 for the season for MLB TV but there just isn't enough on any streaming service to convince me to pay much more than $35 a month.
  6. This is what I was thinking too. It is easier to just not reply if you are not hiring someone than deal with a possible discrimination lawsuit. You could be dealing with a very small population of people depending on the professional field. The worst to deal with are contracting companies. They are downright predatory.
  7. I don't know. I thought he should have put up the stop sign.
  8. We have a choice between several plans and the best way to go seems to be go with the high deductible and put the difference into an HSA. Company puts $1500 into it for you add in the difference between the two plans and it is less out of pocket if you actually need to use insurance plus you get to keep the HSA if you don't use it.
  9. Miami Dolphins seem to do ok. Baseball though, yup, pretty horrendous.
  10. I hate the one game wildcard play-in game. Make it one wild card team and have them play their division winner regardless of record.
  11. Disagree. You can easily isolate yourself even more easily than you could before. News feeds are tailored to what you read and unless you go out of your way to read from opposing viewpoints you just get more of the same. Your friends group can easily end up all thinking the same thing. More information but you have to go out of your way not to read more news that will not reinforce your beliefs. I believe it is even easier tho isolate yourself than it used to be because you can reach out to and connect with more people who think the same instead of end up in forced conversation who you may disagree with and even if you do you just go back to your favorite social platform and those people can reinforce the person you were talking to is an idiot. It is much much easier to stay connected to people who will not challenge your belief system or retreat into just communicating with people who do if your beliefs are challenged.
  12. I worked in IT on the infrastructure side with a UW Computer Science graduate. He had no idea how to do anything in Active Directory and no Azure or Exchange knowledge. Too much theory and no practical experience. Maybe drop a couple liber arts classes and provide some useful experience.
  13. How are the retirement plans looking and how long can a person reasonably do physical labor? Mind you I don't necessarily advocate one path over the other. I have worked with IT people directly out of college(4 year) that don't actually know anything useful.
  14. Still feels wrong to have Venom not tied to Spider-man
  15. It has been here for while. It's called Culver's. No tip though.
  16. North is at the top of the map for every map I have ever looked at.
  17. Canada. No FIBs in Canada.
  18. It's on Hulu
  19. Lived in Wisconsin my whole life and that bugs me. If you are not going north, you are not going up.
  20. I did a phone interview and proctored test for a company. They wanted everyone in the office 100% of the time. I asked specifically about bad weather and they said the weather is never that bad you can't make it into the office. Huge red flag to me. At the very least you should allow people to work from home in the winter when the roads are sketchy. Their reasoning was it is easier to collaborate in person than virtually. I agree to a point but don't think 100% is the way to go. I can't really think of any IT job that you need to be in the office 100% unless you are doing hardware installation. I find the video interviews a lot less stressful. I think I even went without pants on one. I say think because I know I seriously considered it and my dress pants do not fit well anymore but do not remember what I decided. I literally cut my miles driven by 66% in 2020. Easily saved 8 hours a week just in commute time. It is crazy to think I had that much time sunk into just driving every week.
  21. Definitely agree. It felt more like a movie to introduce a new character as opposed to a Black Widow story which I would have been on board for especially 5 years ago. I would have much rather preferred a Black Widow Origin story but, I can see how it would not make sense now. Honestly kind of burned out on Marvel now. Add in less well known characters, easy access to streaming, and the pandemic and I am not sure how many more I will see in the theater. Might change my mind if X-Men and Fantastic Four are introduced back in.
  22. Except this was never the case. They said it was quite concerning in January 2020. They never said it was no bid deal. In fact March of 2020 is when they encouraged everyone to shut down. I don't think the CDC has botched this. I think people expect them to be all-knowing. The CDC makes recommendations based on the preponderance of evidence. Last year we had an administration (that I helped vote in back in 2016) that tried to bully and belittle the CDC's best guidance. Under political pressure and extreme resistance by a part of the electorate, the CDC often massaged their recommendations to try to avoid covid fatigue. In 2021 the CDC has been very clear in saying that EVERYONE should get vaccinated, and that non-vaccinated people shouldn't be going out in public, especially without masking and taking precautions. The problem is that America has a free-rider problem that we all saw coming, with a large portion of the population wanting others to get vaccinated to achieve herd immunity, but they themselves not getting vaccinated. As the CDC has been clearly stating, the current epidemic in the US is an epidemic of the unvaccinated. While some are having re-infections, most are linked to the J&J from what I've heard, which was only somewhere around 65-80% (If I recall correctly) effective protecting against initial COVID strains (although over 90% effective in minimizing severity of sickness) I feel very good about returning to the classroom having had COVID and then being fully vaccinated. But if they offer a booster in the fall, I will be happy to get it. Still, I do worry about our kids and families as last year I had around 50 students that were either immunocompromised or had vulnerable family members. I am not saying the CDC. I am saying some people made it a political/partisan issue and tried to silence the CDC at the start and it split the nation. Edit: I understand that your conclusion will change based on data. That is how science works. I would expect the CDC to change guidelines based on new information. Edit Edit: It is probably in everyone's best interest to just mask until everyone can act like adults and get vaccinated.
  23. The messaging was bad from the start. Telling people covid was no big deal last year in March was a terrible idea. This year I think they thought people would continue to get vaccinated at a good rate instead of things plateauing in early June. I don't think they anticipated the delta variant being do contagious either. Does seem like it is time to mask up again though and hope the vaccinated people don't turn out another mutation that makes the current vaccines useless.
  24. Honestly cut Cain and eat the deal. We really only expected one or two good years out of the contract we signed him to.
