  1. I always liked the Yost would give a guy a PA as soon as possible just so they wouldn't be sitting around without doing anything. Get the first PA out of the way.
  2. One win is the difference between 3rd and 7th. This was a devastating win.
  3. How many MLB SS did we have 3 years ago? Things can change fast. You should never draft for need.
  4. How can they be serious about Santana in CF with Philips on the farm.
  5. The problem then though is the situation we will have between Helena/Wisconsin where we have to many deserving OFs who are promising but nowhere to play them. Clark, Harrison, Stokes, Collymore, Demi, Belonis, Segovia, Martinez, Denson (plays out there a decent amount) Pierre....Possible hold overs like Rubio & Diaz who have a ton of upside but a still developing. You want BPA. While these picks take years to get to majors, a Rutheford, Beer, Banks could be in the Wisconsin/Helena mix my end of June....We will have OFs over pouring with limited talent at other keye positions. Trade some.
  6. I would take the catcher because it is further left on the defensive spectrum. I would always take the guy based on best player available or general scarcity across MLB, not based on need.
  7. Draft picks take years to get to the majors. A lot of things can change in that time. You take the best player available because you don't know what will happen.
  8. If we were contending next year I would rather just go with Lind at 1B.
  9. Nope, only until 2020. We do pay him until 2031 though, so we've got that going for us.
  10. You can hit .240 as a MLB player and have a lot of value, but you better have an OBP close to 100 points higher than your BA.
  11. Not at all surprising. He has had core muscle problems most of his career.
  12. I just hope he knows how to change his password.
  13. Those teams are built on young players. Yet another reason we should be rebuilding.
  14. I'd sacrifice a spot in the draft order to stick it to St. Louis and help force them into the wildcard game instead of the division title. Not sure how the tie breakers are working right now but a game or two could mean several spots.
  15. Makes you wonder if he was pitching through an injury. I hate to say that but he was goid after extended rest. SS appliies of course.
  16. I'm not so sure the Brewers thought they could contend this year. They left themselves pretty tin at starter when they traded Gallardo and Estrada.
  17. I have a feeling Houston fans are thinking the same thing. They got two major league players under team control for more than a year. One is a bona fide all star while the throw in of the deal has been nothing short of spectacular for them. I kind of doubt that. Gomez has been pretty bad for them so far. .231/.273/.336/.609
  18. That would be great but do you trade him or keep him? Will he still be that player or even a high .800 OPS player in two or three years when this team is ready to compete again? I don't see a hitter of Braun's caliber anywhere in the system Clancy is putting him at 3B, to negate half of his offensive value. Only half?
  19. I don't think we have enough arms that "need" to be in a starting rotation next year that will be held back by Garza. We have to pay him anyway, might as well buy a year of service time from someone.
  20. No reason to trade Garza. We won't get anything good back. We don't need anymore crappy players. We need good talent. Might as well hang onto him to see if he can build his value back up.
  21. You mean guys drafted by guys who are now gone?
  22. Yeah, no kidding. Our guys are definitely as good as the Cardinals at drafting. We don't need any advantage at all.
  23. They do have some of the contract based around time on the DL. 4 years/$50M (2014-17), plus 2018 vesting option signed by Milwaukee as a free agent 1/27/14 14-17:$12.5M annually. 18: vesting/club option 2018 option vests at $13M if Garza 1) has 110 starts in 2014-17, 2) has 115 innings in 2017 and 3) is not on the disabled list at end of 2017 season club holds $5M option for 2018 if it does not vest at $13M club may exercise 2018 option at $1M if Garza spends more than 130 days on disabled list in any 183-day period from 2014 to 2017 $2M annually is deferred without interest, to be paid in four installments each Dec. 15, 2018-21 annual performance bonuses: $0.5M each for 30 starts, 190 IP
  24. Let him rest and hope he comes back good next year. Trading him now would be a terrible idea unless the return is good. The team has money, what we want is talent. Pay Garza until we can get good talent back or his contract is up.
  25. I am having flashbacks of 2013. Started off bad and they quit losing toward the end of the season and ruined their draft position. Players can play well and we can still lose.
