  1. After posting those kinds of numbers, one would assume he wouldn't still be around but leave it to Brewers to consider resurrecting him. Who's next, Suppan? Really? You want to resurrect every other name guy, why not Capuano?
  2. Hopefully baseball will realize that you can make money if you offer a product. HBO finally realized people want to pay for things if they can. Those that don't want to pay will not pay either way.
  3. Yeah, stick to the original idea. Take salary off another team's hands in exchange for a prospect. And we already know the Diamondbacks are a team willing to do that. Adding Garza into the equation will just negate getting a prospect, if not the deal. What prospect do we give up though to take on Hill's contact. What kind of prospect are we looking at giving up. They got a decent young bench bat out of that last deal with the Braves. I just don't know what I am willing to give up. How about Segura? We have plenty of middle infield guys and Arcia in the wings. He only needs 58 starts over the next 2 years. He may still vest. 4 years/$50M (2014-17), plus 2018 vesting option signed by Milwaukee as a free agent 1/27/14 14-17:$12.5M annually. 18: vesting/club option 2018 option vests at $13M if Garza 1) has 110 starts in 2014-17, 2) has 115 innings in 2017 and 3) is not on the disabled list at end of 2017 season club holds $5M option for 2018 if it does not vest at $13M club may exercise 2018 option at $1M if Garza spends more than 130 days on disabled list in any 183-day period from 2014 to 2017 $2M annually is deferred without interest, to be paid in four installments each Dec. 15, 2018-21 annual performance bonuses: $0.5M each for 30 starts, 190 IP
  4. No one is saying he plays for the Cardinals.
  5. Well, he's not an option unfortunately.
  6. The players should be paid from a central fund which doesn't go to the owners if not spent or distributed equally to all owners so one does not cheat the others. Looking at you Loria.
  7. If I knew how to type an eyeroll, I would. In every thread about a player who has been terrible his whole career someone brings up Carlos. He was 1000 times the exception, not the rule. Kind of, yes. Gomez is an elite all around overall athlete. When you combine the footspeed with the arm and the hitting potential, Gomez is a rare commodity. I think Segura has a little bit of that, certainly in terms of the speed & arm. When you look at the bat, that is tougher to project towards being the 7+ WAR guy like Gomez became for a few years.... I still think Gomez best years were more of a fluke than the norm. I was really glad we were able to trade him and get something of value for him.
  8. I would love to see Davis traded if for no other reason than to give Santana playing time.
  9. Not sure how Lucroy stunk last year. He had a 93 WRC+ so he was close to league average and in the top half of catchers in an off year. His second half was night and day better than his first half and there is reason to believe that he was still fighting an injury the first half of last year.
  10. Baseball? What's baseball?
  11. I would take the OBP heavy OPS over the SLG heavy OPS.
  12. Segura hasn't hit since the first half of 2013.
  13. I wouldn't take out triples out of the rate stats but a high amount of triples is something I wouldn't count as a positive. Yes it takes some speed to get triples but most triples are if a fielder misplays a ball hit into the corner.
  14. Triples are more luck than skill. You need a fielder to screw up for a guy to get a triple most of the time.
  15. If you look at Segura's stats with us he hit well for the first half of 2014 and has been really poor since. His ISO is even lower than Yuni, so I was wrong about that.
  16. What do you think will happen with Segura? Other than one awesome half season his offense has been pretty poor even in comparison to other SS. He has shown little power and barely ever walks. If his defense slips, he is straying into Yuni territory. Granted his defense would have to slip quite a bit, but the Yuniesque bat is there.
  17. Lucroy also had a really good 2nd half. The first half could be attributed to injuries. That means he only really had a bad half season over the last few years.
  18. Stormtroopers and clone troopers are not the same thing. The emperor stopped using clones before A New Hope.
  19. Delete your cookies. Problem solved.
  20. It's 9/$95. You have to subtract the signing bonus which was already paid. It adds up to 5/$91 but I don't know where the other $4m went. A good chunk of money is deffered every year so he is mever paid more than $15m in any year. The other $4M is a buyout on a $15M team option for 2021. So, assuming that the sixth year option is declined by the club and he get the $4M, it gets up to 5/$95M. That option may have increased. Not sure by how much.

  22. Sure after lthe bad start the right move was to make trades. Even before the season started. It is not good to be happy with a .500 team.
