  1. I think this stereotyping of fans is wrong. All teams have obnoxious fans. The reason I think the Cubs seem worse is there are just more of them. Putting large numbers of people with differing fanatical beliefs together with alcohol in a small area is going to lead to confrontations. Cardinal fans would be just as bad if they came to Miller Park in the numbers that Cubs fans do. There is still no excuse for acting obnoxious in a public place.
  2. I'm not against enjoying a game in a non-"classy" way I am. It is possible to have fun without verbally abusing other people or getting into altercations.
  3. and Phil Cuzzi behind the plate. Gonna be a bad umpire day. Friday's umpire and Saturdays umpire were night and day with pitches on the edges. Hopefully we don't throw at any Cubs today. I think Braun getting hit was totally unintentional and retaliating wouldn't be smart.
  4. Stole the idea from The Great Dane in Madison.
  5. This is what we grilled on Friday. Hamburger patty, brat patty, cheddar cheese, and bacon on a pretzel bun. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/fab351e4648385dc2a618b4ac5d34e33cb249d4.jpghttp://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/93e257a606819239872c24575e369fe82d8175d.jpg
  6. Your link doesn't include his 2007 .411 BABIP in AAA or his .337 BABIP in 2008. Of course it is .208 this year so my guess is that he will start to hit at least a little better this year. Last year might have been his career year. I still think he will be in the top half of catchers on offense. All of his projections look to high. They project him to be better than every hitter on our team except Braun or Fielder.
  7. Very nice to be on the other side of 4 straight walks.
  8. Nobody watches a HR more than Soriano so the fact that the Cub fans are on Braun so much about it is just funny. I was thinking Ramirez.
  9. it's a shame that we have such a great first post in a thread in which the last post is going to be a string of 40 swear words and right before the thread gets locked I was laughing hard at this post. This one as well. I'm tired of a man on third, nobody out and not scoring. It's getting really old.
  10. Looking at the splits, Bradley is about 90 points better batting right handed as opposed to left handed. Leaving McClung in wasn't a bad decision. That last ball by Villanueva was called a strike earlier in the game. I knew we wouldn't like the plate umpire.
  11. Stetter should have been brought in a batter earlier. Edit: Tight zone and McClung isn't known for his control.
  12. I have not warmed up to Braun and I doubt I ever will. I like his bat and defense but I could do without the rest. When he signed the long term contract, I thought it was premature on the Brewers part. These back/oblique injuries are doing nothing to alleviate those concerns. On the plus side, the contract isn't ridiculous in any one year. He could still become unhappy with his contract and raise a big stink before it is over. People change over the course of 8 years. Until he does complain about his contract, I will not worry about it.
  13. Wow, those pitches looked really close. I think Bradley dodged 3 straight that could have gone either way.
  14. Should be an annoying weekend with the umpires today and tomorrow. Crawford and Cuzzi are pretty poor umpires.
  15. Your manager was pulled over for drunk driving during Sprig Training. That didn't bother me as much as his pompous attitude toward the press when they asked him about it.
  16. Don't forget bringing in Jorge Julio, who is known for poor control, with the bases loaded after Suppan had already walked in 3. I think Macha is still feeling out the players. We are still feeling out Macha. He sac bunts to much for my liking, but there is a reasonable argument for most of the times he has sac bunted.(I still think they are all a bad idea) He doesn't seem much better other than his personality in interviews.
  17. we haven't seen his moves result in the team having a losing season or miss the playoffs yet. It is debatable whether Ned cost our team a winning season or the playoffs in any year either. I agree with BUC. Ned was overly criticized. Not necessarily by any one person, but almost every move he made upset somebody which is true of any manager. I think it was just more vocal due to frustration from so many consecutive losing seasons and high expectations. Sometimes unrealistic expectations. I think whoever was the manager over Ned's tenure would have been highly criticized.
  18. I think McGehee would have been preferable in LF over Hall. Not a big deal to me either way.
  19. All ZR measures is how a player did within his defensive zone or hands. It doesn't take range into account at all. It is usually accompanied by OOZ. Article on Braun. Link
  20. If it was Doug Melvin the comment would be "At a bar at the airport in PIT trying to convince the bartender I should drink for free on account of how we own his team, and that" Our manager is to in love with the sac bunt. I didn't like the Hart double switch at first because I forgot about Duffy on the bench. I didn't mind a defensive substitution at that point in the game.
  21. Oops, guess I should have checked that first.
  22. Cot's contracts might be a good one to add as well. I know we have the salary page on the main site, but it goes into a little more detail and has links to information about the CBA and free agency.
