  1. I was hoping Gagne would do well. Of course I always want every Brewer to do well because it means more wins.
  2. I think they paid to much for a stadium that doesn't even have a roof. My blanket statement is that all stadiums being built should have a retractable roof. However, in the case of the Yankees and other teams in large cities where they can fill a stadium from the local population, you can get away without having one. In the case of the Brewers or the Twins where fans are often much further from the ballpark, it makes no sense to build without a roof.
  3. The only thing I didn't like about the original Power Pros was the inability to create a player especially since they didn't have Ryan Braun in the game at all. Other than that it was a really fun game.
  4. The reason you put a guy like Fielder or Braun 2nd instead of 3rd is the third guy in the batting order comes up the most often with 2 outs and nobody on base. Small ball is a really bad strategy most of the time. Except for the worst hitting pitchers, nobody should ever sacrifice bunt except for in close and late situations.
  5. Weeks has tremendous speed too, but under your line of thinking, thats wasted in the leadoff spot. Why is it OK to have Weeks steal batting 1st but bad to have Hart steal batting 2nd? What I am saying is that when you build a batting order you shouldn't worry about speed until you have your top 5 in place, if then. There is nothing wrong with any player stealing as long as they succeed 70%+(approx) of the time. Braun and Fielder hit just as many singles as Kendall last year True, but they had many more extra base hits than Kendall or the pitchers.
  6. Weeks and Hardy are hardly slow runners. I would much rather see small ball played in the bottom portion of the lineup than the top. Speed seems more important when you have guys who are likely to be hitting singles(Kendall, pitcher) than in front of guys who are likely to be getting extra base hits(Braun, Fielder).
  7. It makes the most sense to give your best baserunners the oppurtunity to run the bases more by putting them in front of your best hitters. I somewhat disagree with this. You don't want outs on the bases in front of your best hitters. The ability to move on the bases is more important in front of bad hitters as opposed to in front of your good hitters especially sluggers like Fielder and Braun.
  8. I can't imagine many of his teammates are exactly thrilled about this circus. Since Manny isn't on a team he technically doesn't have any teammates. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. You can't leave to find an equivalent job if you don't like the dress code. You can, well in a normal economy, with many other jobs. I really don't see the big deal though. Many guys change the way they wear their socks if they have a bad week.
  10. Fangraphs figured that in today's money the contract including the deferred money would be worth $43M instead of $45M. Link
  11. It isn't a question of being willing. It is a question of being able. One of these years I will get out.
  12. Gah, terrible couple weeks for us 0-3-1 with 2 overtime losses. Great chance to get a hold on first place and we blow it. Thank goodness baseball is starting soon.(baseball doesn't start until I see the Brewers on TV)
  13. Here is a link to a THT article on double plays. Link Basically a DP costs a team 0.5 runs more than an ordinary out.
  14. I really liked the Stone. Will definitely buy again. Probably my new go to beer instead of Hacker Pschorr. I got 2 of them, not sure if I will save the second for my wife like I promised.
  15. Cory Provus. Self admitted lifetime Cubs fan. Here's the 2nd thread on him. Link Here's the first thread on him. Link Link to BF.net goodbye from JP. Link
  16. That ranks right up there with braille on drive through ATMs.
  17. Just picked up New Glarus Stone Soup at the store today. I had never seen it before. I will let you know how it is later this weekend. I think they pulled the New Glarus ALT out of their lineup. I an looking forward to the Black Wheat that is supposed to come out in March. I hope it isn't as disappointing as the Crack'd. Don't get me wrong, the Crack'd wasn't bad, just not as tasty as I was hoping for. It would be nice to have a local Hefe other than going to The Great Dane to buy growlers which, with kids, is sort of inconvienent.
  18. I understand that he was the 3B coach and the bench coach before but I can't imagine a player not being willing to listen to his advice about hitting because he's the 3B coach or the players all of a sudden embracing his knowledge because of a change in title. I can't imagine the players suddenly embracing the same approach that has been preached to them the last 5+ years from 2 other hitting coaches.
  19. He is probably just trying to negotiate a better contract and will end up being renewed. I would wait until his 2nd year of arbitration to sign him long term.
  20. It would certainly help schools increase their enrollment and income without much money investment. Hopefully it would also curb the state funded building of, well, more buildings.
  21. Counsell also tried to change his stance a few(maybe last year) years back. They tried changing Halls stance last year as well. Just because a stance is change means nothing. Hitting coaches try changing player's stances all the time. Some work, some don't.
  22. Now we know the next big thing on Youtube. What's the point of even having a brick and mortar school if they are gong to record lectures? I can see this recording of lectures for online schiils.
  23. Boom Blox is fun. Not many sites(or stores) offer deals on games. Deepdiscountdvd.com gives a slight discount with free shipping and no taxes so it is a little cheaper. Otherwise try http://www.cheapassgamer.com/ to look for deals.
  24. It is probably because high school has gotten too easy and is a fricking joke. High school has been a joke since I went 15 years ago. I got a B in a class where 50% of the grade was based on an in class report which I turned in the written part 3 months late with no penalty. I skated through high school turning in assignments late on a regular basis and doing well on tests. We had 2 math classes where the tests were done in groups.(geometry and trigonometry/precalculus ) I can honestly say that most of what I learned in high school is useless.
  25. I think casual fans care quite a bit about getting a new manager. So do many people who post here. I really doubt casual fans will overlook the manager. Macha is a "winner" after all.
