  1. I should have read the bottle first. It said the Crack'd is a cross between a Bavarian Hefe and an American pale ale. Further down it says it is their "popular Imperial Weizen ratcheted down." If I remember correctly American pale ales are usually bitter and that bitterness is definitely there.
  2. I have a Foreman grill and hate the thing. Everything turns out somewhat charred.
  3. I got the New Glarus Crack'd Wheat. Tastes a lot like their Imperial Weizen in my opinion. Not great, but a solid beer. Maybe it will grow on me a after a few. I was hoping for something closer to Dancing Man. Clove flavors I think. Beautiful golden color in the glass.
  4. Never said it was bad for Gamel. It is almost always best for players to get their 6 years of mandatory service time out of the way as soon as possible so they cam become free agents. I think it would be best for the Brewers to leave him in the minors until he is ready to play average or better defense at the MLB level. I think that he needs a year in the minors to either improve at 3B or learn a different position.
  5. My brother in the Milwaukee area just said Homer was saying we reacquired Joe Dillon as a result of Hall getting hurt...can't find anything online to confirm that. My brother is a big Dillon fan for some reason, so maybe it is wishful thinking or a joke by Homer? Homer is a big Dillon fan. He refers to him as Marshall Dillon. Probably just wishful thinking on Homer's part. I hope this doesn't mean that Gamel gets rushed along. I got the feeling that Macha was going to start Hall without a platoon. I would hate to use a year of service time because of this.
  6. At which position though? If he is at catcher then I doubt he moves up very fast.
  7. When I am rushed to do stuff all day, lighting my charcoal grill gives me a reason to sit back and relax. My brother-in-law has said the same thing. I don't mean to offend you. I think it is sad when people think they need a reason to just sit back and relax every now and then. You can do all that stuff you talked about either way.
  8. I honestly think you and I are talking about 2 different things. I am talking about the term innings eater and the term intangibles and how they don't get used unless a guy has no other good qualities. I know pitching innings and saving the bullpen is good.
  9. They talk about David Eckstien's intangibles because there is nothing better to say about him. They wouldn't talk about his intangibles if he was a good player. Much like good pitchers are almost never referred to as "inning eaters." Intangibles and inning eaters are things that get brought up because they are the most positive thing to say about a guy. Just because you can pitch a lot of innings doesn't make you valuable unless you pitch quality innings. A bad pitcher is a bad pitcher. Pitching more innings doesn't make you better.
  10. So does a good pitcher. You never see anybody referred to as an "innings eater" if they are better than average.
  11. Don't worry about putting the grill together. I am sure you have a brother or other family member who will help put it together for a steak and a quality 6-pak of beer.(preferably New Glarus Crack'd Wheat) Of course you might have to feed your brother's kids that night as well.
  12. Sounds like referring to a guy as an "innings eater" just because you have nothing better to say about him.
  13. I think Hart is going to end up being the one who doesn't want an extension and bolts as soon as he can. He also was unhappy with being renewed last year, but it went somewhat unnoticed because Fielder also was unhappy. People thought Fielder would be the one going to arbitration hearings and being somewhat disgruntled through his Brewers career, but I think that guy will be Hart.
  14. Was Pena the same guy who at this time last year was thought to be the closer in waiting by some people?
  15. I would recommend this one. Link
  16. The thing is that we don't know beyond a doubt who did or didn't use other than a few guys right now. It would be well, stupid, to make any changes to the stats without definitive proof on which players used and didn't use. As far as I know they still don't have a test in place for HGH either so there is still a good chance there are cheaters that would never be caught. If you aren't going to catch them all, I think the best thing is to just admit that steroids were used and move forward to prevent steroids and other performance enhancing drugs from being used in the future.
  17. Right, and when the team moved to Baltimore they would become the Colts and have all the history of the Baltimore Colts. The team in Indy would have had to get a new name and restart like an expansion franchise. Boston would still be the Braves. Instead of the Seattle Mariners, they would be the Pilots. Of course that isn't how it usually works. I am young and never saw the Braves as a Milwaukee team. All I have ever known is the Brewers. The Milwaukee Braves history is part of the history of another franchise to me.
  18. I think when a franchise moves, the city should retain the rights to the name and records of the franchise. The new city should treat the team much like an expansion team. Similar to what happened when Cleveland moved to Baltimore.(I think)
  19. I thought that would be the inside the park HR.
  20. There is probably way to much importance put on batting order in general. As long as your better guys hit towards the top and your bad hitters hit towards the bottom you should be ok.
  21. Batting average matters even less for lead off guys than most other spots in the order. A single and a walk with nobody on base is exactly the same result. As others have stated, the lead off guy comes up with the bases empty more often than any other spot in the order. Other than Hardy, Weeks is probably the best option to lead off.(I would prefer Braun or Fielder actually, but people probably think that is crazy) He should be expected to have a higher OBP than everyone other than Fielder and maybe Braun/Hardy.
  22. All I would see Durham as right now is a backup 2B. I don't think he can play full time anymore and isn't versatile enough to keep around as a bench player. If he wanted to keep playing he would have to learn the outfield and maybe the corner infield spots.
  23. When comparing Hardy and Hall I think it is important to keep in mind that Hardy's first year in the majors was following a year when he sat out all but a month of the season with a shoulder injury. He probably should have spent at least part of the year in AAA to get ready to play baseball again instead of breaking spring training with the MLB club.
  24. 2005 I think. They have the schedule and where the games are on TV on the Badgers website. UWBadgers.com
