  1. Yes, pouring into the mouth is the preferred method. It takes some time to mix up the rest of the stuff so you should have time to slowly pour out half into your mouth as you work.
  2. I made beer butt chicken a few weeks back and was wondering if anybody had some recipes. 1 cup Butter(two sticks) 2 tbs Garlic Salt 2 tbs Paprika 1 can beer Pour out half the beer. Pour 1/2 cup butter with 1 tbs garlic salt and 1 tbs paprika into can with beer. Baste the chicken with 1/2 cup butter 1 tbs garlic salt and 1 tbs paprika. I then cooked it in the oven for 1 hour and 45 minutes. It came out really well, but I was looking for some recipes that might not require so much butter.
  3. A player who drops 20 points of BABIP would drop fewer points of BA. BA takes K's and HR into account. BABIP does not. Depending on the player, dropping 50 points of BABIP might only drop his average 30-40 points.(just for an example) I will also throw out Matt Holliday as a player who maintains a .356 career BABIP.(Coors inflated maybe) Also, I dont' think the Cubs improved this offseason, but they didn't have to. They are head and shoulders better than anybody esle in the central. Add to that the fact that nobody else improved through player signings and most don't have enough young players to imrove by more than a few wins from within. The Cubs are still the clear favorit in the central.
  4. According to Dewan's system the Brewers had the 5th best defense in the majors last year. Everything except our corner infield was good last year. I would hate to take a step back.
  5. No Crack'd Wheat for 2-4 weeks. It is still fermenting in the warehouse. I was just at the liquor store, the owner called his distributor and that's what his distributor told him.
  6. There really wasn't/isn't any reason to for Brewers fans. We already have a 1B. The only reason i remember is that I thought it was funny he was going back to his original team.
  7. Giambi signed with the A's a while back. Around January 6th I believe.
  8. No, but I am sure there would be a big push by posters to get Gamel up at 3B over Helms. I think many people would be willing to try Escobar at SS over Counsell especially if we were not expected to be competitive like when those players played the infield for us. If we were expected to be bad, then why not let the cheap youngsters play. This isn't the case however. We are very close to having a team good enough to win at least the wild card. We also more than likely would still have LaPorta who would be pushing for 1B playing time in the majors pretty soon.
  9. I think you are overlooking the fact that Hall isn't likely to be an everyday player for the rest of his Brewers career. Weeks is more likely to end up in the top ten than Hall is.
  10. My guess is that Sheets FTJ has an axe to grind with Yost, and the people who should have fired him much sooner.
  11. Was up in Oshkosh and stopped at Festival foods. No dice on the Crack'd Wheat. They didn't even have the Coffee Stout. A guy there recommended the Central Waters Burbon aged beer. I told him I preferred wheat beer and he said to try the Franziskaner Dunkel. I didn't see the Dunkel, but I did pick up a Breckenridge Agave Wheat. Has to be the thickest Wheat I have ever run across. It was as cloudy as a normal wheat beer even before doing the swirl. After the swirl it was about the consistency of orange juice, except more of a tan color. As thick as it looked, it was pretty light tasting. Good beer overall. I also picked up a Central Waters Satin Solstice Imperial Stout(that's a mouthful) for my wife. It was pretty good as well. It had a really strong flavor.
  12. If we had an infield of Overbay, Spivey, Counsell, and Helms I think that people would be looking forward to our current prospects a lot more. At this point there isn't much need to rush them since we already have quality players. I think a lot of the hype had to do with such a sucky MLB team. Of course that doesn't explain the Pirates. With our 3B situation there is already some small push for Gamel there. I would bet that if Kendall doesn't play defense as well as last year we will start to hear more people pushing for Salome to come up sooner than later.
  13. Pitchers have to cover their tattoos. I see nothing wrong with tattoos. I don't think it makes any difference to most people.
  14. I think Hall is going to have a much better year in 2009 than he did in 2008. That will be mostly because he will not be facing much RHP. The Lasik will help him about as much as it did Kendall last year. That is to say, not at all, but at least he won't have to wear contacts any longer.
  15. I was thinking more of times when a hit is more valuable than a walk. If the bases are empty obviously a walk and a single have equal value. Though BA probably should be taken into account for pinch hitting, OBP is still more important. You wouldn't want a high strikeout guy up with a runner on 3B and less than 2 outs. However a high strikeout guy would be a better if there was a guy on 1B and less than 2 outs. My only thought was that when you are using a pinch hitter there is a higher chance of guys on base.
  16. Pinch hitting is one of the times when BA should be taken into account. There are times when a hit is definitely more important than drawing a walk. I think that those times come up more often for pinch hitters. Even if they don't, the manager knows the situation and should be taking BA into account. Obviously not making an out is still more important.
  17. Yovani Gallardo. Only half kidding.
  18. Casey Close I don't remember Fielder doing as many interviews last year. Seemed like he kept to himself and I think that may have hurt his popularity. I don't think any differently about Prince than I did at the end of the 2007 season. I think he is a really good hitter who plays bad defense and will probably have to be moved to DH around the age of 30 if not sooner. As always, I hope he proves me wrong and plays good or great defense.
  19. I've seen way too many people thinking that we can just throw someone like Gamel in there and expect comparable production. There would be a small drop off overall if Gamel can play average or better defense. If Gamel is at 1B Prince is likely traded and our team would overall be better with the player he is traded for. I assume if Fielder was to be traded we would get a good player in return.
  20. Why waste a young players's service time to sit on the bench? One of the most valuable thing for teams like the Brewers is prospects. Letting them come up to sit the bench makes them one year closer to leaving. Look at the wasted year of Corey Hart. I also believe in letting young guys play so they can improve instead of rotting on the bench.
