  1. I think we actually have one of those this year.
  2. I am wondering how much traffic the site is getting tonight waiting on whether or not Shouse and Sheets accept arbitration.
  3. I am sure you could come up with a simple add on and patent it for millions. A modifier clip to bypass the safety.
  4. Baseball Prospectus has Milwaukee's top 11 prospects up now. Of course most of it is for subscribers only, which I am not. Link Four-Star Prospects 1. Alcides Escobar, SS 2. Brett Lawrie, C 3. Mat Gamel, 3B 4. Jeremy Jeffress, RHP 5. Angel Salome, C Three-Star Prospects 6. Lorenzo Cain, CF 7. Jake Odorizzi, RHP 8. Jon Lucroy, C 9. Cutter Dykstra, CF Two-Star Prospects 10. Wily Peralta, RHP 11. Caleb Gindl, RF Just Missed: Evan Frederickson, LHP; Taylor Green, 3B; Seth Lintz, RHP Ranking Challenges: There is no true, classic top prospect in the system, but a set of five very good prospects that are hard to separate, as they all combine much to like with significant issues. The dropoff from the first five is sizeable, as the system's become rather mediocre quickly due to graduations and trades Edit: Just posted all the free information.
  5. I am sure that modifying a nail gun to kill zombies in in the Zombie Survival Guide handbook.
  6. My grandpa took me to a couple doubleheaders when I was younger. I collected baseball cards and kept track of the Brewers in the paper every Sunday until around '93. Then I had only a small interest in them until the end of the 2003 season when Scott Podsednik had a good rookie year. The next year I started to go to Brewers games more often and watched many games on FSN. Since then I hardly ever miss a game on TV.
  7. Well Hardy is worried about being traded and says he wants to stay a Brewer. I would tell him to have his agent get i contact with Melvin about a long term contract. I would love to have JJ around for the next 5 years. Link
  8. I am sure that Melvin is willing to trade almost anybody if he thinks it will make the team better. His big decision will be whether he is focusing on 2009 or 2010 as our next year to compete. I think a lot of that will depend on whether Sheets or CC return. Melvin always points out positive things about any player he talks about. We never know what his intentions are until the last possible minute. I think nothing is apparent at this point except Melvin is going to do something he thinks will makes us better than we are now.
  9. If I were him I would take it back to the dealer and complain that whatever they did to it didn't fix it. There is a good chance they will refund him or not charge him for the previous repairs. I think I had a similar issue with a grand am a few years back. I could drive it as much as I wanted, but it had to sit several hours between using it or it would kill after a few blocks. I don't remember what was done to fix it, but I took it into a dealer and the did some repairs. It killed on me on the way home and I had them tow it back. They didn't charge me for the original repairs and fixed it the 2nd time.
  10. He only averaged 4 more pitches per game under Yost than he did in Cleveland. Yost also wasn't the one pitching CC over 100 pitches every time out on short rest including 122 to finish the regular season. Pitches per game Year/Peavy/Sabathia 2002/95.7/102.4 2003/100.8/104.9 2004/99.5/103.5 2005/105.3/101.7 2006/104.9/104.9 2007/106.4/105.4 2008/106/109 Pitches per inning Year/Peavy/Sabathia 2002/16.7/16.1 2003/16.6/15.9 2004/16.1/16.5 2005/15.6/16 2006/16.6/15.2 2007/16.2/14.9 2008/16.5/15.1
  11. First place. We are awesome. I doubt it last more than a week though. We have played more games(14) than Minnesota(10), Denver(12) and CC(12). They all could pass us up although CC is playing at Minnesota next weekend. We should start getting a little love in the polls soon. Hopefully we get Geoffrion and Gardiner back shortly after the holidays. It was nice to see both games on TV this weekend. Now if they could just do that every weekend. That would be great.
  12. That money has to come from somewhere. It sounds like the contract offer to CC has defered money. I would take it to mean that we are going to have our payroll go down after CC leaves to make up for years of overspending. I admit we are probably going to need CC quite a bit for the next couple years at least.(or some pitching help) Until we get some of our pitching prospects coming up through the system. I just don't want to be hamstrung by a bad contract which whoever signs CC will have to deal with at some point in that contract. We have limited means and at some point we are going to have to pay the piper. I would rather have a payroll consistently in the $85M range than have to drop it to $75M for a couple years because we overpaid now.
  13. Would his family spend much time in NY anyway? They live in Cali now and I don't see how that would change just because he played for NY.
  14. I don't think we even need that if we platoon Hall at 3B and Hart, Weeks, Fielder and Braun play closer to their 2007 numbers.
  15. I don't think he is worth anywhere near the money he is owed over the next couple years. The only way he would be is if he is an everyday player. As of right now he is the small half of a platoon and possible late inning defensive replacement.
  16. We are a small market team. We have a bad TV contract and are in one of the smallest TV markets for a MLB team. Making the playoffs doesn't change that.
  17. I don't know why we wouldn't want to go after Dunn if he was available at a reasonable price. He has been one of the best hitters in MLB for several years now. He wold be no worse than the 2nd best hitter on any MLB team. Just because he isn't the kind of hitter Dusty Baker would like doesn't mean we should overlook him.
  18. Replacing Hall's production against lefties may not be to tough(I think it would be), but finding somebody who will take him and all his salary in trade let alone getting something useful in return would be nothing short of miraculous.
  19. I like that idea a lot. The market could be a lot more friendly to big contracts in 2 years also.
  20. That's right. Fatty and Magruder scored on the HR. I knew the HR wasn't off of Santana just forgot they were still behind.
  21. They were already ahead when Prince hit his. Santana was the losing pitcher and Prince did not get his HR off of Santana. He hit it off of Jesse Crain.
  22. I think most posters realize the value of good defense. The problem is that Escobar is behind Hardy who is our best infield defender and shows up on the top of most lists for top defenders at SS. If JJ was a poor defender then I think there would be more of a push for Escobar, but JJ is a good defender who hits very well.
  23. A 5/$100M deal is already to long to begin with. I hope we don't sign CC.
