  1. The Yankees are going to get a break on the revenue sharing because of their new stadium starting this year.
  2. I don't think I am going to push my son into baseball very hard. I don't want to be that guy. If he likes baseball I will encourage it. Of course he has genetics working against him since my wife and I are both under 5'7"
  3. My son is left handed. He is 3.
  4. Escobar has walked almost as much in half again as many PA. Ramirez walked once every 13.9 PA and Escobar once every 21.5PA. That Gross deal looks pretty crappy in hindsight. There were many including myself who never liked that deal. All we heard last off season is how we needed a left handed bat. Most of the second half in 2008 we kept hearing how we need a left handed bat. Now this off season we hear that it would be nice to find a left handed bat. He isn't a starter, but would have been a nice part time outfielder and just happens to bat from the left side.
  5. and the left handed batter is actually close to as good as Cameron.
  6. I don't want to trade Cameron and gain nothing for 2010. If we are going to trade Cameron I would rather get a pitcher in return than another CF. I don't think we should spend whatever we save in payroll from the deal on another pitcher. FA pitchers are in general going to be very expensive. The contract is going to look ugly within a couple years. We do need more payroll flexibility, but what sense would it make to gain that by trading Cameron and then turn around and lose the flexibility we gain this off season along with flexibility next year and possibly the next as well? We need pitching and trading Cameron means expecting a down year in 2009 in my mind.
  7. How is this deal considered a bargain? It ends up being 3/$40M if his 20012 option isn't picked up. It is 4/$50M if his option is picked up or vested. 2012 option becomes guaranteed with: * 55 games finished in 2011, and * 100 games finished in 2010-11, and * doctors declare Rodriguez healthy after 2011 Corderos's contract is 4/$47M if his option isn't picked up. Sure $7M less if no options are picked up, but more per year and more if Rodriguez's option is picked up or vested.
  8. It would suck if Sheets went to the Yankees because we would lose out on a 1st round pick and end up with a 2nd instead.
  9. Strikeouts are about the same as balls in play outs. Strikeouts are worse than putting the ball in play. I have this showing strikeouts and other stats compared to runs in 2008. Link If you are trying to compare 2 players strikeouts should be almost completely ignored unless those players are almost identical in every other way. All my opinion of course.
  10. Are the in game threads going to be held to the same standards as the other threads or are they going to still be a place for people to post whatever comes to mind at that particular time?
  11. The same thing could be said for running backs, most good ones in free agency were either split time guys or older guys. Running back do not age well in the NFL.
  12. I think Hall will improve drastically next year not because of the Lasik but because of the platoon.
  13. I agree that Kendall played way to many games last year. How much it would improve his stats? I don't know, but I doubt it would hurt. July looks horrible. He even had a week off to rest that month.
  14. I thought this deal could go up to $50M with escalators. That would make it a pretty nice chunk of change. Edit: 4th year guaranteed based on performance.
  15. Well hopefully we are off the hook then. I still think whoever signs CC will regret it in a couple years. Although I was hoping he would go to a California team instead of the evil empire. I guess in the end all I want is for these shenanigans to be over and CC not end up with the Cubs.
  16. Russell Branyan, Guillermo Mota and Eric Gagne
  17. Well let's hope it does more for Hall than it did for Kendall. Kendall was still one of the worst hitters in MLB last year.
  18. Looking at wOBA over the last 3 years and using it to compare Mike Cameron and Abreu, I think that an outfield of Braun/Cameron/Hart would more than make up the difference in offense over a Abreu/Hart/Braun outfield with defense. 2006-17.2 runs 2007-13.5 runs 2008-7.8 runs (Abreu wOBA-Cameron wOBA)/1.15*600PA
  19. Unless we are getting a 3B back in return or plan on signing one, I wouldn't want to trade Hall. His contract sucks, but he is an excellent right hand half of a platoon and a good defender(I still don't like Bill Hill).
  20. The whole problem is that we can't afford him at the end of the deal. I somewhat disagree with that. We can afford CC throughout his contract. If there was zero chance CC would get hurt, then he would be worth every penny. The main problem is that all pitchers are high injury risks. We can't afford a player with that salary to get hurt.
  21. Either that or Nefi Perez.
  22. No way, no how. He makes Hall's offense last year look good. He has a .291 career OBP and never higher than .329. He is a sucky player, and that's being nice.
  23. My guess is that most fans think that a win in September is bigger than a win in April.
  24. I would love an opt out clause after 2 years. I think we have a good chance at some of our younger pitchers developing by then and we wouldn't need CC as much. It also lowers the risk of a bad injury. I still think he gets injured in the next couple years.
  25. I think the Brewers will always take 3rd at best behind the Packers and Badgers football. As others have stated elsewhere baseball just isn't made for watching by the general public. There is just to much of a time sink involved in keeping up with baseball compared to the other two.
