  1. That deal looks good for the Brewers, but I don't know why he would sign a contract for less money where he takes on all the risk.
  2. I have changed my mind. I don't want CC back in even a 4 year deal. 4/$100M was the max deal I would originally be happy with, but I would prefer 4 year deals for players entering their 2nd year of arbitration. A deal that buys out 2 years of free agency. That is the only way to get players for decent contracts that you can trade later.
  3. Don't let the cat run away. Take it to an animal shelter. Wild cats are annoying.
  4. Player A - Adam Dunn Player B - Aramis Ramirez
  5. There is nothing wrong with hitting home runs. Hart and Hall were much worse than just a bit(might as well say average when you are talking about .003 points) below average in OBP. They stunk. Nobody is saying that bringing back Cameron is going to make our team better. They are all saying that not bringing him back makes us much worse. Replacing Hall and/or Hart(or expecting Hart to return to closer to his 2007 numbers) is much easier than replacing Cameron.
  6. That has to be a first. Usually the criticism is overrating OBP. Most of the high OBP guys are middle of the order hitters. Some people just seem to get so pissed when someone says Cameron isnt the player to improve the offense. Most of the time that is because the options brought up are not as good of hitters as Cameron. Even going by OBP. A good hitter is a good hitter regardless of how they get their numbers. People are going to continue to be upset by your argument as long as you seem to focus on strikeouts. A .334OBP was the league average for center fielders so Cameron is just under that and he way out-slugged most of them.
  7. I don't want CC back either unless we are talking a 4 year or less contract. I think if they are offering 4/$100M the contract has a shot. I think a 5/$100M deal isn't likely to be enough. As far as Sheets, I wouldn't mind a big one year or 2 year contract. I still think the Brewers are going to see what other teams offer. Sheets might still get a 5+ year deal. I don't think Sheets is any more likely to get injured than any other pitcher, but it is almost impossible to tell what other teams think. It only takes one desperate team with money to overpay a guy.
  8. If we don't get CC I really don't care where he goes as long as it isn't in our division and he doesn't get signed by the same team that signs Teixeira.
  9. BABIP/2008/career Player A .258/.287 Player B .303/.288
  10. We still don't know exactly what to expect with Braun and Fielder(Hart also for that matter). It may be likely that their 2008 stats are closer to their true skill level than their 2007 stats. There is a chance 2007 was a career year for both. I would say that they are both better than their 2008 stats. For numerous reasons there were many people who thought Braun would have a worse year than 2007.(vs LHP split, BABIP) I really don't think it would be a stretch at all to say that Braun may never replicate his 2007 season.
  11. and post from your parent's basement.
  12. That is my thinking behind picking player A. Knowing a players career stats would probably change which player would be picked so I haven't looked them up. I will look up their career stats and post the players at the end of the week. Although I am sure it is easy enough to look up and somebody already knows. I had been thinking about this type of scenario for about a month. I actually had my mind made up and then went out and found 2 players that had a roughly equal OBP/SLG/OPS line with drastically different BA. I'd pick player B because the fans of my team would like him more. No doubt.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif More stats for the players this year. A/B H/122/160 2B/23/44 3B/0/1 HR/40/27 BB/122/74 K/164/94 SB/2/2 CS/1/2
  13. The main reason to go to closer by committee is so that your best reliever is available whenever you need him instead of just in the ninth inning. I would rather have a bunch of good guys instead of one elite guy who is only going to pitch the ninth inning.
  14. I think the infield in thing seems to fall under one of those MLB managery things much like having a designated closer. Just seems to be something managers do without regard to stats.
  15. I have Gears 2. I like it quite a bit, but was waiting to post until I was done playing through the first time.
  16. Without looking up who the player is and disregarding position, which of these players would you prefer? What would be the deciding factors? What other information would you look at after seeing so similar stat lines? Player A .236/.386/.513/.898 Player B .289/.380/.518/.898 I would pick player A because when he gets a hit, it is more likely to be an extra base hit.
  17. How often do players with big contracts get traded without the original team paying some of the contract? I think the same thing people, myself included, said about Suppan when he was signed applies to a contract for CC. If he is playing well he is worth the money and we don't want to trade him, if he isn't playing well we can't trade him because nobody will want him. If we sign him, we should be prepared to keep him for the duration of the contract. The reason a player like Peavy can be easily traded is because he signed a very team friendly deal at a below market price. That is not likely to happen with CC.
  18. I was actually thinking more of the fact that he apparently didn't get along with the players when he was fired or the poor bullpen management aspect. Then again, when you are losing it is much harder to get along with others.
  19. I still think Hardy's range is misleading because monst stats don't account for shifts. Edit: I am surprised that people are happy with a bench coach who is basically the same as Ned Yost.
  20. I think it is a little interesting that people were disappointed that we exercised the option, now they're disappointed that we may deal him. Not the same people. There were roughly 3-5 people who were upset that his option was picked up. The majority of posters were happy to see his option picked up.
  21. I don't like even 5 years let alone 6 years. I agree with TLB that once we get into 6 years we are going to get blown out of the water by a bigger market team.
  22. Are we getting fewer and fewer games on TV or is it just me?
  23. As the Brewers showed with Ann Carol, they have no problem switching people mid-season if they are terrible. It will be tough to replace Trenni, but in the end I care much more about the games than the commentators. In my mind, Trenni's job was a very small part of the season and a minor plus or minus to my overall enjoyment.
