  1. An infield of Fielder, Weeks, Hardy, Hall/Branyan is better than taking one of those guys out to include Escobar on the infield. I don't remember if it was TH or Adam McCalvy but there was a mention somewhere about Randolph working with Escobar at 2B in spring training sometime last week.
  2. Was it like his stand up comedy in GTA IV?
  3. South Park - Should come on as a feature show only 3-4 times a year. They just don't have enough material to do a show every week The Office - Nowhere near as good as even 2 years ago. The further they get from Dwight/Jim conflict the less interesting the show is. ESPN - Reformat into a regional sports, get rid of the poker MTV - all of it. There is nothing music about it. CSI - all incarnations Law and Order - all incarnations
  4. Anyway, one of the great things about the BBWAA awards is the debate they sometimes spark, and it looks like lots of folks are debating this one. There is nothing great about the BBWAA awards. The only people who think so are the writers and their inflated egos.
  5. Braun had ridiculous LHP OPS splits in 2007(1.480) to add to his BABIP. I think Fielder has a better chance to repeat his 2007 numbers than Braun does. Splits over 1.300 OPS from 2000 on(min. 100 PA) vs LHP 2007 1.480 Braun 2003 1.306 Bonds 2002 1.532 Bonds 2001 1.451 Sosa 2000 1.373 Thomas 2000 1.354 Glaus vs RHP 2004 1.609 Bonds 2002 1.312 Bonds 2001 1.437 Bonds So what does this prove? Not much really. Fun trivia though And That Fielder's BABIP in 2007 was not much below his career norm. He has had .297/.283/.298 as his BABIP in his three full seasons. It wouldn't be surprising to see Braun put up a BABIP over .320 on a consistent basis. Braun has had .367/.305 over his first 2 years. Matt Holliday, for example, has had .332/.351/.377/.359 over the last 4 years. Pujols .316/.292/.317/.340. The main thing that came out of the BABIP discussion before the season is the fact that some batters have shown that they can maintain a high BABIP year to year. We dont' know if Bruan is a .290 BABIP guy or a .340 BABIP guy yet. Without several years of data it is hard to tell if a guy is lucky with a high BABIP or good.
  6. Time to revive the TH thread for this crap. He really doesn't seem to know baseball very well no matter what he says. That ballot is just horrible.
  7. I really like the teams in the WCHA. CC, Denver, and North Dakota(not to mention Minnesota and Wisconsin) have good teams almost every year and give the WCHA huge national credibility. I like the tradition. I like that it isn't the Big Ten. I think they would only need one more Big Ten team to have Big Ten hockey. I believe that you need 6 teams to make a conference in Division I hockey. There are currently Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. It sounds like Penn State has a hockey program but it isn't Division I. One prominent figure in the hockey community thinks any talk of forming a Big Ten conference for hockey should be quickly laid to rest, because of the impact it would have on the teams that were left out. "It would be the death of college hockey," said former Badger coach Jeff Sauer.
  8. I thought your trade would make us roughly equal to what we would be without the trade. I think Cameron to whatever replaces him would be a big drop, but acquiring Vasquez would make up for most of that.
  9. Finished Gears 2 a couple nights ago. Let me say that Epic sucks at making vehicles. A tank that turns wherever you point the turret is just lame. I really liked the game although they didn't really reveal anything about the story. More questions than answers. I am looking forward to playing COOP, horde mode and insane difficulty. Maybe it was being used to the way the game is played, but I thought it was easier than the first game.
  10. I should have said lots of money over several years. I would rather have Johnson over a couple years than CC over 4+ years.
  11. Those guys cost lots of money or players to acquire.
  12. One or two more big ten teams with hockey programs and we would be big ten hockey instead of WCHA. Personally I think that would kind of suck because I like the WCHA, but it would be nice to get better coverage.
  13. The ESRB has expanded the ratings on their website(link) to include a paragraph long description of what is found in the games. I would avoid them if you can because they are detailed to the point of almost having spoilers. I thought this might be interesting to parents and teachers who normally don't play games and I wasn't sure if it has been in the news at all. There is also a website called What They Play that goes into more detail and is parent oriented. It gives a rating for what ages that seem appropriate regardless or the actual ESRB rating.
  14. I think a back up infielder for Hall would be a good deal as long as we can get the other team to take on Hall's contract. I really think the best spot for Hall on our team is a super sub, but I don't see Hall being to happy with that role. I think we might be able to get a good player from a team that needs a SS though.
  15. Only a year younger than Weeks. He would probably strike out less, but doesn't look like he would offer any other advantage. Minor league lines. Getz .286/.361/.381/.742 Weeks .289/.383/.493/.876 Just my opinion of course.
  16. I think the show has run it's course. I watch it just in case it is funny more than because I think it is good now.
  17. Now there's a phrase you don't see every day.
  18. I have it on good authority that the Brewers cannot and will not compete with a $140 million offer. Good. I would hate to make that kind of commitment to one player. I think a $100 million commitment would already be stretching things.
  19. Still with the Bob Melvin?
  20. Not even on WPT. The TV coverage for college hockey is terrible this year.
  21. Trade for Gabe Gross. Seriously though, we had the same concerns last offseason and nothing was done. It wouldn't surprise me if the same thing happened this time as well.
  22. I know that the value of money goes down over time and that is most of the reason for back loading. In this case though, it seems to be very heavily back loaded. We are going to end up paying $27M($12.5M each year + $2M buyout for 2011) over the last 2 years when we paid $14M for the first 2.
  23. Most contracts in any sport are back loaded. Usually not as badly as Suppan's. I suspect part of the back-loading in Suppan's contract is to make him harder to trade and to keep his salary under Sheets' salary.
  24. He was basically shocked at the NY offer. He didn't understand why they would offer them so much if the word is that the Brewers offered $100mil/5year. I don't know why the Yankees offer is shocking. I am surprised it wasn't closer to $150M.
  25. I would like to see Sabathia, Sheets, Gagne, Mota, Shouse, Counsell, Kapler and one of Branyan/Lamb return. We really have no use for Durham. I only expect maybe Mota, Shouse and Kapler to return from that list.
