  1. No. A ball in play is a ball that a fielder can make a play on. Except in rare cases a fielder can not make a play on a HR ball.
  2. The Cubs finished better than we did by one at bat last year. If a couple more games head to head swing either way last year, we could very easily have won the division by 4 games or been out by 6 games at the end of the year. If the Cubs had played consistent all year last year, the division might have been closer all year with them absolutely burring us in the 2nd half. The season is filled with teams playing well and bad throughout the year. I think over 162 games teams will play close to their true talent, but I believe that there could easily be a 5 win difference between 2 teams with equal talent. If things really even out, the Brewers should be expected to start losing a bunch of one run games and finish with around a .500 or worse record in one run games and overall. I don't think that is the case. We should be expected to be close to .500 in whatever remaining 1 run games we encounter.
  3. Which team had more talent. I know the Cubs had a better record, but were they really a better team than the Brewers last year. Given the same talent that every team had last year would the standings end up the same? Would the D-Backs win 90 games again or were they lucky last year? Do things really even out over the course of a season though? I don't think the Brewers have played as good as their record shows to this point. Should we expect the Brewers to fall back to somewhere around .500 in one win games by the end of the season? I wouldn't think so.
  4. We have 6 games head to head with the Cards and 10 against the Cubs. Lots of chances to make up even a 5 game lead.
  5. Even then you have to look at more than just wins and loses. W/L record will tell you who had better results, but not who was a better team. Take last year for example. The Brewers finished just behind the Cubs in the standings. Obviously if there is a big gap in W/L record it is easy to tell who is better, but even a difference of 5 wins is pretty small when you are talking about 2 teams inthe same division that play each other 12 times a year. Just my opinion, but W/L record tells you who had better results and that's about it. It doesn't tell who is better or who will be better.
  6. Yeah I thought about that too, but Braun is already signed and its not my money. I want our players to play good so the team does well. In the case of Sheets, Ihope he doesn't pitch in the all star game or if he does it is one inning.
  7. We bring our own onions to the park.
  8. Yost definitely is not very articulate. He doesn't say what he means sometimes.
  9. No, I am saying that Fielder and Sheets are a big reason that we are where we are right now. I don't think it is a good idea to trade MLB players when you are in a playoff race and replace them with AA players. Die hard Brewer fans out there tell me this are you willing to mortgage the longterm success of the team for a chance to just make the playoffs? Yes, we can't count on the rest of the NL being this bad again in the near future.
  10. I know I can't be the only one who sucked air through my teeth then let out a slow breath while reading this thread.
  11. Not quite grilled cheese slow like Vargas. Only cold sandwich slow.
  12. I have done a lot of thinking about this and I think Braun replaces Hart in right. The question I think should be "who replaces Braun in left?"
  13. I always thought Suppan's problem was going 0-2 on guys then nibbling till they walked. Frustrating either way. I hope he doesn't pitch the next game I go to. He. is. so. slow. Bathroom breaks between pitches slow.
  14. There is a link in the lead post if you want to check out the attendance since 2001 for all MLB teams.
  15. Killian's Red is somehow affiliated with Coors. Coors really has a lot of different beers associated with it that look to be from different brewers.
  16. Right around 1B on the 2nd level they have a stand with a cooler. I have also seen it other places as well, behind home plate. They have Capital Brewery beers and I think Riverfront Brewery beers. I think they also sell Mike's Hard Lemonade at those places.
  17. There are actually lots of different beers at Miller Park already.
  18. It is tough to draw hockey fans when you have like 15 division 1 hockey teams in the state.
  19. How about a gene splicing of Branyan and Kendall. Think of the power hitting/catching monstrositie that would come out of those genes. Either that or a slap hitting 3B.
  20. I would have guessed a clone of Branyan and Corey Hart.
  21. Lee/Cruz for Cordero/Mench/Nix - probably a wash I disagree on that one. Lee was likley to be gone at the end of the season and we have plenty of outfielders to the point where Cruz didn't really have a place to play with us.(although he is tearing up the PCL, at 28 years old) We were out of the playoff race with or without Lee so at that point it made sense to trade an expiring contract. Cordero stayed with up for a year and a half and then brought us 2 comp picks. Mench and Nix are nothing special, but we really didn't give up anything to get them. I wouldn't call it a great trade, but it was better than a wash.
  22. I am flat out stunned that anybody would even consider trading Sheets of Fielder at this point in the season. If we fall way back by the end of July I could understand, but not right now.
  23. Whatever is cheapest. I usually buy the ones at Qiuck Trip.
  24. Don't forget that Braun is close to the league lead in HR.
  25. If I had to guess the Twins have a slightly different drafting strategy than the Brewers. Jack Z. has stated their draft strategy is to draft power and speed. Power hitters, power pitchers. Those are things you can't teach, or that's what Jack Z says. I would think that those types of players often rely on their natural gifts to beat up lesser talent on lower levels and wouldn't lend itself to learning good fundamentals. Obviously that isn't true for every player, but as of right now it seems that it has led to a bad defensive team in the majors, though they have slightly improved this year. I am hoping that we now have a good base to start from with our major league club where we no longer have to bring up guys to the MLB club before they are completely ready. I understand how we would want to bring up guys a little early in the past where they still had warts as our MLB team was weak.
