  1. I agree, but I think that the Twins fans would trade a couple of those winning years for a shot at a World Series instead of early exits in the playoffs. That is the point we are at right now, hopefully. Do we trade prospects and winning seasons in the future for a shot at the title now? I say yes.
  2. If we are expected to win around 84-86 games 2 more wins would drastically increase our chances of making the playoffs. I am not sure CC would add 2 wins over half a season, but I would like to find out.

  5. JJ has been playing some nice defense lately. I also got a sweet picture of Hall at 3B. http://showtime.arkansasonline.com/e/img/movies/2008/Matador2_0307.jpg
  6. I think any trade of Fielder should bring us some pitching back. We can plug almost any hole on our MLB team with somebody from the minors if needed at any position except catcher and starting pitching.
  7. I am hoping for the Cards to take 2 of 3. That way if we sweep we tie the Cards and gain 2 games on the Cubs. A Cards sweep would also be good as we have the same number of losses as the Cards right now. We take care of our business and we can catch the Cards. Edit: Basically we play enough games head to head with both team that we control our own destiny. All we gotta do is take care of our own business.
  8. I have a friend up in Rochester who is a Twins fan. He said he isn't looking forward to the new stadium as he went to opening day this year in the snow.
  9. 4.5 back with 10 games head to head. I am glad I didn't give in and cheer for the Cubs.
  10. I was reading the game summary from tonight on ESPN.com and they mentioned that the attendance tonight was the Twins' largest crowd since opening day. I personally think that is pathetic considering that the Twins put out a quality team year after year. In fact looking at things by percentage, the Twins have finished no higher than 21 in any year since 2001. Also of note is the Brewers, going by percentage, are the 4th biggest road draw in MLB. Edit: Of course a few games at Pittsburgh may change that.
  11. Maybe if he doesn't pitch for a week his ERA will look respectable.
  12. Well if you wanted to go a little further than an hour there is a good public campground called Governor Dodge state park by Dodgeville. They have public showers and many trails including a small waterfall. Probably a little far to go though. I believe it is the largest state park in Wisconsin. Here is a list of state parks and their amenities.
  13. He just needs to start going a little deeper into games on a consistent basis. 7 tonight was pretty good.
  14. Bad move by the Twins. Now we just have to make them pay.
  15. I don't think it is that K's aren't bad, just that in most cases they are about the same as other outs. Obviously not getting an out would be better than a K.
  16. 2 different premium defensive positions no less.
  17. I just watched one of the spotlight shows from earlier in the week. It showed Gallardo pitching. That was a huge punch in the gut. It hurts to be reminded of how much he could have helped us this year. I had put it out of my mind until just now.
  18. Not a fan either. They seem to change the gameday stuff at the midpoint of every season. Just about the time when I get used to it.
  19. I am not making any generalizations about his future. I am only making judgments about how I feel about his play this year. If I was trying to make generalizations about his future I would use all his stats, not just cherry pick his last 162 games.
  20. I didn't think Bob Melvin was a genius for the D-Backs outperforming their pythagorean record last year, so I wouldn't give Yost credit for the Brewers doing the same this year.
  21. I thought Inman was dominant in AA last year.
  22. Get rechargeable batteries. The Wiimotes eat up batteries at a staggering rate.
  23. My mistake. I was under the impression that we were only talking about this year not any part of last year when his stats were inflated by a freakishly high LHP split.
  24. Wasn't Inman in AA last year as well? I would think the fact he is still in AA instead of getting a promotion to AAA is at least some indication of how good he is.
  25. League average OBP is .330 in the NL. That includes pitchers. A corner outfielder in the NL has a .342 OBP in left and .348 in right. "Really deficient" was an overstatement, but he is below average. Despite his SLG, it is hard for me to think of a guy with a below average OBP as a very good player. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/sortable/index.php?cid=204012 http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/sortable/index.php?cid=204011
