  1. I enjoy Russ's posts as well. He is always willing to explain what he posts if you don't understand. I admit I sometimes don't.
  2. I would sign whoever is willing to take 4 or fewer years(preferably 3 with an option in the 4th), below market, non franchise crippling contract. My bet is neither.
  3. In an average year I believe the wins between 85 and 90 have the highest value in terms of what they add to your chances to make the playoffs. Once you hit 90 the odds per game added starts to go down.
  4. I wouldn't have been happy with the trade, but our weakness isn't hitters. If we had traded for pitching I would have been ok with it. If your season is lost, trade players you aren't going to be able to keep and stock up for the future.
  5. Wow, all the Brewers players under perform and we are close to the top of every list. Well at least we know that the Brewers must have a pretty strong fan base.
  6. Pat Burrel not being on the team is absolutely shameful. I think that will make it a little tougher for Hart.
  7. Sorry to go off topic, but I thought Jenkins just missed out on being a class "b" free agent so we wouldn't have gotten picks anyway.
  8. Good job Brewers fans. I don't agree that he is deserving, but it is nice to see that the smallest market team is able to get a guy voted into the all star game.
  9. So Weeks 2006 and 2007 stats in the leadoff spot were just a fluke?
  10. I think Brewer fans are kidding themselves if they think that the Cubs and Brewers have been close so far this year, performance-wise I have to agree. However, like I was saying in the judging by wins and losses thread, I believe that a team can end up with a record worse or better than their actual talent. I am cheering for the Brewers to play over their head and the Cubs to play worse than their's. If we can hang close, we have plenty of games against both the Cubs and Cards to make up ground. Add to that the Cards and Cubs play each other 9 more times after this weekend and I see lots of potential to make up games. I don't care how foolish it is, I will not cheer for the Cubs. If it's the last day of the season, and they're playing the team we're tied for the WC with........then maybe. The only wild card team's hopes the Cubs have the chance to ruin is ours. We play the Cubs the last weekend of the season.
  11. I wouldn't run a tab except at a small bar/lounge in the early evening. I think it would be to easy to get a mix up like that during the night in a packed bar.
  12. That's a tough decision. I would rather give $12 to brewerfan than to Yuku I think.
  13. You have a good match up RH vs RH with a guy who gets himself out at an almost 70% rate to get to a favorable match up for the Brewers.
  14. Yup he is. Kendall ran the bases pretty poorly there as well.
  15. Sweet, I am going to a Rockies game on the 10th. I hope I get to see JDRL.
  16. Because it sounds better than, "I made a mistake and don't know what I was talking about."
  17. If the Dodgers win, oh well. We would be better off with a pitcher who will be here more than one year. If we get CC, I think the top of our rotation looks scary in a 5 or 7 game series.
  18. When is the last time a IBB hasn't backfired for a manager.
  19. If the best players were selected, none of the NL outfield would have made it. Neither would Braun.
  20. ESPN has us at 51.3% to make the playoffs and the Cards at 38.2%
  21. In my mind right now it is a toss up between Parra and Suppan for the third spot in a playoff rotation. I would probably lean towards Suppan. I would prefer Parra over Bush by a little and no way do I want to see McClung pitch in the playoffs. If Parra keeps up his current rate he will be out of innings and into the danger zone before the playoffs. I wouldn't count his innings so far as "typical" either. He has had a lot of short outings with high pitch counts so I think his innings so far have been more stressful than typical innings.
  22. 1. Parra and Gamel 2. LaPorta, Gamel, Escobar (or Connor Gillespie, a good hitting OFer) and Jeffress (an all-prospect trade that probably won't help us much in 2009) 3. Braun and Gamel 4. Yovani Gallardo and Gamel or LaPorta (although I would obviously prefer Gamel) Wow, can't believe any of those would make sense to us. I would think any trade involving Parra, Braun or Gallardo would be outright ridiculous. Trading any of those 3 would seriously hurt us this year and in the future. The point of trading for CC is to make us stronger.
  23. I've found 2 with message boards. The Clevelandfan The Tribe 24/7 We have 3 in our Issues and Events forum.
  24. I don't see how range is any less important at 2B than SS. Especially with Fielder and his limited range at 1B. If the knock on Hardy is range how does moving him to 2B help? I would think the only difference between a SS and 2B would be the SS needing a stronger arm.
  25. He wouldn't have any innings left for the playoffs if he has 170 during the season. You can limit a guy's innings in AAA pretty easy. They can pitch guys any way they want in AAA. Turnbow is starting down there.
