  1. Interestobserver, you couldn't be more correct. The Mo Vaughn analogy is perfect!!!!!!!!!!! Kudos to you my friend, kudos. I say strike while the iron is hot and Prince is still a desired commodity instead of just a DH.
  2. Joehova, I have to disagree with you. You can't give up Hart right now. Hes gonna be cheaper and BETTER than Prince over the next 5-6 years. Don't get me wrong, I love Prince but Hart is more valuable as a player. Give Hart another year and he'll replicate Princes numbers. Maybe not 50 HRs but in RBIs. Prince is a DH in the making, so why not let NY or the Red Sox pay him and give us a kings ransom for him?
  3. Sexson is done. The only dude that flourished in Milwuakee the second time around is Seitzer. If Seattle wants to do a Fielder for Felix and Beltre, I'd listen but nothing less than that. Richie is done. We don't need another platooning position.
  4. Endaround, what makes you so sure? Delgado is dying a slow death over at 1st base and you know that the Mets wanna make a splash in whatever they do. Prince could become the famous "Face of the Franchise" with a team with bottomless pockets. You know thats what he and Boras want.
  5. Gentlemen, I proposed this over on sportsbubbler and got mixed reaction. I'm gonna word it a bit differently to see if it makes more sense. My question is, would it make sense to trade Prince to the Mets? He wants to be "The man" somewhere and I don't think its gonna happen here since there is no way he stays with us long term. Boras won't allow that. I propose trading him to the Mets for a package of players revolving around Jose Reyes. Someone over on sportsbubbler suggested Reyes and Mike Pelfrey. I'm sure there are some that think Prince is worth a lot more and maybe he is but he wants a big stage and is there a bigger stage than NY? If Prince starts pissing and moaning that he wants out, his value will plummet and the Brewers will end up losing big time value. I don't know what the Mets have as far as a SS to take over for Reyes but if necessary someone suggested tossing in Escobar to take over. Now, I'm not saying that Prince should be traded immediately but if they go into the off season and he and Boras make it clear that they want a billion dollars, you've gotta strike while the iron is hot. Opinions? EDIT: Please use more descriptive titles - BtA
  6. Hells bells, I thought I was Princes best friend!!! This is a business. If Prince gets all pissy, trade him too. You just know that San Fran would love to build around him and have a marquee player to take Bonds' place, correct?!!!!! Trade Billy and Prince to SF for Lincecum and some other parts (I'm not real up on SFs minor leaguers) but right now, I think SF is the perfect trading partner. We could get major league talent without having to kill our minors, get major league talent in return and rid ourselves of a 10-12 milllion arby case with Prince with LaPorta waiting in the wings. Think about it before you blast me. It makes sense doesn't it?
  7. Danzig, I too enjoy watching Manny being Manny. I don't like how he sometimes just says "screw it, I'm not playing" but I do enjoy his individualism. Hes frustrating to watch from a baseball fans standpoint but if I were a Sox fan, I'd love him.
  8. Could we pare this down to the best Right handed hitters that most of us have seen? My top 5 in no particular order Manny (tops right now) A-rod (will dwarf anything Manny does) Molitor (still has a faster bat than most of the guys today) Pujols (even with what hes done already, still a work in progress) Edgar Martinez (dude was a pure hitter with a different batting stance everytime he came to the plate depending on who was pitching) Let the verbal thrashing begin!!!!!!!
  9. Brewcrew, there is no way that Hall and Gwynn bring back a #2 starter in return. It really pains me to say that too. I watched TG Sr. in San Diego for years while in the Navy. The dude was class all the way so I'd root for anything associated with him. I've always liked Hall as well cuz he just wants to play. I think realistically, you'd have to offer them to a team like the Red Sox and maybe take a flyer on Bartolo Colon, if even that was possible. There just isn't much value there in my opinion
  10. While he might be tradable, I don't think you'd get much in return. Why dump him in a Lincecum trade so the Crew could get killed in arbitration in a few years. I say ride Suppan out, at least for now, and let Jack Z find another Lincecum that would be cheap for a long time (i.e. Gallardo) Another possibility that I would consider if I were pulling the strings would be Prince to San Fran for Lincecum and another top prospect. Prince is not irreplacable as we have "mashers" waiting for their shot and there is no way that Prince is gonna sign here long term. Let him balloon up on San Frans dime. Anybody who says hes not packing on the pounds need to go to Brewers.com and punch up some video from a few years ago. I don't think the baggy uniform this year is just a fashion statement. Check it out.
  11. Its a shame when someone loses their job but Neds gotta go. He has completely lost this team. They simply are not buying what hes selling. Its time for a change.
  12. Now that would be interesting. I wonder if thats ever happened before?
  13. My biggest issues with opening day or even the day before is that ridiculous outfit that Prince is trying to pass off as a baseball uniform. When did MLB lose sight of what "uniform" meant. It loosly means "the same". How is it that some of these guys can come out looking like they are wearing pajamas and others look like balls players? I salute Kapler, Juan Pierre, Jason Veritek, etc and whoever else wears the uniform the way its supposed to be worn. I'm tired of these guys showing up to play ball with sloppier uniforms than what I'm wearing just to watch them on TV. There, I feel better. Ban the pajamas!!!!!!!!!
  14. I was on sportsbubbler earlier and Tom Hardicourt was praising Escobars "D", does anyone think that hes better than JJ? I think they should seriously look at switching Escobar to 2B while still in the minors and prepare him to take over for Rickie. If Rickie lives up to the hype, in a year or two, he should bring in quite a haul ,thus clearing the way for Escobar. Obviously JJ would be MUCH cheaper to sign long term than Rickie, so I say sign him now and solidify the SS position for years to come and let Escobar get used to 2B. If Escobars "D" is all that and a bag of chips, he and JJ would be a damn good "up the middle" combo. JJ and Escobar combined will be cheaper than Rickie all by himself in a few years, and as we all know, the Crew has to watch the bottom line. Your thoughts?
  15. If Diaz is all that and bag of chips, lets get him. Cappy and Gross?
  16. Logan, why is that? They both have options remaining correct? If a player has options remaining isn't it just as simple as saying "see ya in AAA"?
  17. You can bet the farm that the Sox will be calling soon.
  18. I agree 100%. Lets not forget guys, Capuano, Bush, Gross, Gwynn all have options left. Doug knows this and is not just going to give guys away cuz he has a surplus. You've gotta save these guys for a rainy day
  19. I'm not familiar with Torontos catching depth, but if we packaged Bush and Gross, that should bring back a pretty damn good catcher in return. A question for the minor league buffs. Do we really have any "real" catching prospects or just kids who, while working hard, will never be a meaningful major leaguer?
  20. I was thinking about starting a thread about this as well. They have to be as perfect of a match as is out there right now!!!! I think two of our most marketable/tradeable players right now are Bush and Gross. Toronto wouldn't even have to do any homework on them. I don't know who they have to offer in return but there has to be something pretty good. A 2 for 1 swap, in my mind, would be great. You'd be getting one very good player in return and freeing up a spot on the 40 man roster. I would also clear out our pitching and OF logjams. We've gotta get something pretty damn good in return though. If we have to option those two to AAA, so be it. Its better than clearing these logjams by trading them for some 1982 Ned Yost baseball cards. Time for Doug to start, to quote Harvery Korman in Blazing Saddles, to "do the voodoo that you do so well!!!!!!"
  21. Isn't there a fashion forum that could be consulted on this matter? Sorry, couldn't resist
  22. Whoever started this thread, nice one. I'm not the most internet savvy person in the world so I wouldn't know how to find out most of this stuff. Its kind of interesting reading "where are they now" pieces. Glenn Braggs is my new hero!!!!! hahaha Hamilton was one of my favorites as well. I talked to him for quite a while at spring training in 92. Very nice guy. You are correct about the TV part, he works for MLBTV. I was surprised to read about Listasch. Pretty impressive for someone who is still relatively young. Any more info you guys can post would be cool.
  23. Well said number 59. I too have wondered about Neds intensity. He seems to be fired up now that everyone and their brother (fans) are calling for his head. Do you think this is just a show to appease the fans. I also drew the comparison to Garner the other day. Garner got canned for losing with much less talent. I would love to see what he could do with the talent on this team. Again, well stated.
  24. OH MY GOD!!!! You didn't actually propose us getting anywhere near JD Drew did you? Might be the biggest fraud in sports.
  25. They already brought Kremblas up. It read it in the St Paul Pioneer Press yesterday.
