  1. I would agree Rick. Burnes is done with the Crew. Get what you can and move on. While I'm not a huge minor league guy, from waht I've seen, Mayo is exactly what we need. There is no sense in trading Burnes, Adames, Williams etc for guys who will only be here for two years. or for a whole pile of lottery picks. Go for quality. You now have a huge window with Churio as the lead dog. Go young and let them all grow together. Frelick is the one that I want them to keep, trade the rest. Trade Burnes, Adames and Williams for quality. Quantity does us no good. The Crew is sitting in a very unique position. "Lowish" payroll, several youngsters to build around, a pretty decent farm and a GM who I think is going to outdo his old boss. Lets go!!
  2. I will be as well StearnsFTW. Adames, Burnes and even D Williams would bring back a massive haul of premium talent. I just don't see how a small market team can pass that up. Get all loaded up with AAA studs and some ready for MLB talent, couple that with the youngins' they have now and you've got a super core for years to come. Small market teams can't pass up a quick reset like that.
  3. It would all depend upon his salary. I'd be for it at the right price for sure. I'm sure they are looking at film to see if they think they can fix him. Lots of potential but Rowdy output is entirely possible. Could be a struggle year anyway, so it may not make sense to pay market value if Burnes, Willy and whoever else gets shipped out.
  4. I have no problem whatsoever with taking a step back. Unless you're trying to talk yourself into it, the Crew has no "realistic" shot at a WS with the current team. Woody's loss it just too much to overcome and they didn't do anything when they did have him. Sign Woody to a friendly 2 yr, prove it deal, trade Burnes and Adames and prepare for 2025. Insist on major league ready talent in return. Tell Turang and Weimer to get to AZ to work on their respective hitting issues or they'll be in AAA again next year. I understand that Weimer was brought up out of necessity but how did he advance that far with THAT swing? I'm rooting for Turang if for no other reason than his defense but you simply can't hide a sub .600ops, nor should you have to at this level. If they can get Weimer straightened out, you trade one of the OFers at the deadline next year.
  5. Jesse bleeping Winker???!!!!!! What are they seeing in that guy? At least Mitchell runs like a deer and would make sense as a pinch runner. Yikes..
  6. NO to Payamps. Maybe to Woodruff. Yes to Mitchell. If Payamps is really this good and is under team control for 4 more years, you don't trade that unless you get something monstrous back. Woodruff and Burnes are not signing extensions. Get what you can get. We have no idea how Mitchell will come back, so if someone is high on him, make an offer. I feel good with Sal (still pretty much unknown), Weimer for his defense and Churio next year, maybe.
  7. Yes there is. BUT, it is littered with idealogical/political undertones. This is a simple yes or no question.
  8. Simply, yes or no? I'm a firm yes. I'm a firm yes if we're serious about a WS run.
  9. Who's to say that he would be? I'd think winning a world series vs being a rookie GM, Arnold would work for him. Arnold only received the GM title correct? Is Mark A going to fill the PBO role or save that to give to his next GM that wants more?
  10. It seems obvious that the Astros have their eye on someone in particular or they wouldn't have low balled Click, thus forcing him out. Think its Stearns? If so, do you "trade" Stearns to the Astros or do you let Arnold sink or swim and leave PBO job open? Personally, I don't think you can ever have too many "minds" in the front office and if hes available, why not check him out?
  11. That's it. I've had it!!! Bring up Frelick. Bring up Ruiz. Bring up Mitchell. Bring up Weimer. Bring up anybody but get someone to inject some life into this offense. Tyrone has shown to be an extremely capable 4th OF. That's it. #4. This home run or nothing business has to stop. They are going to waste the Burnes/Woodruff era!!!!
  12. I understand that line of thinking but are they truly contenders with this offense? If the answer is no, then you sell off a valuable piece for a piece. Being "pretty good" and having Hader is not going to get you to the Series. It will get you knocked out in the 1st or second round.
  13. If they don't make a significant move to get some offense, they must trade Hader. Not adding offense is an admission that they are content with just making the playoffs. He's losing value everyday that he is on the roster.
  14. I'm on the fence about this idea. Its easy to say "Lets get that guy" but I am curious though as to what would be required to get those players. I've yet to see any names bandied about. The cupboard isn't bare but the farm isn't overflowing with talent.
  15. Hader and Turang? No way. I don't care is Lewis is in the deal or not. Lewis, Kiriloff or Arriaz get talks started. Then they add more. The Brewers add nothing. You don't give up one of the premier relievers in the game with years of control left for "possibly" useful youngsters. Its gotta be something to help us now. Thats why I proposed startign with Arriaz. Hes somewhat proven. Could he flame out? Absolutely but I'm not taking lottery tickets for Hader. There is no sense of urgency to trade him, so you don't trade him or question marks.
  16. While your prediction may be a fair value, I think they've gotta hold out for Kiriloff, Lewis or Arriaz as a headliner. With Hader, you must get quality in return, not necessarily quantity. Once more and more pieces are tossed into the trade scenario, it waters it down in my opinion. Those young guys might be very good in 4 years but that does us no good now.
  17. There was speculation on the radio here that they may bring Lewis up and shift Polanco to 2nd, thus displacing Arraiz.
  18. I personally don't see the trading of Hader as waving the white flag. I see it as selling a valuable piece who is at his peak value, while at the same time, plugging holes and overall, getting stronger. Hader is not that player that is going to make or break us. Is he great? Of course but to me, his value lies in what we can get to help how and in the future. One reliever isn't taking you to the world series. Now, if they were to trade Yelich, then that owuld be waving the white flag.
  19. Well, now that the Twins have landed Donaldson, they seem primed for a trade. If they are truly going for it and think they have a shot at the big boys, offer Hader. Their bullpen is weak and they think that they are in the upper echelon. (Ignore the fact that they beat up on the weakest division in baseball). Their system is pretty stocked and could offer what we need. Start with Luis Arraiz. Hes blocked. Ask for Arraiz, Kiriloff and a pitcher or two. Smokey, Healey, and the Nerd are short term and not moving the needle. Arraiz is on the MLB roster right away and Kiriloff is in the wings if Smoak isn't cutting it. Hader offers years of control and thats what we are getting in return. This improves the overall team, with an eye on the future. Ok boys, let it rip!!
  20. This is a tough question to answer for obvious reasons. Can Burnes, Chacin and the rest of the boys in the band continue to struggle for the entire year? I don't think so but I don't think I'd be willing to bet a sizable amount on that. Just not sure we have the prospect firepower to make a meaningful improvement in the pitching department. Hiura is untouchable in my opinion and nobody else really jumps off the page. Yes there are some nice pieces, but certainly no one like him. As far a bats go, again, can Shaw, Aguilar and Cain continue to struggle they way that they have? Will Arcia get his head out of his ass and quit swinging for the fences? The glove is only so valuable when you're killing your value with no offense. Great and horrible equals average. Lots of average guys our there. Moose, Yelich and Grandal can only take us so far. I hate to say it, but I think you need to check with Moose and Grandal to see about extentions. If they are unwilling to commit, DS may have to trade them. You can't just let them walk. Reload and start over next year, because I don't think a serious run is in the cards this year.
  21. Gagne?!!! OOF. I blocked him out of my mind. I just think with the style of ball that CC plays and with potential rule changes coming (pitcher use, shifting etc), everything possible needs to be done to use CC's current style. I'm sure he can adapt to the changes, but he knows what he's doing so turn him loose with an endless supply of relievers. I'm somewhat iffy on the Moose signing. I like him but that seems to be an awful lot for what, on paper, is an average to slightly above average player who is trying to learn a new position. In CC's shifting style of ball, he may be able to be compensated for but lets hope that Keston is as good as advertised and is ready to take over next season at the latest. I personally would have liked that money spent elsewhere.
  22. With rumors going around about rule changes regarding relievers pitching to at least 3 batters and the Brewers being so close to the top, does anyone see Mark A saying "Screw it. Budget be damned. Get Kimbrell" and go for it this year? Of course, if he's still holding out for 4-5 years at ridiculous money, no thanks. But a short 1-2 year deal would be awesome. Then flip him at next years deadline if they're out of it. With Jeffress out for the time being, a replacement would be nice and once he comes back, that bullpen would be absolutely ridiculous. I would like to see them make a pitching move. Too many question marks right now for me. Jeffress, Nelson, no lefty starter etc. Can the young guys hold up? The formula worked last year and putting one more flamethrower in the bullpen would make me feel better. Just a thought.
  23. While I agree with you 100%, I think the Orioles brass will want him to go to the all star game as an Oriole. This thing could easily drag out for another week. Just a thought. Egos.
  24. The headlines, while a tease, are making me crazy. I don't want Manny. The price doesn't justify the cost. Its just that simple in my eyes. Keep Hiura, Burnes and Peralta. Trade spare parts or players out of options. We're not there yet, no sense in gong crazy. I'll trust DS to do the right thing. Excess pitching next year can be next years problem. Too many question marks remain in that area. How silly would it be to change Peralta, Burnes etc, only to find that Nelson is done, others don't bounce back from their struggles this year? Small improvement and make "The Move" when its more realistic. Just my two cents.
  25. I like the idea. I thought the same thing while watching the game the other day. However, Miami can't possibly need to shed anymore salary, so they may ask for quite a bit. The revolving door 2nd and SS that its tough to get a guage on how is truly productive and how isn't. Villar's boneheaded baserunning today is kind of the last straw for me. He's gotta be a throw in in a trade. We can't afford his mistakes and inconsistent bat.
