  1. I believe "MIC DROP" is in order. Kudos to you sir. Well played.
  2. Giving that much money to Martinez is crazy. There are much better values out there but Dombrowski seems to become enamored with names regardless of the cost. I just think that given the Brewers logjam, that jettisoning an aging redundant player is the way to go. I don't think he has negative value. I still think he holds value as a hitter but limited to negative in the field, but value just the same with escalating salaries. Ideally, he'll pick up 1st base rapidly and thrive there. Not holding my breath for that. I still believe that if Boston is set on dumping that much money on Martinez, Braun holds value for half the time and for less than half of the money.
  3. I would argue that the savings would be substantial. Whats Braun owed? 57 Mill? The numbers I've seen tossed around are anywhere from 100-125 and Martinez was getting "fed up with the Red Sox". I'd say giving up a few prospects, saving 60-70 million and not having to put up with what sounds like a huge pain in the ass would be money well spent. Think Attanasio would agree to send a few prospects to the Red Sox for 70 million dollars? He'd do it in a heartbeat.
  4. Yes, I realize that this may be a bit far fetched, and yes I know about the no trade clause but hear me out. Due to the log jam in the OF and the teams desire/need to jettison someone, why not Braun? He getting up in years, injuries are becoming expected, etc, so what about seeing if he'd accept a trade to Boston. I don't study the minors but certainly there is a match somewhere in their system. Now before the "you're an idiot" police come out to play, why wouldn't the Sox be interested? They are trying to back a truck load of money up for Martinez to essentially be their DH, only to be rebuffed cuz one truckload isn't enough, why not take Braun for half the money and half the commitment time? I have to believe that Braun would at least think about it. Perennial contender vs the unproven Brewers? DH vs the wear and tear of playing the field? An outfield or Cain, Yelich and Santana with Phillips rotating in all 3 spots and Broxton on the bench sounds pretty appealing to me. As I said, I'm not familiar with what Boston has to offer but Dombrowski is known for not being afraid to pull the trigger on a trade. OK, go crazy!!!
  5. I sure hope it happens. Anything to jump start this program. I am glad that Stearns showed restraint and didn't go all in but would like to see an upgrade at 2nd to keep out chances alive but realistically, who wants to be devoured by the Dodgers? Yikes. It would be nice to play some meaningful ball in September but something has to happen quickly. They just look like they're going through the motions. Phillips could be had for a low minor leaguer. No reason not to kick the tires. Kinsler never really did anything for me.
  6. John Briggs, I disagree that the Brewers should look for major league talent in return, if that is in fact what you are saying. I'd like to see them get 3-4 minor leaguers with potential than some OK place holder for Gomez. Taking on a major leaguer limits a rebuild since by the time the talent cycles through, that player is too expensive or gone via FA. If the Crew is gonna rebuild, then rebuild. If they're gonna shoot for 70-80 wins, whats the point? Gomez's value is only going to go down from here. There is the injury factor, less control for the acquiring team and Carlos could turn back into bonehead Carlos. Get what you can at the peak. I will miss him but hes gotta go. For my money, hes the most fun to watch out of everyone on the roster. I'm not looking forward to the next few years of getting knocked around anymore than you but think how exciting it would be to bring up another batch of players all at once like Prince, Weeks, Hardy, Braun and Hart. Those were exciting times for me and its much better than being 20 games out at the end of spring training in my opinion.
  7. As painful as it is seeing ex-Brewers running around for KC, its much easier to root for them than the Yankees or Red Sox. I would be all for trading any of our guys to KC, Pittsburgh etc.
  8. Rick Aguilera did that with the Twins years ago. Went to the Red Sox then resigned after the season. I can't recall who the Twins got for him but as I recall it was a robbery. The Twins and Aguilera were very open about the plan and the Sox still ponied up. Maybe we could talk Greinke into that.
  9. I thought of the Boston scenario as well but realistically, what could the Brewers get for him? I think he has more value to us than anything we'd get in return.
  10. I could not agree more. If you wanna give somebody that contract, you have to somehow find a way out of it. This will sink the Reds. Not complaining, just saying. haha. No way is that "dude" worth that contract. Good luck Cincy. Bye bye Dusty.
  11. Heres the link http://ca.sports.yahoo.co...-Mode-af?urn=mlb-wp22221
  12. Not nervous. I'm confident. I was there in 08 when the clinched and that was awesome but really didn't expect much out of them in the playoffs. I lived through the great teams of the 70s and 80s and that was absolutely awesome. I have the same level of confidence now as I did then. I predict absolute mashing. Series will be over in 4. I have spoken so it shall be done.
  13. If the wave is the bane of your existence, you've got the world by the ass my friend.
  14. Lets face it guys. This is our 3b/ss for better or worse. (mostly worse). We can opine about changes all day long but they just aren't gonna happen.
  15. Oh my god. That is hideous. They'll get all six of their fans to buy stuff with this logo then change it next year so they can sell six more hats.
  16. Saying hes worse than what we have is a sobering statement huh? Tejada sure did a number on the Giants. Good gig if you can get it.
  17. Boy that Vucinoch guy must be something!!!!! Seems like we've been looking at his blank silhouette for about a year now. Sorry Mod. Just an observation.
  18. If Zach keeps pitching the way he has so far this year, do the Brewers consider trading him this off season? Maybe land a SS and another pitcher in return. Thoughts? Edit: Title.
  19. JJ and dlks response made me laugh out loud. I "might" consider it but only if he were able to discuss at length what constitutes classiness and what doesn't. "Does admiring homers for 5-6 seconds constitute classiness?" "Does taking 30 seconds to round the bases constitute classiness?" "Is Tony LaRussa the epitome of class and did he write the book?" Then after the discussion, I'd whip out a pictures of Yount, Dale Murphy, Mike Schmidt etc (yes I'm dating myself) to show him what class is, followed by telling him to get bent and go all Bruce Lee on him and kick him in his other arm.
  20. I know he hit one out last night but I just can't take it anymore. There is no way we go anywhere with this guy. I actually throw up in my mouth a little bit when he comes to the plate. Now its happening at the mere mention of his name. Those half lunging swings resulting in pop ups are too much. I'm sure Melvin is trying to come up with a solution but the pickings may be slim and we don't have many bullets left to shoot as far as trades go. At this point, I'd be happy to get Omar Vizquel from the Sox and platoon him and Counsell. Does this sound like a realistic scenario or is the bile in my stomach clouding my view of reality? Does anyone think that the Dodgers would just salary dump Furcal? Maybe Yuni and his 2M buyout to the Dodgers for either him or Carroll. McCourt might just go for that if Bud and his "boys" let him. Anyone else out there worth chasing? I don't see JJ coming back.
  21. I'd like to see Gamel come up so that Casey can sit. I'm tired of watching him "protect" Prince. That would add some avg/obp, then DH Braun and play Plush in right and Gomez in center. Then you've got an awesome outfield with speed to burn. That would also allow Prince to DH for a day or two to get a day off. I see it as a win/win. Plush and Gomez in the OF would be awesome. Like them or not, they are exciting to watch. I like the way RR is running this team. Has he made out some questionable line up cards? Yes, of course, who hasn't. But you'll have to admit he likes small ball and knows how to play it. The safety squeeze last week was great. How often do you see that? Just think, Braun, Rickie, Plush, Gomez on the base paths would cause absolute chaos and probably score more runs. Lets face it, with Prince gone next year, we're gonna have to stop looking for the 3 run homer to win the game. I think Gamel will be more like Overbay with a bit more power but lots of doubles. Lets see what we've got. By the way, is there any possible situation that we could hide Yuni on the DL? He makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit. Don't bother calling me an idiot, I've got an ex-wife for that and you're not gonna get alamony. Your thoughts?
  22. Has Weeks been getting his batting coaching from Hart lately? Just dives across the plate
  23. He got the dreaded vote of confidence yesterday. RR mentioned that Dale was doing a good job and sending the hitters to the plate with a good plan and good scouting of the pitchers they'll be facing. This is just gettin ugly. Not even fun to watch.
  24. Gomez reminds me of a young Favre. Hes exciting to watch. Whether its good or bad, somethings gonna happen.
  25. I'd be OK picking him back up. However, I'd write into his contract that with RRs approval and a vote from the core players that if he screws up or shows attitude, Prince can take him into the trainers room and [expletive deleted] him.
