  1. I usually go Murphy's pregame, but that's because I'm more often than not in the bleachers and the patio lets me monitor the line. I did watch the D'Backs complete the sweep at Bernie's though, so that place will always have a special place in my heart.
  2. is anyone else a little concerned that Gagne bolted the clubhouse before talking to reporters? Isn't that kind of bush league? I was hoping to hear his side of what happened out there. Besides, Counsell and TGJ got him off the hook so he should be happy.
  3. I really don't understand this. Hart is overall a better hitter. Having him bat behind Braun will give Braun better pitches to hit and allow more options for hit and runs, etc. unless Nedly somehow thinks that Billy will get better pitches to hit with Corey behind him, this makes absolutely no sense. It's not even April and we've already been Yosted.
  4. I really can't picture the game not getting played on Monday. With all the hoopla, they'll get it in if it's at all possible. But yeah, it is not going to be very much fun. I'll probably have to bust out some long underwear or something. I wouldn't want the Cubs opening in Miller, because opening weekend is a good draw anyways, but there's no reason to be playing in Chicago in March. It is miserable out right now and I don't anticipate it getting much better by Monday.
  5. I just read on Jsonline that Yost is leaning towards batting Bill Hall 5th instead of Hart! Maybe i'm wrong here, but Hart is a much better hitter than Hall so he should be batting behind Braun!
  6. I'm all for lineup continuity and if TGJ can hit/get on base at the clip he has been this spring, i'm all for it. I just think that's a little bit of a long shot to happen. Although you'd think he'd get a good number of fastballs to hit hitting in front of Prince/Braun.
  7. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2008/03/cubs-sign-reed.html looks like they have no faith in Pie and that Murton may be out the door.
  8. i'm sorry, but I had to repeat this because I literally just laughed out loud at my desk. I think this puts it into prespective pretty well.
  9. are Parra and Villanueva going to be able to pick up the slack? I know given Parra's injury history and limited innings last year that they should really watch his innings this year, but what about Villanueva? Does anyone know if there is an innings limit on these two, or even Yo for that matter?
  10. it makes me very concerned that TGJ has been in the 2 hole the last few games here.
  11. well this is also the publication that predicted a Dodgers/Angels WS last year, so i'll give them a pass. Even so, that is pretty laughable.
  12. Rob Deer was one of my favorites growing up. Still have an autographed baseball sitting on a bookshelf in my apartment. That stat right there absolutely blows my mind!
  13. what about Jonathan LuCroy? If I'm not mistaken he was a college player so I guess I figured that he'd be relatively close to the bigs. Although I guess catching prospects probably take a little longer to develop.
  14. I'll be the first to admit that I haven't payed nearly as much attention to Rottino's career as some around here but does he really have the catching chops to be a full time player behind the plate?
  15. from Haudricourt's latest blog: I really hope that if for some reason Manny is up to start the year it is only until Yo gets back. I love Manny and I think he's going to be great, but it will be a lot easier to monitor his innings in Nashville and with his injury past, I don't think we want to take any chances with him. So are we looking at something like this: Sheets Soup Bush Vargas Parra Cappy and Yo on DL, Villanueva to AAA? or does Bush go to AAA with Villy in the rotation?
  16. wait, so for those who did the 9 game pack, you're getting the 10th game (opening day) mailed separate from the 9?
  17. glorious. I know it's been coming, but it's good to see it anyways. but i agree that really, the Bucks are kind of screwed until Herb sells the team.
  18. For you indie rock fans out there, I found this little nugget. Stephen Malkmus (formerly of Pavement, currently of the Jicks) did some talking about fantasy baseball and it just so happens that he loves the Brewers! Talks a lot about Braun, Yo, Corey Hart, it's a great read, especially if you're a fan of his. I didn't think it was possible, but he just got a little cooler. http://17dots.com/2008/03/07/stephen-malkmus-fantasy-baseball-preview/ (link contains some strong language here and there, just a warning.
  19. as a staple of my fantasy teams since he's entered the league, I hope he goes 40/40 this year while leading the Orioles to 65 wins.
  20. man, that Doug Davis trade is looking prettay, prettay bad right about now.
  21. does the delivery confirmed thing mean I have to sign for something or are they just shipped pretty much the same way as the individual game tickets?
  22. Still waiting as of 3/18 down in Chicago for my 9 pack. Getting a little frustrated, hopefully the show up in the next day or two.
  23. how angry would you be if you were the Pirates. They're a joke of a franchise and then the Yankees sign a 60 year old actor for one game and bat him leadoff against you? I know it's only spring training, but I would have been highly tempted to brush him back.
  24. no matter what, this is not going to be anybody's idea of an optimal solution. as much as it pains me to say it (i love gross and pretty much think gwynn should be gone), i think gwynn should probably get the majority of the ABs. he's probably a slightly better defender than gross, which i think is important with braun out there. gross' bat would be good to have on the bench too. i'll echo the sentiment that i'm worried that kapler has somehow gritted and battled his way onto the roster instead of crazy joe dillon. i haven't heard his name ONCE this spring training!
  25. I know Ned is all about batting the pitcher 8th and I am fairly supportive of trying it out. Maybe, however, when Sheeter is pitching, we stick with batting him 9th? What do you say Ned?
