  1. Bat size is all comfort...some guys just can't adjust to longer or heavier bats.... Braun uses a 35 inch bat (i think) which is gigantic, but it works for him Man, last night weeks looked horrid...he was loaded to swing at every single pitch, and flailed wildly at stuff that he had no chance hitting... he needs a couple days off
  2. aren't these inherently based on terrible small samples themselves, defeating your own argument that we have no idea what kind of hitter he is?
  3. Yes it is. OPS doesn't become meaningful until 500+ AB and even then it is just the bottom end of meaningful. A full year of OPS in baseball is still a small sample. a small sample of what? I get the idea behind a fluke season, but at some point you need to look at exactly what you are trying to figure out... If you need a full season to judge a sample, then are we trying to determine the value of the player over his career? How long is the career you are judging? also, your pronouncement seems derived to specifically disarm any argument that's not your own.
  4. i felt like yesterday was a water shed moment... he hit a ball that he thought was a homer...it wasnt...and then...and then...and then......... just when i was sure he'd fall out of his shoes swinging at the next one, he just shrugged it off and drew a walk... Carlos has been this good since the end of June last year---he's been a .750+ hitter for 300 full at bats...that's not a small sample any more... i think I'm ready to admit he's turned a corner and become an above average hitter with ridiculous defensive skills....
  5. It is beyond maddening. Pretty much started with FatterThanJoey and Brian leaving. They used to hold everyone accountable. Next you lose Pogo, Sessile, AndThat, Patrick, Russ and Sam and you just get a smorgasbord of nonsense, hindsight GM's, and kneejerkers. I think the best (and there are some really smart ones) of who's left are just tired of having to explain the same basic concepts over and over again. I searched past Rickie Weeks threads. There are multiple made every year going back to 2006. Most are negative of course. The ones that start positive, often are infiltrated by posters who hate strike outs. Seriously, why must Rickie be defended multiple times every single year? Do people not realize the state of MLB second baseman? Even at his very worst, there are not 15 second baseman I would trade him for. At his best, he is an all-star. Get over it already. still here... although, rickie's astronomical k rate right now makes me want to pull my hair out
  6. it's funny how statistics trend towards the middle in baseball... much like last year, i think this team is a little better than a .500 ball club as it stands, and much like last year, they will get there... now, if they win 20 in a row....
  7. this is all amazing considering he would still be arby eligible this year...crazy to think he might break a bunch of team records in his first 6 full seasons i wouldn't count him out for 50 home runs this year...i wouldn't count him out for any statistic
  8. FINALLY going to get to see Roache in a box score
  9. The Brewers pitchers has great peripherals last year too... gotta hope that means they come around...
  10. Yep, Anderson said a couple weeks and Ash reiterated... also, they said Bianchi will be ready soon and Hart is definitely back on May 30
  11. i think the reason is seems like it's more than 5% of the time is because the brewers blow three run leads late in games about 50% of the time... the rest of baseball does it much less often
  12. Dumping Yuni creates a 40 man spot for one of the first baseman as well.... trade yuni, dfa lalli, ring up bianchi and a AAA first baseman
  13. Ignore winning percentages over a full season... That's just useless noise... Even with the missing players, this team is better than a .250 Winning percentage I'm sure that more than a few playoff teams have had 2-8 stretches... To quote Douglas Adams, don't panic
  14. Before you guys dismiss this, realize that Erick Aybar signed a 4 year deal for 35 million in the off season... Segura profiles as similar, if not somewhat better...the team would probably benefit form approaching him immediately and trying to pay off all of or some of his arby years in advance... However, I agree to some degree with the two previous posters in that they should at least run out this year, to make sure he will at least stick in the bigs
  15. i'm pretty sure longoria signed his deal within his first month in the majors
  16. Loe has actually been worse than Axford, so i think he's done in the majors for a while could be Seth McClung, who was last seen pitching in Mexico
  17. Brooks Hall mowing them down on the Space Coast
  18. I've always thought the DH would be in the NL eventually---It's also one of those rules that everyone will carp about until it's changed, then almost immediately forget what the game looked like without the DH in the NL. As Stark Mentioned, no one under 40 has grown up without it---which also means they've never played in a league that doesn't have it. Seriously, a ton of REC and Juvenile leagues feature the EH now, which, if anything, shows how far the actual game style has shifted. also, the Brewers would have a place for Khris Davis
  19. The team actually announced yesterday that Rogers will return to the team as a reliever... i think the only reason they haven't already done this is the concern that he can't pitch on multiple days in a row
  20. This should mean that Maldonado and lucroy will play 1b
  21. they either need to bring up a catcher or a first baseman... they could bring up lalli and let maldonado play first or they can bring up one of the 2 major league ready 1b's at nashville i would guess the reason no corresponding move was announced with the dl of narveson was because they are trying to decide who to remove from the 40 man that or they are bring another reliever because screw everything
  22. so, Segura is day to day which means he won't play tonight and the Brewers will be down to a 3 man bench made up of the back up catcher and two center fielders this is a sick joke
  23. what can you say...that was pathetic, ridiculous, absurd, and awful
