  1. On the surface, I didn't think there was much difference here bew morgan and gomez, but if you look at the obp for morgan, you'll see that he's a lot better really...even in his worst year (last year, unfortunately) Nyjer still had an ok obp...in his 3 previous seasons in the bigs, he's had a good obp, which means he's probably better than gomez...i hop he starts and gets 400 ab's in center
  2. I'll second Dan Merklinger---killed to end last season I also like Amaury Rivas to bounce back to his 2009 k levels
  3. I remember Maldonado being lean and lanky in A balll...has he gotten bigger? Corporan was always bigger...i think Martin is just developing slower...he's pretty fun to watch as well.. but the main point here for me has been how ungodly awful our catchers have been over the last 5 years...ugh
  4. I think brandon Boggs has a really good shot...especially since Gamel is useless.. i don't know...I'm still hoping it's like mike Cameron, or what the heck devon white...
  5. for those who think lawrie gets a greinke deal done...do you really think melvin didn't call them first? I would guess lawrie wasn't near enough for greinke...
  6. if weeks gets resigned, then i'm not as miffed about trading lawrie...as good as he's been, i think his peak was weeks this year... likewise, if weeks is resigned, the only place for lawrie to play woulda been 1st or 3rd...and i think gamel would outhit him at either of those places...actually, mcghee's numbers this year might be better than anything lawrie ever does.. not what i was expecting...but i really think this was a fair deal
  7. im very excited if this is jeffress or rogers for marcum..that would be a wonderful deal for us...which is likely why it hasn't happened lawrie for marcum is a fair deal...marcum is not an ace...but he's better than every pitcher on the team but yo...and by a wide margin..its conceivable that the two of them could be very close nest year.. likewise...while i think lawrie is a top prospect, i'm not sold on hr power past 20...and, if weeks is resigned, he's gonna have to play 1st or third...where his offense is gonna be less valuable. nonetheless...i was hoping (deep inside with no real chance) that they'd trade lawrie+ for greinke :0
  8. Just thought this was interesting because there were several here who wanted the Brewers to attempt to trade for him way back win...some even claiming that moving Prince for him was a shrewd idea... Duke, Like Francouer, has demonstrated that sample size is actually important!
  9. as a resident of Georgia, i will justifiably say that all of the characters are horribly, and sadly generalized versions of stereotypical southerners...in fact, the topic of most conversation I've had about the show has been about the disappointment that the show didn't get further away from Kirkman's dopey stereotypes...That said, at least it didn't snow when Rick reached Atlanta like it did in the book...the comic made it look like they were all going to die of exposure, which is probably less likely in ATl than a zombie attack
  10. yes, my wife thought it was thoroughly disturbing...the best thing about waking dead is that there are no easy solutions...it makes the whole epic more real even though it's an impossible real
  11. DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE. yes, i will be watching...that's a great comic...looks even better in this format...
  12. When it comes to Yanks, red Sox, and Braves prospects, I think a lot of it is promotion and national exposure...It's hard to watch any of those teams on TV...or see them mentioned on Sportscenter without the broadcaster commenting on how awesome some prospect of theirs is...also, just the amount of people that follow those teams and talk about their prospects seems to cause people o view the players in a more positive light...
  13. I had Bill Pulsipher in my head for some reason... I actually remember being pretty excited when the Brewers signed this guy...other than that, i wouldn't have guessed it...
  14. i wonder how this would compare to the times we did this in the past... hmm.. i'd say most of us were pretty spot on with the same things we've said before...http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif i'll throw in one more album that changed everything musically for me: Devo - Freedom of Choice
  15. It's been a year or two since I've done this...I love hearing new music, and I use these lists to aim myself towards albums I should own, but don't mine's still: The Clash: London Calling add yours:
  16. Rafael belliard...ops + of 46...actually had a year where his ops + was 2 in 148 PA's...sure, he was versatile, but he may have been the worst hitter in history
  17. Does Hunter Morris remind anyone else of Brendan Katin? I'm just talking statistically here, as I haven't seen the guy play in person...I guess I'd like to know if those of you who have seen him think he will be more patient once he adjusts further to pro ball
  18. why would anyone need to guess on that...
  19. it would seem he will start 2011 at AAa...at 25, that's not great but not bad...the brewers must love the kid gamel and cain are too old and hot to be screwing around in AAA when the mlb team is 8 under in august...
  20. if werth is the top of the crop, then were goo because he and corey hart are the same hitter
  21. i disagree with the corner outfielders are easy to find assesment...yes....750 ops corner outfielders are easy to find...but corey is not that...he's an .815 ops guy with the potential to do a lot more... if the brewers had cut him last year, i suspect we would've had a austin kearns or jermaine dye in right...we would have been worse...and for what gain elsewhere? of course, i think you could make a good argument that matt gamel could replicate corey hart pretty well for a fraction of the cost...
  22. right.. what i want to know is if you win more games by hitting people...also, if you lose more games by getting hit.. i would also like to add the variable of player suspensions to this... overall, i think it's stupid and that it's the kind of thing fans think players do...but players don't actually do it..
  23. If they really do think that the other teams are trying to hurt them, then they should sic'em with lawyers...just hitting them with baseballs is idiotic... just name one team that missed the playoffs entirely because other teams tried to bean their players...i really am curious
  24. well, if it's the brewers job to protect people from things they did off the field or months ago, then why don't they just hire body guards to beat up the cubs in the parking lot? protecting players is just dumb...these guys aren't 15...if it doesn't help the team win, then what's the point?
