  1. ialso hate both u2 and field of dreams...you probably should have said the best baseball movie since the sandlot
  2. yeah---this is a reasonable pickup---the brewers desperately need starting pitching, and doug could easily be a part of the rotation next year
  3. Yeah, the last month has been a bright spot on a season that is beginning to suck in every imaginable way.. so yea, lucroy's looing pretty stout, but for the 50 pts. hes gained, Brett lawrie and mat gamel have lost as many...wooo.
  4. a ptbnl is what you get for quality older veterans... so selling won't get us much of anything of value...
  5. I think hall just goes on the bench and you get a platoon of cat and gerut...there's no way they are going to play hall over those other two when they weren't before...
  6. Ken Macha has not proven to me that he can have counsell on a team with gamel and not play counsell
  7. "You are only going to get a A baller at best for him, he only makes 1 mil this year and is probably the 3rd best offensive player this year. " The upside is he gets out of the way for someone who is a part of our future... Craig Counsell playing out of his mind is about the same as the "Terrible" version of Gamel we saw...
  8. more than anything, i hope they trade counsell and bring up gamel to play him every single day from about august 15-the end of the season...
  9. we don't have any upper level pitching prospects without injury worries...i'm going to call that killed our chances at a lot of these deals this year
  10. Hoffman works out fine, because if no one wants him, we get him back. I suspect the brewers will offer him arby because he won't get a huge raise and they likely want him back i think felipe will get at least a 2 year offer from someone...last year was weird...and now felipe's sample of good work is over 600 plate appearances...he's a lot better free agent than he was at this time last year...the fact that he's a type ba should make it much more likely that he signs somewhere if the brewers offer kendall arbitration i will vomit blood Cams a tough call because he will easily find a new home (if not here) but he probably won't get the 10 million he'd get if he just accepted arby
  11. the bailey thing is really similar to phil hughes, who buy the way, has turned into johan santana since they moved him to the pen
  12. this ones finalized, take conversation to the majors...
  13. well, they could just play Hall at 1b over Koshnsky... they won't have any trouble finding ab's for Hall in AAA...
  14. that's two open 25 man spots...
  15. I would expect it to be someone in the eric fryer/brian wolfe mode...
  16. todd coffey, while brought in last year, does pretty much fit your billing Colby--- watch Jesus Colome closely in AAA as well... I also suspect the team was hoping for more from Nick Green and Chase Wright
  17. The problem is that when he went deep into games a couple seasons ago, he got injured...which is why some see him as a reliever...he's only thrown 40 innings this season...he'll need to be able to throw 180 to start in the majors...that's a huge gulf
  18. wouldn't they want Fedor to fight asap? He's ready for a fight with his affliction bout cancelled.
  19. the problem with rogers is the pitch count...clearly, he's on a schedule, so you can't use him out of the pen in any traditional sense and the fact that he can only go 3-4 innings means he's not really a starter...yeah, he's got huge potential, but all the question marks remain...
  20. on a serious note, if he's hurt, who is going to start in his place? I guess it has to be chris cody or josh butler at this point...
  21. who is cameron blocking?
  22. cool---dream fights are free on hdnet
  23. but he won't...look what we paid for felipe lopez...a former all-star in his walk year with very good numbers---that's about the best we could hope for for cameron and top 15 guy with clear problems and a huge question mark guy in the lower minors...that's not worth punting the season over..
  24. at what point can i be disappointed in jon lucroy's season? he's turning into jason kendall
  25. The problem is that punting the season would kill attendance...so the admin has to take into account what the return would be for guys like these up against just how bad the team would be with Jason Bougeoius in Center, Mark DiFelice Closing, and Time Dillard and Mike Burns in the rotation... What would we get back for the guys you suggested trading...mid level prospects... it's simply not worth it...they are better off playing 500 ball and finishing third while selling 2.8-3 million seats than going 10 under and gaining some top 20 prospects... that's why they aren't selling...the only players we could cash in for huge prospects would be yo, fielder and braun, and that ain't happenin'
