  1. Can't believe i missed this...freaking amazing...
  2. he told me if he pushes it he can get 92, but for a lefty 89-91 is plenty fast...hopefully he gets healthy and i get to see him pitch this year, but i havent yet...
  3. The only guy i wouldnt trade is inman because i think he could be in the mlb pen ... not saying he should be, but i've seen people suggets we flip him for a reliever, and i think inman would probably help the pen more than most anyone we could trade for... that said, i'd trade him for the right player...but it needs to be a bonafied star.. past inman, i'd trade anyone else...i'd be slower to trade someone like salome than one of the outfielders, but i'd trade him...it's so hard to project guys in the low minors...so it's kind of a crapshoot on who will progress in the right direction and who won't...
  4. 91 on fastball
  5. a lot of the bullpen guys were/are starters and are plenty strectched out to get innings...remember, in the low minors, the org is way more interested in the guys throwing than the team winning..
  6. he told me he was on an 80 pitch limit, so the fact that he is making 5 innings over and over is a great sign...if he were allowed to go 100-110, he could probably make it 7 or 8...very good signs
  7. i watched the guy hit 97 on a stalker gun about 15 times in his debut...i don't know what was up in WV, but he's got massive speed...
  8. i like it a whole bunch...i love the surprises...it probably won't be an all time favorite for me, but its fun at the moment
  9. the brewers have never let the inability to play defense slow a players progression down before, so they won't with Laporta either... he'll be promoted very aggresively...you just dont draft a guy 7th and then keep him in the minors until he's 26
  10. will works 90-92...but he can throw it harder than that...if he were a reliever, i bet he'd be in the 93-94 range... jim powell compared him to Carlos Villanueva a few minutes ago, and that's probably not a bad comp, but will strikes out a lot more people..
  11. yeah, i've been as pro cole gillespie as you can be, but his numbers have been sliding all year...i think he's missed his chance to be promoted at this point...
  12. this is a great discussion...lets keep it that way fellas...
  13. i dont see salome moving up mid season...remember, one of the benefits of keeping him in BC is that he can DH when he's not catching...
  14. i'll go through all the names and give my take: Laporta is a total mystery...i want to thow him in AA and hope for the best, but i think that won't happen until next year. Gillespie will still be promoted to Huntsville this season...its shocking to see brantley skip over him, but i dont think brantley is the one blocking him..his batting average is very low, but everythign else is fine and i think he'll hit .280 in huntsville Brantley's discipline is amazing, and he looks like a power hitter in 2007 after looking like a stick in 2006...he seems to be over his injury issues of last year, so hopefully he'll continue to develop a little more power...of course, a guy with a .400 obp only needs to slug .400 to be extremely useful...he's not a cfer defensively though, so dont get your hopes up on that Lorenzo cain has shown no power this year at all, but like brantlye, he looks like a power hitter...he plays great defense, runs very fast, and draws walks while hitting for average...he's really very similar to carl crawford in potential, but he's looked a bit like TGJ this year...he hit for more power last year, and i still thik he's a 20 hr guy in the future.. Darren Ford has been phenomenal this year...he was good last year, but his power is way over expectations...i think he'll look a lot like lorenzo cain in BC...they are really similar except for Cain's superior eye at the plate. Darren has the potential to start in the majors, but he's unfortunately competing with his best friend for CF, because neither guy will hit enough to be an above average corner...BC is the right place or the rest of the year Matt Gamel is still a 3b...and i genuinely believe the brewers want him to stick there...i'm not sure why...perhaps they plan to trade him? anyway,he's got legit power even if he's not hitting homers this year---he'll finish with more than 40 doubles, and i suspect 10 or so homers...he projects to hit 25 or so a year in the majors...he's pretty quick, so he could play corner outfield...he's a one step at a time kind of guy, and should definitely be at BC for the rest of the year Fermaint is an enigma. His potential is probably above everyone above him...he has th ability to bat .300 and slug .550. of course, Christian Guerrero did as well...he's very hard to project...he really shoulda been in AA this year, but the brewers have him in low a now...i think he'll be traded..,he seems to be at the bottom of their priority list...i think nelson cruz will turn out to be a very similr comparison Brendan Katin hits for good power, but doest walk enough or hit for much of an average. I suspect he'll spend a couple of years in AAA and have a decent major league career...He's agood prospect, just not a great one. people talk about Laporta like he is what he is, but he's still got a huge ceiling...katin kinda is what he is...i think he'd be an .800-.820 OPS guy in the majors with about 20 homers...maybe like x. nady or michael cuddyer...good, not great...he'll probably get lsot in the shuffle as he is a corner outfielder or 1st baseman only Steve Chapman is a five tool prospect, who unlike cain has been showing above average power already. Steve's onnly 21, so while 3 years in rookie ball was undoubtedly frustrating, he's still on the corey hart schedule. Steve is a fiery dude and plays extremely hard---he'll be a fan favorite as he moves up the ladder..he's the kind of guy that could split a year somewhere between levels so that he winds up in AAA at 23...he can play all three outfield positions well... drew anderson is getting old and doesnt hit for power...you saw him in milwaukee last year...he's not really a prospect...he'll probably play in another 5-6 organizations and spend some decent time as a backup in the majors, but he shouldn't have much impact as a starter anywhere.. I wasn't one of the ones who loved steve moss..i've never seen him play, so i can't comment from that angle, but i've never been too high on him. that said, he should be in AAA...at a minimum, he's blocking other players... Chuck Caulfield was a college senior who hits for a high average...he should be dominating Low A, and is...w won't know what kind of hitter he really is until he get to AA, but he probably won't get there until he's 25. He's kind of like Anderson really...just a good hitter, but not quite a starter in the majors... Lefave is in a similar boat to caulfield age wise, but he's been destroying low a...i think he's still a prospect...but the crew needs to bump him up fast...he's the kind of low risk promotion that i think should be rushed...he should be the next guy to BC (after kenny holmberg, who should probably be in huntsville)...and if he succeeds there, they could try him in AA later in the year...he brewers need to test to him to find out if he's for real.. Alonso is a good hitter, but more of a first baseman than anything...he's still young and playing at the right level i skipped s
  15. yeah, this sucks...
  16. i'd say this year definitely for me, though 2003 was quite special as well: 2003: i felt like there was hope coming in the form of hart/hardy/nelson/jones and i drove like 6 hours tow watch those guys play in Huntsville with Michael (madbad2000) and chris (billscottcanrake). We had a blast and we got to hobknob with hardy and hart, which was cool, and we spent haalf the game in the pressbox with mark mccarter (beat writer) and robert portnoy (announcer)...it was all cool, but... 2007: Just watching hardy, fielder, hart, braun, weeks, and very soon yo, play in the majors is a dream for me...seriously---i saw braun and yovani in BC almost exactly a year ago...it's just too cool for them to be in the majors...its also satisfying to get to see hart and hardy produce finally---it seems like we've been waiting a long time for those guys, but they are both still young...down on the farm, i've gotten to witness the awesome Power, and get to know a few of the key players...i'll evan admit i had a whole conversation with taylor green when i thought he was kenny holmberg...stuff like that makes this year amazing to me...getting to be at jeffress' first start, listening in on conversations between zach braddock and alex periard, having Mike Mcclendon look ashamed of himself (in a totally humble way) when he told me his fastball only hits 86 "but i pound them with the sinker...) those things have made this season special for me...the fact that the teams have been off the charts good, well that's even better... 2007 has been one of a kind so far...i have no idea how much better it can get, but i feel that it will...i mean, manny parra's finally in AAA...brent brewer has a .350 OBP...it's just too much, man
  17. i dont understand this at all.under no circumstances would any auto racing santioning body (outside of the world rally championship) allow this to happen...so why the heck did these people think this was a good idea? insane.
  18. i only got to watch his debut...but the differential is for real...i think the control issues will continue, but its not for lack of trying on his part...he really looks like pitcher..i was wholly impressed, and honestly suprised at how good he looked....
  19. he has an awesome breaking ball...most of his strikeouts come on it...he's also got a huge speed differential something like 73-97...quite nice..
  20. while i appreciate that we would have to trade some pretty good prospects to acquire good talent, i'm not sure i want to move parra or gillespie right now...TGJ might be a shrewd move, however... the brewers won't get an impact player for any combination of bush, vargas, jenkins, mench, cappellan, or sarfate...though bush and vargas do have positive value... jenkins playing ability is probably worth more than he is in trade
  21. I think Callix is still the same guy he has always been...he's not really a "prospect" because he doesn't project to be much of a big leaguer... Pecota ( a reputable projection system used by the guys at baseball prospectus) has Callix at .257/.337/.342...i dont think his stats in nashville would alter that projections much...he just doesnt have a whole lot of versatility and he posesses no power at all... he'll play in the majors, but he probably won't start
  22. in general when i say discipline, i'm referring to his walk rate...i should have clarified... an older college hitter like caulfield should probably walk more than he does...that said, it's hard to argue with a .330 batting average
  23. i think he'll wind up in the pen before he hits too many innings...i think they'll try to get him 150 or so, simply because he's 24, and they are nearly out of time and options with him...
  24. His age and his plate discipline cause him to be behind about 10 other outfielders, but he's having a great season, so you never know... he's the kind of guy that may never be viewed as a top prospect, but could still have a decent major league career
  25. kneisler's white house?
