  1. Ugh...I hate Easter Sunday games. There's no way I can make it to this game with all of the Easter activities going on with my family. I actually have tickets to this game as part of my 10-pack that I'm going to have to sell. If anyone gets an extra copy of the 2011 DVD's I'd gladly take it off your hands. http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gifIf you have multiple tickets to this game, couldn't you sell them on the condition that the buyer saves one of the DVDs for you? My extended family has never been big into Easter, for whatever reason, so we're free that day and excited that there will in fact be a 2011 season highlight reel. That seemed like the kind of thing the Brewers would/could have sold in time for Christmas, and when they didn't I started to wonder. I get the Brewers' strategy in trying to boost attendance on a Sunday that might not otherwise be a full house, but I wish they'd picked a non-STL day for this particular giveaway. Any of their faithful who are into the Cardinals enough to travel to Milwaukee/MP on Easter Sunday probably have their own 2011 highlights DVD (or, I shudder to think, DVD set) already; and although you'd think a fanbase as classy as theirs might include individuals who kindly offer a Brewers fan their unwanted freebies, imagine how much they'll go for on eBay instead. Anyway - it's hard to imagine that the April 8 game will be the lone opportunity for fans to get these highlights. The Brewers could easily sell copies after that date. Or I would be happy to take the ticket off your hands and make sure you get the DVD. http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif
  2. Well he did "bring back" Corey Patterson this year! Claudio Vargas, David Weathers, and Ray King?
  3. Can they really be evil anymore if Russell Branyan is wearing their uniform?
  4. The Muscle continues with his quest to play for all thirty major league teams.
  5. I am pretty sure that Gary Sheffield became his own agent as well, and negotiated his deal with Steinbrenner and the Yankees himself.
  6. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/02/yankees-sign-bill-hall.html It doesn't seem like it would have been a terrible idea to give him a look for our bench at the cost.
  7. I won't re-suggest all the great restaurants/bars already listed in this thread, but agree on just about all of them for great food and a unique NOLA atmosphere. You mentioned being pumped up about the WWII museum (started by Wisconsin's own Stephen Ambrose by the way) which is a good bet. If you are into history though I would also suggest heading out of town a couple of miles (had a car to get there, not sure on cab cost) and going to the New Orleans battlefield at Chalmette from the War of 1812. I personally am a history nerd so absolutely loved it, and if you're into that sort of thing it's worth the trip. Also, my gf is a big fan of looking at more of the "haunted" history of places we go. There are a few places offering the history/ghost walking tours which are kind of cool in a corny way.
  8. Thanks Hawing. Yeah, it just seems like something is missing from the organization celebrating the second playoff appearance in my lifetime.
  9. For some reason I'm remembering a Christmas-time release with a showing at the Pabst. Again, my memory could be fuzzy though.
  10. Perhaps I missed it, but I'm a bit surprised that the Brewers haven't released a DVD celebrating last year's season yet. I know that they did produce one for the '08 season, and for various seasons from the organization's history. Perhaps its because of the FoxSportsNet special that's run a few times over the off-season? If anyone has any insight on this I'd be interested.
  11. I actually laughed out loud when he said this during what was an otherwise sad press conference.
  12. Unfortunately, I am in the "very worried about Mat Gamel" category and I think that the organization is too. I sincerely hope I am wrong, and have no reason to think that any past personal issues about his work ethic are clouding my judgment about future performance. I do however believe that if he was viewed highly by the organization, that they would have found some way to reward him with a September call up last year. I know that Prince was obviously in the way of him getting any playing time, but you'd think that even just the exposure to a pennant race in September would be a meaningful experience for a younger guy. I wouldn't be surprised if Melvin were doing all that he could behind the scenes to explore trade possibilities for Gamel right now with the intention of selling high. Perhaps there has been talk internally of signing a one year stop gap veteran ala Derek Lee to play first next year. Worst case scenario you could go with a good glove guy like Ishikawa or play Hart there with the Aoki addition. Again, definitely hoping that Gamel proves me completely wrong and busts out with a .330 BA and 30 bombs next year as our every day starting first baseman.
  13. For some reason I'm also a fan of Athlon's, and they have published it through last year at least. I am assuming that it will still be in print this year, as that and the media guide are kind of a rite of spring for me bringing in the baseball season.
  14. So were the Rangers. The Rangers were one stinkin strike away from the WS title. Twice I believe.
  15. I agree with this. Especially considering Gallardo has the longer track record with the team and started Opening Day last season. I'd think it would almost be a news story if he weren't the starter this season.
  16. This news surprised me a lot. I had assumed that the Dodgers were definitely out of the running for Prince without their ownership situation being fully resolved. It goes to show that the baseball talking heads definitely have to "create" storylines at times, by speculating about how in the mix Texas was when they reportedly weren't even close to Detroit's or LA's offer.
  17. totally agree, really kind of love it. Go Brewers, can't wait for spring training in a month.
  18. Those are some great prizes. I can't think of anything on that list that wouldn't be awesome to win. For some reason I hadn't heard of this before but it's definitely an incentive to buy something that you'd use and enjoy anyway.
  19. Lame for me equals ordering pizza at home with the S/O at 11 PM and not being awake enough to eat it when it arrived forty five minutes later. I think I'm getting old.
  20. If I were a hamster, I would also be highly intrigued by a copy of the "The Metaphysical Club" laying out for me to read.
  21. Sold.
  22. I am selling two Rose Bowl tickets, good location. Gate N, Tunnel 11, Row D. I'm trying to get rid of these sooner rather than later so PM me if interested. Thanks.
  23. The other option is that the team really doesn't have any plans for Gamel at 1B and are considering trading him. I am not quite sure what we can hope to get back in a trade, but it just seems like the team is not sold on Gamel at all.
  24. Wily Mo Pena can come off the board: http://seattletimes.nwsou...s/2016920657_base03.html
