  1. I hope Prince's new diet helps. Maybe he can open up an all Vegitarian restraunte as on off-shoot of Suppan's new franchise. I'd check it out. It has to taste better then what some of my Vegan friends eat.
  2. In hindsight the Bucks should have taken Chris Paul, but that was not even considered as a possibility. It was a choice between Bogut and Marvin Williams out of UNC. I still think the Bucks made the right choice. It wasn't a draft out of need, since nobody considered Chris Paul as a top two pick.
  3. Fielder has Scott Boras as an agent. There is no way he is going to make things easy for the Brewers. I think this is a pretty clear signal that the Brewers should buy out Fielder's arby years as soon as possible.
  4. If you didn't know ESPN is doing a bracket style challenge to find out which play America thinks is the greatest of all-time. I'm sure most traffic on this site watches Sports Center on a consitent basis. I was just wondering what you thought of Berman's "call" on the the Cal-Stanford band on the field play. Whoop and he pitches it backwards and whoop he runs left and whoop, he whoop, whoop, high pitched annoying whoop. Berman seriously made me dislike one of the best plays in the history of sports. Rather then enjoy the eventual trampling of the trombone player in the endzone I was relieved that the play was finally over. Does anybody else feel like voting for the Boise state statue of liberty play just because of Berman's butchering?
  5. My initial post added nothing important to the discussion and therefore I deleted it. I do not think wins are an accurate measure of a pitcher's "value" even if taken over an entire career. I think there are many better ways to analyze a pitcher's value. Maybe wins over a career can help predict a pitcher's value if it's assumed that a good pitcher will be recognized and go to high payroll team that can produce consistent run support.
  6. That's kind of crazy that your going back for journalism. I just graduated from the UW-Madison school of journalism in May 2007. It's uhhhh still like college. Bunch of guys, bunch of girls, other people. I'm driving forklift right now for a big cheese factory. I hope your degree does more for you then it did for me. My advice. Write articles for everything. That experience is what it's all about for journalism and college is the best place to get your works published.
  7. To Pence's credit he ran THROUGH the glass door and not just into it. I like how he tried to "shower" the glass off before going to the emergency room. He was definetly drunk. I wonder what his "friend" was doing while he was showering in a pool of his own blood. Sorry bout all the quotation marks in this post.
  8. I got my loser loser, late-night boozer e-mail at 9:40 pm. Looks like they sent out winning e-mails first. That might be good to know for when I have to register for playoff tickets. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. I think Catches and Pitchers report day is a lot like St. Patrick's day. It's not really a holiday, but it still feels good.
  10. Oh no Shrek is gone. I seriously wanted a bobblehead of Mench so I could paint it green.

  13. I thought Melvin's explanation of the Cameron signing was really interesting and probably deserves its own thread. I tend to disagree with Melvin and would have much rather seen them pick up another left-handed bat. I think Yost will be forced to use Gabe Gross a lot more now, which wouldn't be that bad if he was replacing Hall in the outfield, but he'll now be replacing Hart or Braun.
  14. Come on guys we all love the Griffey games, MVP 2005, and R.B.I. baseball, but nothing can compare with Dusty Diamond's All-Star softball. It's a lot how like Madden is good, but nothing will ever be better then Tecmo Super Bowl for the Nes with QB Eagles and the unstoppable Nose tackle. I think baseball gaming reached it's pinnicle when your playing a friend in Dusty Diamond's All-Star softball and he has to make a decision between the 4-hole hitting Fuji who sucks at defense or taking the best pitcher by far Flip. In my mind you gotta take Mikey first cause he is the all around best player, but Flip is definetly a top 5 pick. In the single player game you have to beat a team of super awesome girls named the amazons. The game has unique fields with most having a HR line that you can catch the ball over. (I like playing at the school House cause if you hit a HR, but break a window it's an out, I like small ball). The real fun comes drafting your team agains a friend cause everyone will have on player who is their guy. Check it out here.
  15. If runners are on first and second....... You could meet a girl, conceive kids, and see them off to college. Well I suppose by that time he may have already walked the bases loaded, if he only checks the runner once.
  16. On the Brewers I think I would have to go with Gallardo. Of all the current players A-rod would probably be the correct buisness decision. The HR chase is going to bring in major dollars. Of all the Brewers players of all-time. Gotta go with Robin Yount. Of all players all-time the easy answer would be Babe Ruth, so I'll have to take Satchel Paige.
  17. I think the position Caupuano is occupying on our team is well above average compared with other teams. How many teams have a former all-star occupying there 6th, 7th, or 8th spot in the rotation.
  18. One thing that worries me about Kendall is the large amount of playing time he has logged in the past. I can't remember the exact numbers, but this was brought up as a positive during the signing. This indicated that he was durable, but to me it means he's been worn down and used up by other teams the past few seasons.
  19. Does anybody know where Matt Kinney is now? I still need to get him to autograph a copy of Stephen King's "Nightmares and Dreamscapes." A 12 year old Mr. Kinney is actually a featured character in one of the stories in that book. If I recall correctly King writes about Kinney looking at a breast exam ad in a magazine with his little league teamates.
  20. As with any opening series or game played by a team I love and follow, I will probably overreact to everything. I'll over analyze every pitch and at-bat. However, I think taking one game in the series is fine as long as we make up for it later by taking 2 of 3 in a road series later. The recipe for success seems to be winning series at home and splitting on the road. As far as the road struggles I think it might be a slight product of having a young team un-use to the travel and lifestyle of being on a big league club. They don't understand the rythm and how they like to approach it. They have to worry about little tiny things just like when you travel to a new area. It is likely that the large road splits of the last few years were just an abberation, but it is odd.
  21. I think Cameron will have the biggest impact and probably the biggest positive impact. As previously mentioned there is a defensive fall out from his taking over in center field. I think the impact a relief pitcher has is limited since he won't pitch a high number of innings where as Mike Cameron will play a majority of the time.
  22. Very nice post JoeyHep, but I disaggree with you on the pulling of Braun in late innings point. Braun's fielding percentage was 89.5% whereas Counsells was a perfect 100%. Pulling a guy that screws up 1 out of ever 10 balls he fields seems like a smart thing to do when you have the lead. Especially since you can occasionally double switch and push back when you pitcher will bat. Bottom line Braun needs to improve defensively, and you are correct, Yost should not have to worry about taking our best hitter out of the lineup.
  23. First, I do not think fans hate Yost. I consider myself a fan and I like the man still. Other fans I have talked to who are not Super Brewer dorks (aka us BF.netters. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif) are mostly oblivious to this debate. Second, as far as the importance of batting order, it is slightly important, but not as much as people think. In similations stacking the order by OPS results in the most runs. If you stalked your order in the most mathematicaly smart way, Prince would be leading of and this would result in about 2 more wins every 5 seasons. If you stalked you lineup in the worst possible way (the pitcher leading off) this would result in 4-5 more losses compared with traditional and opitimal lineups. Yes, I aggree that Yost stuck with Estrada to long in the 5 spot. I had no problem with him batting there to start the year, but he did not preform. That is how Yost manages however. He sticks with guys. It has worked out sometimes, and othertimes it has not as with Estrada.
  24. If Brewer talk fueled crack addictions I bet the Brewers could afford to increase their payroll without raising parking costs.
