  1. Since it is a new computer...can't you just format the HD and start with a clean Windows install? You should be able to use the Windows Media Creation tool to do this. If the computer is having internet connectivity issues you can always create a USB on a different computer.
  2. I would say that turning down the job would definitely not give you a negative reputation. In my opinion it actually could strengthens you as a future candidate. We really value people that are dedicated, loyal, and will do whatever it takes to get the job done. It is what we try to gauge when we interview...which is definitely not easy to do. If I get a resume that I can see you have worked 3 different jobs in the last 5-10 years, I probably wouldn't even give a first interview. My first impression is that this is someone not worth hiring. By time they would get trained and understand how we operate, they would already be looking for another job and then we would have to go through the whole process again. Training employees is very expensive and negatively affects productivity. Here is something that happened to us 2 years ago. We hired a great engineer that was with us for 2.5 years. He got frustrated with the type of projects we were doing and he ended up taking a different job for more money and also did projects that interested him more. After 6 months, he got burned out because it was not what he signed up for. He was working occasional 70 hour weeks and he ended up doing more babysitting than engineering. He sent me a text asking to see if I could pull some strings with the owners to get his old job back. We already filled his old role and the owners weren't very keen on bringing him back, so we had to turn him down. I believe shortly after he sent that text to me, that firm got bought out and the situation got worse. The last I heard from him, he quit that job and now works for the firm he was at before we hired him. This story is why I said the grass isn't always greener. However, sometimes it can be. I would highly recommend to you to make a list of all of the positives and negatives and make the decision for yourself. If you don't see yourself at either place long-term, it might be best to stay at what you are doing now and wait for a better offer. Maybe your next job will actually be your dream of being your own boss.
  3. The grass isn't always greener... especially if you like the people you work with. Does it seem to you that the culture and the hours required to work are similar to what you have now? Obviously a pay raise is nice, but if you have to work more and will be more stressed and you can't have time to spend the extra money you are bringing in, what's the point? As someone that interviews engineers for a small engineering firm, I always question people that have bounced from job to job. Maybe I'm just old school and value loyalty and longevity. Unless it absolutely feels like the right decision to you, it sounds like you have a lot of negatives about the new job.
  4. I could see taking #2 if the other end one is an ADA one. Otherwise I completely agree. So yesterday I played in a golf 4 man scramble for work. It was 2 people from our company and we got paired with another 2 some. After the 2nd hole they brought out their speaker and started playing country. They asked if it was alright to play music 5 minutes after it started. I couldn't say no...as much as I wanted to... especially since I can't stand country music. Talk about ruining a sport I enjoy playing.
  5. Thanks for looking into it. I think 1 thread is a good compromise and will keep Brewerfan from looking like Wall Drug
  6. After moving into an interior office from the cubes, my phone battery now drains much quicker looking for LTE service. I have to move to 3g to save my phone from melting itself.
  7. The off topic forum turning into Lambeau Leap main forum. I get it that this place gets more traffic than that website but there are now 4 Packer threads. The bucks thread does just fine with 1. Is it possible to make another Packer subforum outside the off topic blanket if there is more than 1 thread? I also get it that the Packers are a big deal in this state. People at work talk about how good someone looks in a preseason game and completely blow off the Brewers in a playoff chase. I am also one that doesn't really enjoy watching football and prefers to follow hockey in the winter.
  8. I'm trying to upgrade a computer from Windows 8.1 to 10 with the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft. I know it is past the "free" window to do this upgrade, but I've read you can still do it with this tool. I tried it and it seemed to be working until it got to 76%, where it just freezes. The computer is still responding, it just wheels with no end in site. I had it run for nearly 24 hours and it just stayed at the same percentage. The main PC I use already has the Windows 10 Anniversary update on it, but the drivers are not compatible with the creators update. I'm starting to think that the computer I'm trying to update is also not compatible with the creators update. Is the Media Creation tool the creators update of Windows 10? I can't seem to find anything on it. If so, is there a place I can still get a version of it with the Anniversary Update. I read that I could make a recovery USB from my computer, but that is a clean install and I'm not sure it will actually work with updating from 8.1. I also don't want to do a clean install.
  9. I get hyper focused when hitting shots...and music is a distraction or maybe a built in excuse depending on the day. I'm a paying customer. I shouldn't have to listen that music. If it were a Brewer game and the people in front of me were playing music, I think I'd have a right to complain. If it were a public place, I would just go somewhere else. Although I'm a millennial, I'm also old school where I like to carry my clubs and be outside walking. It bugs me that the group playing music is usually my age but has to be in a cart. They also tend to park their carts nowhere near the next hole and drive them 5 yards away from the green. All I want is a little etiquette.
  10. People that listen to music on the golf course so loud that you can hear it 100 yards away.
  11. Have you ever tried an ad blocker? They do such a good job making websites readable and even load faster. I even found the mobile version of Firefox supports the adblock add-on. Now websites are trying to be smart and guilt you for using an ad blocker by putting a message under the ad that got blocked. I'm just not sure how well it will work with your audio problem. Maybe there is a mute all button you can click. Now for what is bugging me...I recently saw someone on this forum using xBA and other Statcast statistics. I figured out that one source was Baseball Savant. They make it so easy to search a player...but you can't actually find all of the detailed stats I'm interested in. The only way I found to get them was to do an advanced search which is difficult to do...especially on a phone. Sent from my Moto G Play using Tapatalk
  12. Haha. I totally fell asleep while reading this thread last night. I'd delete it but it is to awesome not to. I wonder why I typed an F. Sent from my XT1093 using Tapatalk

  14. I've been on 10 since August and the issues I've had have been fixed. Here's another crazy option to think about if you are savvy enough and happen to have a spare HD laying around...clone your HD and upgrade the clone to 10. Then you can upgrade to 10 whenever you want. Sent from my XT1093 using Tapatalk
  15. I know it will never happen because of valuable commercial time, but I would be a fan of completely eliminating warmup tosses if more than one pitching change happens in the same half inning. It's not like they haven't had a chance to throw in the bullpen. Doing so would essentially mimic the hockey on-the-fly line change. If you are unaware, even if a goalie change happens, they still have to come in cold with no warmups at all.
  16. Yup...though it does help your class rank which universities do also look at. I'm guessing my class rank of 20 out of 420 got me into the UW because my 23 ACT score was low. I also did good in the engineering program and also earned my master's at the UW too...so I think they should get rid of the test because it is a terrible predictor. College is all about learning how to study.
  17. I'm a fan of One Drive for the volume of pictures I have. They gave me 30 gigs for free. I'm not sure if they offer this to Mac users...but I'm guessing there has to be a way. http://www.pcworld.com/article/2686566/how-to-double-your-free-onedrive-storage-to-30gb.html
  18. Is your WiFi/Bluetooth/GPS on? Also I've noticed that I need to either turn off mobile data or at least turn off 4g data if I'm in a spot outside of US Cell's network or with poor coverage. Otherwise your phone will try to connect to something that doesn't exist. It will also always try to connect to a home network. I've had success with "smart WiFi toggler" in the past but it quit working in May and I haven't tried it since. If you are on Android, there is a battery tracker that keeps track of pesky apps that run in the background. I have never used ios...but im guessing that exists on that platform too. I also think the best practice is uninstall any app that is rarely used. A side note here...I refuse to use the Facebook app (among others) because of all of the background permissions I don't think it needs...If I really need to use it, the mobile website works just fine. Do these freak anybody else out?
  19. Being a structural engineer that works in telecom I can say this is only partially true. Our main clients are Verizon, US Cellular and Cellcom. We used to do more work with AT&T...but since they just merged with a satellite company, their network upgrades have dried up. T-Mobile and Sprint are really cheap on the engineering side of things...which is why I wouldn't use them but I have no experience with them as a carrier. US Cellular is great in SOUTHERN Wisconsin. North of Green Bay/Marshfield is outside of their market and you won't get 4g or good battery life because you will be roaming. If you live above this line, then Cellcom has very good 4g coverage. Verizon is literally everywhere in the state and should have excellent coverage. I know this because I've worked on a lot of their sites in the middle of nowhere. Right now US Cell is aggressively updating while Verizon is very aggressively upgrading their sites. Verizon is changing their loading on sites faster than it can be installed. They can't keep up. I know Cellcom is adding 4g to sites now...but they don't run structurals on their towers so I don't have a pulse on that. Bottom line is Verizon is probably the best...but they are expensive. I personally have US Cell because their coverage is top notch in southern WI and I rarely go north.
  20. I'm 6'1, 195 lbs and share your desire to walk the course and carry my clubs. My whole family is actually that way. There are some courses that the cart is included with the green fee and I will still walk it, especially when it is 90 degree or carts on path. I've also noticed I find a lot more balls when I walk the course. I've always preferred FootJoy shoes. I usually spend $75 - $115 on shoes and they last for 3-5 years before they start falling apart and no longer are waterproof enough for morning dew or if it does happen to rain a little bit. During the summer, I probably go golfing at least once a week, so you can figure out the number of uses from there. My next pair will be a FootJoy. My brother is 6'1" and 215 and he just switched over to Puma. I'm pretty sure he is happy with his selection. If you really want an off the wall recommendation, my dad (6'2" 220 lbs) just switched from FootJoy to Allen Edmonds. He is in love with their work shoes in terms of comfort and their durability. When he saw they made golf shoes, he immediately bought a pair last year. Those I want to say were more like $275 but you can get them re-crafted rather than buying a new pair when they start to wear.
  21. I'm excited to see him pitch and definitely prefer him over anyone else. Watching new guys (WITH upside) come up is a reason for me to start watching games again. Right now it's more fun just reading about the team on here than actually watching the product on the field. Seeing the ground ball numbers, I'm a little at ease. But then again, what do we have to lose?
  22. Has his season in AAA really been sustainable? I knew he has been pitching well, but it has been a tune to a FIP of 4.48, an extremely low BABIP of .240, and has walked a ton of batters so far this year. It's 5 per 9 innings...almost as much as how many he has been striking out per nine. Do Fangraph minor numbers really mean something? Am I making too much of a small sample? I haven't seen him pitch, so I haven't really seen the whole picture. I'm still excited to see him pitch. I'm just not expecting him to be like a Verlander.
  23. I think Buffalo Wild Wings rigged that game tonight.
  24. I've had this issue before with an old XP computer. I popped the device manager open and removed the installed sound card. Reboot the computer and the computer should recognize the "new" sound card and automatically install the drivers. Problem solved. If they started messing with the bios when they removed the malware, it very well could have caused the drivers on your sound card to stop working properly...not entirely sure without knowing the specifics.
  25. I've had Charter for a long time. We have our own modem and router. The key is to have the MAC address of the new modem in their system. I know when our modem died, I had to call to get the new one in the system. I know this isn't always the case. One nice thing about having them separate is that when one goes...the other one will still be fine. But I guess since they need to work in unison, that doesn't do a whole lot of good. It might be cheaper to replace one than both of them. I've also had much better success with routers lasting longer than modems. My parents have and brother have had the same luck too.
