Does Dayton Moore still run the Royals? If so, that makes perfect sense. I'm not sure why anyone would trade for someone with Weeks' numbers right now. Oh PS he makes $11 million dollars to be average-at-best. Bonus.
Nobody wants Rickie Weeks. We don't want him and neither does anybody else - especially at that salary. There's been no rumor of anyone being interested because nobody is. We're stuck with him.
Definitely. I thought we would definitely be able to get something of value for Aoki/reliever or Axford/Gonzalez. Gallardo you should just keep anyway. If people think he's a 4/5 then he's worth more to us as a possible bounceback pitcher next year. Starting pitching is what we desperately need, so I wouldn't move Lohse unless it was a ridiculous return. Doug doesn't ever tell us anything before it happens, though. So I still fully expect to see 2 reliever trades by tomorrow... I just don't know if we'll get much of anything for either of them.
I don't think anyone would trade Gomez straight up for one prospect - no matter how promising. If you would, you'd be a bad GM in my opinion. Gomez is proven at this point. No matter how many people want to project Profar as a star - it is very possible that he will never be a star in the major leagues. You can say that about any prospect... they just don't pan out a lot of the time... and that's why you should get at least 2 upper prospects when trading a proven star like Gomez.
That is hilarious that you think Axford has been bad all season but you think Betancourt has been somewhat valuable. You must've only watched the month of April this season.
I was referring to the incident where he refused to play left field for the Nationals. He literally wouldn't take the field. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/06/20/AR2005062000884.html Ridiculous and unacceptable.
What a moronic contract that was. Terrible defender with a bad attitude, inconsistent offensive production - but paid like a superstar player. At least the Cubs are still paying him most of his contract to play for another team. That makes me kinda happy.
spot-on. I bought a special baseball at the Hall of Fame last year and I'd like to get it signed by my favorite childhood player eventually. Not sure this would've been the event to make that happen, though.
I don't think one bad outing is going to hurt Gonzalez's trade value... but yeah it's pretty annoying how everything has gone sour for us Brewer fans this year.
Yeah, I hope they keep the price high and don't budge. I think it'd be great to hang onto him for next year, but if they could get a haul I would understand dealing him.
I would guess Axford, Gonzalez and maybe Henderson. They may want Gorzellany for next year. Great start though... Hope we can package some guys for a starting pitcher.
What's also promising is that when Mike Fiers shut the league down for an extended period of time - it came out of nowhere as he was not touted as a guy with great stuff. Peralta has been projected to be a very good pitcher his entire career, and that's making me feel a little better about believing in him in 2014.
I said this in another thread, but our best bet is to find a team that has another need we can supply, like Aoki or Gallardo. I feel like Aoki and KRod could get us a really nice return, while just a reliever probably won't do much.
