  1. Yeah, what's up with that? They're one of the best teams in baseball... Why isn't anyone there right now?
  2. Not surprising. I made a comment last night about how maddening it is watching the Brewers on ESPN, because they don't seem to do ANY homework at all regarding knowing anything about Brewers players not named Ryan Braun. They love to gush about the Cardinals, though.
  3. Watching a Brewer game on ESPN is maddening.
  4. The Brewers have to be the worst day-game team of all-time, right?
  5. I feel like I was the last person still watching all the games and even I have had a hard time caring over the past week or two.
  6. Pogo is right, Maldonado is such a terrible hitter that he offsets anything Lucroy does at 1st base. If anything it weakens our offense.
  7. I'm worried I missed his call. I need to ask someone that got called what area code it was from.
  8. I think it's pretty ballsy to do this and I do appreciate the gesture. If I was his PR man I'd see if there was a way for him to play next year for free, giving his salary to Milwaukee area charities. I know that's quite a bit of money, but if he came back in 2014 and put up solid numbers while giving his entire salary to local charities... I feel like it'd be really hard not to forgive the guy.
  9. The front office has to be extremely concerned about losing season ticket holders this offseason, right? Do you think there will be some type of promotion/discount to keep as many of us as they can? I'm fairly confident the prices won't go up, I can tell you that. Are you considering downgrading or discontinuing your ticket package? Just curious what others' thoughts are going into next season from a ticket-holder perspective.
  10. I don't care what the projections are... it seems like you have to let Thornburg finish the season starting every five days due to the success he's had. It'd be foolish not to let him keep going.
  11. It's going to be a rotation with almost as many questions marks as this year given an aging Lohse, a young Peralta, and not knowing which Gallardo you're going to get. If we can somehow acquire a starter with a 4ish or lower ERA through trade or free agency, that sure would make me feel better about it.
  12. I obviously WANT to believe that he first used something in 2011... and something that I'm thinking about that's helping me justify that belief is his incredibly good 2012 season when he was probably being tested constantly as MLB was gunning for him at that point. I'm wondering what those of you that think he's been using all along have to say about that. Do you think he was covering up his use during 2012? Seems pretty risky, but I guess anything's possible.
  13. Who are you talking about? You don't say. Heh. Guess.
  14. From the eyeball test, his approach is awful and he has a very lackadaisical way about him, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. That said, if he could be as good as Prince Fielder was at 1B for us defensively, he would probably be a good platoon option for sure. It's too bad Hunter Morris isn't doing better in AAA this year so that this discussion didn't matter. The power is there (22 homers) but the OPS just isn't where it should be.
  15. Aoki would be great for depth even if you weren't sold on him as your starting RF in 2014 - so at that price it's a no-brainer. That said, I'd rather see what Gindl and Davis can do the rest of the year and I'd consider that platoon going into next year with Aoki as the 4th OF. I love Schafer for his great D and speed, but his .600 OPS so far is pretty bad... not sure if he'll ever be more than a back-up but that may be a premature analysis.
  16. So.... it'd be nice to hear from Ryan Braun soon...
  17. My wife and I went to Baltimore just to take a tour of Camden and eat some crabcakes and it was worth it for those two things alone. Got a private tour of the entire park, got to walk around on the field, go in the dugout, etc. It was great and just $15 or so if I recall. It's got some pretty weird areas downtown that we weren't super comfortable in. Luckily I hadn't yet seen The Wire by the time I visited.
  18. I don't think they'll deal either one, actually. But I don't like the sound of relying on an aging Lohse, a Gallardo that looks like a 4/5 starter this year, and an inconsistent and young Peralta along with a bunch of other question marks at the 4th and 5th spot in the rotation. Adding a guy that we could count on for a 3.5ish ERA (like Gallardo was up until this year) would make me feel a lot better. But like I said, where's he gonna come from?
  19. The scary thing about next year is that we are probably going to end up relying on more young pitching next year... it's just that it'll be different players than we were relying on this year. Instead of relying on Estrada, Fiers, and Rogers we'll be relying on Hellwig, Thornburg, and Nelson. It didn't work out this year, it's likely not to work out again next year. I'd feel better if they brought in a top tier starter and only left the 5 pitcher open to the young guys... but I don't know how they're going to acquire said starter.
  20. I think you underestimate the short memory of the general public, Briggs. If Braun comes back with a strong start in April, most people are just going to forgive and forget about what happened. Some people may even cheer for him on Opening Day. People love a comeback story and they have a real short attention span. He may be on the DL more than he was before, but Milwaukee is going to forgive him if he continues to produce. That may be hard for some people to see right now because it's a ways away and emotions are still fresh and running high, but I really do believe it's going to happen.
  21. I haven't watched wrestling in over ten years... but I am intrigued by the Mick Foley show at Miramar in Milwaukee tomorrow night. Might have to check that out.
  22. I hate Sunday games because very often it's Craig filling-in, and he is just not an acceptable replacement.
  23. Brewerfan.net's biggest BA fan over here. I think he is the best. Great commentary, great level of quirkiness/humor, great chemistry with BS and makes BS better. Bill used to bug me a bit but I like him a lot now, too. I am going to be really depressed when BA leaves the Milwaukee market. I hope they find a way to keep him, but it seems very unlikely. He seems to be recognized as one of the better play-by-play guys out there today, as TBS picks him to do their playoff games each year.
  24. Fun crowd despite the incredibly boring game. The only cool thing that happened was the Krush Davis catch. Everyone was feelin nice from their $10 of free beer.
