  1. on a more positive note... Carlos Gomez sure is good at Centerfieldin'
  2. This team has way too much talent to not try and be competative in the next couple years... but is it possible for them to acquire 2-3 quality starting pitchers that quickly without making huge holes in their lineup?
  3. Whatever way is easier to acquire a decent starting rotation is the way to go. I don't know which way that is, but I know that this team is extremely talented for being so bad. The rotation has just been that awful that we are playing from behind all the time and that is probably causing our offense to underperform a bit as a whole. I look at the bullpen and the lineup and I really like everything we have going on except for our current 1B situation. Rickie Weeks struggling is not what is keeping this team from being successful... the rotation is the only real problem, but it's a big one. Other than Lohse, it's been atrocious.
  4. How is Brandon Crawford #2 at short right now? He's a nice enough player but I'm kinda shocked by that.
  5. I don't think Gomez is going to make it and that really sucks. Also, I think it's really stupid that they allow multiple votes. Why not just let everyone vote once? I think it's really dumb that you can vote 20x per email account or whatever the rule is. Most people don't want to put that kind of time into it.
  6. I really don't understand why Gennett's service clock has been started. If it's to make sure Weeks option doesn't kick in... can't we just use Bianchi to make sure that doesn't happen? Although Weeks has been bad, I just feel like it's very likely Weeks would finish with better numbers than Gennett is able to produce this year.
  7. Glad I got to hear the story finally, Nottso - you referenced it in another NOLA-related post awhile back, I remember. I've never lived there, but I just got married in New Orleans a few weeks ago - got engaged there one year ago - and have visited 5-6 times at this point. We plan to go every year for the rest of our lives - it's a wonderful place and truly unique as others have said. It is not perfect, but it's probably my favorite city in the world. It has a vitality to it like no other place. And the food... man.
  8. when is Hart returning? Should be real soon, right?
  9. I don't get this move. Given our situation so far this season, I don't think Gennett is going to make enough of a difference playing instead of Bianchi for this move to be justified right now.
  10. This is probably a good place to ask about this... I'm under the impression that Lollapalooza 3 day passes sold out before they even announced the acts... is this true? And if so... how is that possible? Would tens of thousands of people really pay $100+ for concert tickets without even knowing who will be playing? That blows my mind.
  11. Bumping this thread to plug a free show at SPiN (the ping pong bar) tomorrow night at 9 PM. First band plays 9:30-10, we play 10:15-11. Free show, but the ping pong will cost you if you want to reserve a table. SPiN is at 233 E. Chicago St. in the Third Ward.
  12. What's frustrating is that with just an average pitching staff I feel like the team would be WAY better. I realize it's a bit rough with Betancourt and Gonzalez in there at 1B, but other than that I love our lineup and our bullpen. It's these horrible short starts that are killing us by having us play from behind ALL THE TIME
  13. I could easily see Hart coming back and not performing. But even if he does, the starting pitching is why this team is struggling. The starting pitching is pitiful.
  14. If it's a hamstring pull it could be just a few days. But it's easy to re-injure it if you come back too early.
  15. I was gonna say... Stache you must not be watching the game. He pulled (I hope) his hamstring with 1 out to go and then KRod got the last out on 2 pitches.
  16. Yep, I don't believe he's hurt.
  17. Alex & Ika's is excellent - definitely one of the better restaurants in that area.
  18. It's been brought up already in this thread... but what are they really going to do? Our starting pitching is awful and we don't have many options - and the options we have are probably not too much better.
  19. Time to give some other guys some starts... Peralta and Burgos aren't ready and they're really hurting this team so far.
  20. The bullpen has been pretty good most of the year. It's going to become a problem if most of our starters continue their 4 or 5 inning starts, though. Sure was great to see a win tonight. I hope we can start to turn this thing around.
  21. Wow you must have had a really good time there! I liked it so much I stayed 5.5 years!
  22. Thanks! I'm looking forward to my first Har Mar experience.
  23. I too am sick of seeing Axford blow saves. The amount of homeruns he gives up seems incredible to me. Must be the fact that he throws so hard?
