  1. Yeah, this is insane. I don't think it was really necessary but I won't complain until I see who was traded away.
  2. Well, we have a long 2nd half to see if we're going to make it or not, but if we do... at least we know we get to start at home in the World Series. Extra important for a terrible road team like the Brewers. It's too bad the chances of us locking up home field advantage throughout the playoffs are very slim. Miracles CAN happen, though.
  3. I don't think he's turned a corner on being injured all the time. I would prefer to go with Barmes as well. Furcal and Hardy scare me. They're no good to us if they end up barely playing due to injuries.
  4. We are not going to win today, but I would love to be wrong. I'll still be okay with losing today and taking 2 out of 3 from the Twins. Things should improve after this stretch.
  5. Betancourt is currently 5th in the all-star voting at shortstop. How could this have possibly happened? If I wasn't so lazy and the voting system wasn't so stupid (Being able to vote 25 times and going back in over and over again is just dumb to me), I would go and vote for someone other than Betancourt just so he doesn't start to think he isn't terrible.
  6. I'll give him a C- Count me in with the people that don't think a manager makes a huge difference on a team. The players seem to like playing for him and the shifts have worked out more than they've hurt us, so I'll give him that. I have plenty of things I don't like: - Gomez should've been taken out of the 2 spot much sooner. - McGehee should've been taken out of the 5 spot sooner (Hart in the 5 spot). Hopefully McGehee is breaking out of that slump right now, though. - His overuse of Kameron Loe, especially in key situations and against any left-handed hitter. - His underuse of everyone in the bullpen except Kameron Loe - Starting Betancourt almost every day despite having both Counsell and Wilson on the roster And finally I will admit that Kotsay is a better hitter than I expected, but I still think relative to the rest of the bench he is getting too much playing time, and I don't really want him playing CF anywhere - especially in San Diego or another cavernous ballpark.
  7. Bad pitching, defense, and baserunning. I thought this was going to be the series where we tacked on 2-3 wins BEFORE the slump. Now I'm thinking we're already in the slump.
  8. Yeah, I really expected at least 2 wins in this series before we had to face the AL East.
  9. Greinke definitely isn't locating, but you're going to have a lot of balls up in the zone when your catcher establishes very early in the game that he can't block a breaking pitch. The first one was indisputably Kottares' fault, and I think the second one was too.
  10. I have two tickets for this game that I can't use due to my love of Hall & Oates (they're at Summerfest that night). They're section 127, Row 23. I would like $15 for the pair, which is below face value. Can meet downtown or near the east side or we can do the exchange by mail if I get a buyer fast enough. Please email me at thesaltshakersband@yahoo.com if interested, thanks!
  11. The prince bomb might've been my favorite moment in Miller Park ever. I was embarrassed by the way some drunken idiot Brewer fans treated some of the Cards fans after the game, though. I may hate the Cardinals, but their fans once again exhibited total class (sorry, had to say it) on multiple occasions today. We're not all sore winners and drunken baffoons. Hopefully they realize that.
  12. Yep, I feel stupid but thanks for the info. I've been on this earth 30 years and never noticed that I wasn't paying sales tax at the supermarket.
  13. This question is probably going to end with me feeling really stupid, but I'm going to ask it anyway. Has something changed recently regarding Wisconsin state sales tax? I swear I've gone to the grocery store a couple times recently and just now noticed that I wasn't charged sales tax at all. It even said "WI sales tax 0%" on my receipt today. What the H is going on?
  14. Axford looks pretty awful lately. He can't skate by on his heater forever. I hope he gets that breaking pitch back fast.
  15. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poltergeist
  16. I gave him a 6. I think he's pretty good at everything except throwing out runners this year. I remember him being better last year, but that's just a memory - don't know if it's actually true or not
  17. I would've been really happy taking 2 out of 3 in this series... the sweep is just icing on the cake. Picked up some Sec 108 tix for Friday night's game, I hope Miller Park is electric for Marcum v. Lincecum. Big big win, hope we can keep this thing going as long as possible! Great job by Greinke today. Wish I could've seen the homer on TV.
  18. I like it too. If she's going to be stupid enough to brag about her greed by posting photos of her hoarding, she deserves the embarrassment she's receiving today. I don't feel bad for her at all.
  19. Agreed, it's way too early to even talk about the Greinke deal at this point. Marcum has been great, of course.
  20. I was at the game. Ludwick was the one being harassed in the outfield. He was a Cardinal, and therefore we hate him regardless of his current affiliation, I guess.
  21. At least once or twice a year I have to "take a break" from the Brewers. I fear I may have to take it earlier than usual this year. Also, is anyone listening to this broadcast on WTMJ? If so, what is that startling noise that keeps occurring during the broadcast?
  22. I haven't seen enough of him this year yet to judge - but Hart stopped waiving at that low and away pitch last year... which contributed a lot to his success.
  23. one sold, one still available.
