  1. ice cream eating I'm going to New Orleans in a few weeks and I'll be taking the Tchoupitoulas Challenge. I don't think it'll be a problem. I've seen harder looking ice cream challenges - like that kitchen sink one on Man v. Food.
  2. I think if anyone really thought Jeffress was going to stick as a starter, they wouldn't have included both him and Odorizzi in the trade. Very unlikely he leaves the bullpen, I think.
  3. I would think if we were willing to cough up 1-2 million and tell him he's our first go-to when a starter goes down - we could sign Capuano. Maybe not though. I would love to have him and Parra in the pen to pitch long relief or spot-start. Or to be the #5 and put Narveson in the pen.
  4. I would agree with that. He definitely lost any signs of power that he showed in the early minor leagues. Hopefully that will come back.
  5. I decided to start this discussion after posting in the Greinke thread. I think Lucroy was touted as a good hitting catcher that needed to improve defensively. I think what we got last year was a pretty decent defensive catcher that didn't hit at the level that he's able to. Being 24 and all of a sudden being the starting catcher of a major league team is probably difficult to adjust to. What do you guys expect out of Lucroy this coming year? Will he improve offensively and/or defensively? I really wouldn't be surprised to see a solid year out of him. I think he showed in the minors that he can hit... he just needs to learn to take more walks and get on base more. I was pleasantly surprised by his defense by years end.
  6. I don't think we're as weak up the middle defensively as one of the guys said. Gomez is not mediocre, he is fantastic at defense. I also have a lot of faith in Lucroy putting in a solid year - defensively AND maybe even offensively. Lucroy was touted as a great hitter and a weak defender when he came up and I think he was a better defender than expected and a lesser hitter than expected... probably because he was so focused on getting the defense up to par.
  7. More of a schedule question.... but I paid for my renewal Monday but haven't picked my games yet. We're doing that this week. I see a bunch of "All-Fan Giveaway" dates denoted on the schedule already (4/24, 5/22, 6/12, etc)... are these the bobblehead games? Or could they be another type of giveaway? I kinda want to make sure I attend some bobblehead games, but I don't want to wait til February to pick my games.
  8. I wasn't going to renew my 20 pack this year. Just did it this morning. April can't come fast enough.
  9. Just brought this up in the other thread... but... Marco Scutaro and Mike Cameron? I could be wrong, but they're both bench players for the Red Sox now. Maybe that would be a possible deal? I guess I don't know what the Red Sox would want, though. The prospects are becoming thin.
  10. Marco Scutaro and Mike Cameron, please. That'll help fix the holes that the Greinke trade made.
  11. I thought the same thing after hearing about the Greinke trade. I'd love to have him back, but not if we have to pay all of his salary. I don't think there's room to take on much more money now, but he sure would be nice to have in CF - even though he's a little older than when he left. He's also a little more injury prone because of that, I'm sure. The Red Sox find him expendable now, so maybe we could get him for very little. If that's the case, go for it. Why stop now?
  12. How long do we have Gamel before we have to bring him up or lose him? I don't know how that works, but I know he's a "not that young" prospect at this point.
  13. I understand the speed at the top thing, but you can't bat Escobar lead-off after the year he had. He needs to stay at the bottom of the order for now, I think. I realize Weeks would be great in the 2 or 3 spot, but I can't think of anyone else to lead off.
  14. This has to be one of my favorite things I've ever read on BF.net. I agree. Best thing I've ever read here.
  15. I had a friend's surprise 30th birthday party in Appleton last night - and I live in Milwaukee. Great timing, right? Anyway, we decided to leave really early and hit up Legend Larry's in Sheboygan for some chicken wings that we heard were really great and won all these awards (a couple of us are wing fanatics and wanted to see what the fuss was all about), so we left at 12:30 PM Saturday and went to Sheboygan. Didn't hit any snow at all not only to Sheboygan but almost the entire length of our drive up to Appleton. I would say we hit some snow 15-20 minutes before getting to Appleton, but it was not much. The drive home was another story. Our friends thought we were insane for trying to drive home - and it turns out they were right. Worst blizzard I've ever driven in. We left Appleton at 9 PM and got home to the east side at midnight'ish. I would say the average speed home was 30-35 mph. The worst parts were right out of Appleton where there were periods where I couldn't see anything at all... so I basically had to almost-stop and wait for my view to improve. Luckily, there were very few people as idiotic as us trying to go South on 43 last night - so I felt relatively safe. The snow didn't turn to rain until around Menomonee Falls and then my car looked like the Delorean after traveling in time. It was kind of fun in a weird way because of how challenging it was, but we made it so I can't complain too much. I will not be driving at all today.
  16. Really? Good god. If Brett Lawrie is truly worth Shaun Marcum Zack Greinke must be Bob Gibson. He's really good but he's not THAT good.I guess we'll never really know for sure - but I don't think there's any way we'd have to give up that much. That's ridiculous. Two of our better prospects and a not-so-great one would get this trade done, I think.
  17. I don't meant to be a jerk, and I don't mean to single you out because I see this type of comment all the time, but they really drives me crazy. Why does it matter how he gets results if he actually, you know, gets results! If a guy threw underhand and was a 3 WAR pitcher, I'd be glad to have him. I agree. If he pitches like a #2, he's a #2. Not that it matters all that much what we classify him as.
  18. Yeah, if Beachy isn't a for-sure starter, might as well hang onto Cain. Giving up a possible starting CF for a reliever doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
  19. Regarding the Lawrie radio interview... it's funny that he claims those Miller Park Drunk photos are from Halloween a "long time ago", but there is a February 2010 timestamp right on the photo itself. Granted, someone COULD have added that timestamp with photoshop after the fact... but why would they?
  20. I agree. This is an awful idea. I was so excited after hearing about Marcum, but this is going to negate that. Total waste of $10 mil a year. And that three year deal will feel like six. Ugh, I just pray the Twins or someone else is willing to outbid them. It's hard to believe Melvin has learned nothing from past free agent pitcher signings.
  21. I'll eat my shoe if this trade happens. Don't worry about it. Someone made it up and they decided to run with it for some reason. It's irritating that not one of those "baseball guys" realized that this trade doesn't make a single bit of sense.
  22. I just saw that on MLB Network, too. They don't follow the Brewers and don't realize we have a closer. There is no point in downgrading our 1B and taking on a closer that is probably getting expensive. I don't know Broxton's contract sitch but I know he's making more than Axford at this point. This trade makes no sense for the Crew.
  23. Agreed. Garza or Billingsley would be a dream come true. Since Lawrie is gone, there aren't a lot of guys I wouldn't trade to make that happen. Odorizzi is the only one that comes to mind. 1 Gallardo 2 Marcum 3 Billingsley or Garza 4 Wolf 5 Narveson And have Capuano, Rogers, and Parra as depth/spot starters. And we may even still have Fielder after acquiring this last starter. It's a dream, I know, but I'm going to keep dreaming for now.
  24. I still think they're going to trade for someone or sign a free agent. I hope that person is a better pitcher than Randy Wolf, but they probably won't be. I also think they'll try to sign Capuano for insurance, but he may go elsewhere if that other team gives him a definite rotation spot.
  25. If you average his last 3 full seasons together, his ERA is 3.72. In the AL East. That's excellent.
