  1. I don't see how Brewers management can expect Weeks to play a full healthy season... therefore you definitely risk offering Lopez arbitration.
  2. Gallardo isn't ever going to even be brought up because it's a ridiculous idea in the first place. 4 or 5 cost-controlled years of Gallardo are worth a lot more than one year of Halladay even if Halladay is much better pitcher (which he is). Nobody would trade Gallardo for Halladay straight up, let alone add Brewers players to the deal. It's ridiculous. Also, anyone else a little upset that we don't have a shortstop anymore to put in a trade for Halladay? I am. I think Hardy, Parra, and a decent prospect would've gotten it done. Too bad.
  3. I had pear pie and my band drives to Minneapolis tomorrow for a show this Saturday. It was a good T-day. Hope everyone had a great one as well.
  4. The Braves don't want Hart - that's the problem. They feel he's a more expensive Jeff Francour... which he kinda is.
  5. Right, I don't see the Bucholz scenario happening either. To me, it's obvious that 3/4/5 years of a young pitcher that will probably have a 3.5ish ERA is worth more than 1 year of 2.5 or 3.0 ERA pitching. I think 3 out of 4 of Hart/Rivas/Parra/Salome would get it done.
  6. I agree with the Braves evaluation of Hart, but I was hoping they felt differently and wanted to give us Vasquez for Hart and prospects. I'll hold onto the dream of McGehee and a prospect or two (not named Gamel/Lucroy/Lawrie) for now.
  7. There is no reason teams would give up younger pitching for Halladay. Why would you trade Billingsley or Kershaw and prospects for Halladay? That doesn't make any sense to me. I don't think the Dodgers ever would. Same for Gallardo, the fact that you have him for minimal money over many years makes that difference in ERA not worth it. I agree with the people that are saying people are overvaluing what the Jays will get back. I think Parra, Salome, and one other good prospect gets it done. I think it could be done without giving up Gamel.
  8. I saw ANOTHER post today on MLBTraderumors.com talking about the Twins OR Brewers and Washburn. I really really really hope we don't pick him up, and I'm really really really worried that we will.
  9. If we could get 1 year of Halliday for McGehee or Gamel, any 1 of our pitching prospects, and Parra... I would be willing to do that in a second. To me, for just one year of him, that seems like a fair price. I also wouldn't want to extend him more than 3 additional years. Pitchers are scary.
  10. I agree with Ennder, I think Gamel looked pretty good defensively during his short stay in Milwaukee, and I wouldn't give up on him at 3B unless he hit really well in AAA this year and Hart was struggling mightily.
  11. I don't think you could make ALL of these moves and not be over-budget, but I think we could make one of these two trades: 1. I would do what it takes to get Vazquez from the Braves. I don't think Corey Hart has much trade value, but a lot of people here seem to, so maybe Hart + a prospect or two not named Gamel? If we give up Gamel I would want a pitcher that is going to be around past 2010, and Vazquez has one year left on his deal. OR 2. I would also try and get Arroyo from the Reds. I read they are trying to free up some money so I bet it wouldn't take as much as you think to get him if you're willing to pay his salary. And then I would sign Bedard and Harden (backup plans of Justin Duchscherer or Ben Sheets) as free agents. That gives you: 1 Vazquez 2 Gallardo 3 Harden 4 Bedard 5 Suppan OR 1 Gallardo 2 Arroyo 3 Harden (or Justin Duchscherer) 4 Bedard (or Ben Sheets) 5 Suppan I'd prefer Vazquez but I think that trade is harder to pull off. I think the most likely guys to be traded for this pitching we're going to acquire are Gamel or McGehee, Hart, and Parra.
  12. Is anyone still looking for a 20 pack ticket partner? I would like to split a pack in the Terrace Box ($17 per ticket per game or $340 for 10 games/2 tickets) if anyone is interested. I'm looking to do 2 tickets per game in the Terrace Box to 10 games, pretty much every Saturday home game. Not sure if I can find someone that wouldn't want to go to the Saturday games, but if you're out there, PM me or email me at thesaltshakersband@yahoo.com. I'd really like to be able to pick my 10 games this year and I'm pretty sure that's not an option with the 9-packs.
  13. I can't remember... is there an option to pick all 9 or 10 of your games if you do the 9/10pack? Or do you have to go with one of the packages? And if you can't pick your games... anyone interested in splitting a 20 pack in the Terrace Box or Terrace Reserve? My girlfriend and I are looking to go to 9 or 10 Saturdays this coming season.
  14. As soon as I saw the title to this thread I thought... "The Old Fashioned". Outstanding restaurant... and easily the BEST fried cheese curds I have ever had. Ever.
  15. The new Julian Casablancas album is pretty good, especially the first 3 tracks. After that it gets a lot less Strokes-ish and a lot more experimental, but it's worth looking into.
  16. Domino's is my favorite chain pizza. True story.
  17. I love Gallardo but there is no point in locking him in beyond 2013. Why not just pay as we go with no risk to owe him money years after he's done pitching for us? He could have Tommy John next year and we'd be on the hook for tens of millions of dollars. If we pay as we go we can always just cut ties the next year should an injury occur.
  18. I've been listening to the new Tegan and Sara that comes out this Tuesday and I like it quite a bit. Seems more catchy than the Con, which I liked but took some time to grow on me. Also, check out my band's new album if you like guitar-pop. It is shamelessly linked in my sig http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. I would do the initial rumored deal in an instant. Got my hopes up a little bit when I started reading this!
  20. i haven't seen a show I liked this much in a long time. The "cool dad" character has a lot of Michael Scott in him - he's great. And Gloria is smokin. Great show.
  21. I heard that interview and Witrado was quite clearly just stirring the pot. There is no substance to what he said. Braun might be unhappy? Well I'm sure that's true because his team ended up not doing well. It's also true that the sky is blue. I believe he also said "His contract is very tradeable". You think so? His contract is also very keep-able. Witrado is a horrible journalist and I can't believe he still has his job.
  22. I thought that was the best episode of the season last night. It got REALLY awkward during the toasting scene and reminded me of the British version. Really great episode. I missed the new Community but I will agree that each episode has been better than the previous one.
  23. glad to hear you're still doing okay, squirrelly.
  24. I could use some advise on this topic, too. Do you always have to pay mileage when renting a vehicle? My band is palying in Minneapolis and I was thinking about renting a minivan... but paying mileage for Milwaukee to Minneapolis would be expensive.
  25. Thanks for the kind words, guys... it's always a little nerveracking when the album is first coming out so it's great to hear some enouragement. Thanks again. And Heathrow is awesome! Their new album is great if you don't have it yet, better than their previous one. And they're great guys, too.
