  1. Although Turnbow is my least favorite Brewer, I don't really see the point of dealing him to the Tigers right now. Didn't they pretty much empty their tank of prospects to get Cabrera? Turnbow can be Elmer Dessens this year and I have no problem with it.
  2. Cordero isn't injury prone like Sheets. And yes I agree with you 100%... if I had to do a big contract like that I'd take Sheets over Cordero in a heartbeat just because an ace is much more valuable than a closer to me. But it's probably not a smart investment to put 60 mil into a guy with the injury history of Ben Sheets just because he has one full healthy year. And once Sheets is gone the team can get over this "we can't win without a healthy Sheets" mentality that I think they have. That's the good thing about the situation. For the past 3 years every MLB preview article written says something along the lines of "if Sheets is healthy, the Brewers can contend/win the division". I think a lot of the team actually believes that themselves and doesn't think they can do it without him. And that's not good when he hasn't pitched a full season in 2 or 3 years.
  3. Ben Sheets is going to get a minimum of 15 mil per year. Even if he goes the entire year healthy with an ERA of 3, they are going to be very hesitant to pay 15 mil a year to a guy that has the injury plagued past that he has. And when I say 15 mil a year, that is an absolute MINIMUM... even if he gets hurt again this year. It will probably be more than that if he DOESN'T get hurt this year. Most of us don't WANT to see him go, but I really believe that you are fooling yourself or in denial if you think he's going to stay here and take 10 mil a year or something like that. That's a pretty hefty "hometown discount" and it's not going to happen. The Mets, Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, etc etc may be able to afford to make a 4 year 60 million dollar mistake, but the Brewers cannot.
  4. Sheets will continue to be in baseball, but not with the Brewers. If he gets hurt and doesn't produce this year, we won't want to give him the money he can get elsewhere. If he's outstanding, he's out of our price range. What type of hometown discount do you really expect? I doubt the Brewers are willing to pay him more than Suppan-like money (IF that - with his injury history), and he will get much more elsewhere. On an unrelated note, after watching Yost's post-game interview... the guy scares me. He seems really on edge even after we win a game easily. Must be all the coffee.
  5. Hopefully it won't be until early November agreed
  6. It will be a bittersweet goodbye to Sheets after this year if he puts in a full healthy productive this year.
  7. I would feel more comfortable with an 8-10 run lead.
  8. I was very excited about our seemingly improved defense until today.
  9. I may be wrong here, but isn't it a violation for players to chew tobacco during games or have chew with them? I could've just heard that somewhere, but I'm curious what the deal is.
  10. I have no hate for Pedro, only the $$$Mets$$$. Anything bad that happens to them helps level the playing field.
  11. I'm playing the world's smallest violin as we speak
  12. Maybe it's the fact that the rest of the infield was so bad, but Hardy was AWFUL on D at shortstop last year... I believe he was ranked 3rd from the bottom in the league. He's the one that's going to move to 3B or 2B if he's around when Escobar comes up.
  13. It's more like 5 1/2 pitchers. Sheets doesn't count as 1, either.
  14. I had the flu and missed a full week of work (I am usually there every single day), and came back this past week STILL not feeling 100%. So it is possible that that's all it is... it's just been really brutal this year and can take awhile to leave your system.
  15. i'm having a hard time getting past the cutesy graphics. I've owned this game for a couple months now. Is it even better than MVP 05? I sure do like MVP 05...
  16. i'm in milwaukee, but i don't think it's gonna be HD here either but i'm hoping i'm wrong. it's too bad that FSN HD never actually says what's on it on the guide screen for time warner.
  17. Pretty excited for the game tonight. Any chance it's in HD? I'm a little worried it won't be.
  18. please tell me this game will be in HD. it's too bad the first time of the year on TV has Vargas starting, but at least the game will last a long time!
  19. i'm in, too. thanks for doing this, it's very nice of ya.
  20. Tito, I gave Tim your email address, he should be contacting you shortly regarding selling it back to you.
  21. Thanks for the endorsement, chuckie. I'm glad you liked the show.
  22. I also live a block from the BBC, I'll have to give those a chance too... but there's no way they will top Points East. Points East is the best by far. I wasn't even a "wing guy" and they converted me.
  23. I just read Soriano broke his finger. How do you break your finger and only miss 5 days? I don't get it.
  24. why aren't the spring training games against the Royals for sale today? It doesn't make much sense that the games BEFORE those two and AFTER those two are on sale, but not those two. Anyone know the scoop?
