  1. C.C. Sabathia, reportedly on the block by the deadline. Would you give up Gamel plus a SP for him?
  2. Sure, why not? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. So, outside of being chastised for my opinion of Green's projectability, can someone answer my question? Can he play any shortstop?
  4. I don't think he'd been throwing that hard the whole time, Al. I think it's just recently that he's made the transition to relieving rather than pacing himself over a long period of time, and now he's just "letting it loose" more often. Also I think those radar guns are a bit high. He's low 90's.
  5. I doubt that. There's not a sure fire proepect in that bunch. That guy is on the hot seat enough as it is than to trade an ace caliber pitcher for a bunch of spare parts.
  6. brettac- I can get down with that rationale, but how hard is it to sit a player down and inform them that there's been a role change? I just feel a good manager is a good communicator above all else. Maybe I'm nitpicking, but it's just another signal to me. If I was the manager, I'd sit down with Hall and tell him how he could help the team win more games in a platoon situation at third and acting as a super utility player against RHP.
  7. Is Washburn better than Parra? He certainly can get deeper into games, and maybe this would be something to look at around the deadline as a way to manage Parra's innings.
  8. Exactly my point. I was trying to point out that if Linebrink is worth "10", then Sheets is worth "20". And I think it might be hard to get his worth in a package deal, considering what we had to give up to get a middle reliever last season. Sheets is going to be the top player on the market, if he is on the market.
  9. He projects to be a solid utility infielder. Can he play SS at all?
  10. I've often looked at Dillard as a big part of our bullpen's future. Now that he's here, and the early returns (though small sample) are promising, I couldn't be happier that they finally brought him up. Now gimme Pena and Aguilar, please.
  11. Bill Hall not happy: Yet another sign that Yost's communication skills are lacking with this club. I take Hall's comments as a complete lack of surprise that Yost hadn't talked to him.
  12. I think his increased velocity and effectiveness are directly correlated to his conversion to reliever. This is his zone. Why can't we just be satisfied with actually having a reliever on the roster who shows promise? I mean, we need relievers in a bad way, right? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. his fielding percentage has improved significantly, so it represents a significant increase over last year, even if his total numbers are Braun-esque. Hall also has 11 errors.. Anyways, I believe most of those errors came in April (I could be wrong, but it seems he's been at 11 for some time). http://logo.cafepress.com/8/1971856.5157478.jpg
  14. Yeah, DM was of the opinion that all this team needed was some short term vets to turn it into a playoff team. Gagne, Mota, Torres, Kendall, Cameron. And now Tavarez. Exactly. It hasn't worked out the way they wanted because they forgot one underlying principle: Veteran doesn't always mean good.
  15. Considering the haul we paid for Linebrink, what does that make the market on Sheets? And how many teams have a package like that. Would the Angels give up Adenhart, Wood, Conger for Sheets?? Doubtful, and that's the problem.
  16. Did Gamel become a good defender and I missed it? Last time I checked he had 11 errors in 49 games (162 game projection: 36 errors). That's an improvement on last year, surely, but still Ryan Braun-esque in the field. Ouch.
  17. They have become strangely consumed with "veterans" this season.
  18. Here it is, in my opinion: 1B Prince Fielder (i think the Brewers will trade him in the 2009-2010 offseason) 2B Hernan Irribarren (i love the kids intangibles. He's not a "stud" by any means but this club lacks "glue" players and I feel "The Hurricane" can solidify our infield defense and do the winning things that we need) SS J.J. Hardy (Escobar bears no threat to him at all. I strongly question whether Escobar will ever hit enough to be a major league player, at this point I feel a "best case" comparison is Cesar Izturis) 3B Rickie Weeks (He's got the arm. He struggles with the turn at second base. I think his defensive skills have always been best suited to third base). Chances I think this will happen? Zero. But, if I were in charge of the Brewers this is what I'd do. More likely? Fielder, Weeks, Hardy and a trade pickup at third base. Hall is getting more and more frustrated and I believe he'll be traded away.
  19. That would be my guess as well. They speculated it would be DiFilice if it wasn't Gagne to the DL. Still looking for a link on this.
  20. Seriously, what would be the risk in giving Weaver a chance and sending Bush back down for a while?
  21. Just reported on WSSP. Edit: Title update. - Toby
  22. Maybe I blame Fielder a lot for Gallardo's loss. He is so clumsy over there. It's real bad.
  23. No, we need to decide now before it's too late. Now's the time to be buyers. I couldn't disagree with HTR more.
  24. Why aren't the Brewers contenders? It's not even June yet, we've played the toughest schedule in MLB. Padres are way out of it. Wouldn't Greg want to try to end his career with his brother, with a contender? Could he be the Don Sutton to Ted Simmons' Kuenn? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
