  1. Bases loaded.Nobody out. This is a bit of a hole.
  2. Rick Helling could not: 1. Get the ball over the plate if he used a beach ball 2. Throw with any heat if he set the ball on fire. 3. Fool a hitter if he had David Copperfield on the hill with him. 4. Win a game if spotted a 10 run lead. 5. Break 85 MPH if he drove the ball around in his car. 6. Have good command if he were in charge of a Girl Scout Troop. 7. "Go the distance" in a 2 meter race. 8. Intimidate a 4 year old. 9. Paint the corners with a power sprayer. 10. Get hot if he were standing on the equator wearing a fur coat.
  3. well this stinks. My little girl throws a fit when I turn off JJ the Jet Plane to watch the Crew. I can either go into the other room, or sit here watch her shows (Arthur is next) and watch MLB gameday. I'm not getting up. I'm too comfy.
  4. Badgers with the upset. 23-20 over #14 Michigan, who will not be #14 when they wake up in the morning.
  5. Touchdown Badgers! 23-20 WI with 0:24 left in the game!
  6. Man, I was going to go to the ame but ended up staying home to smoke some ribs on the grill. I dept saying that "I'm gald we're not going, it's gonna suck. Glover has no chance against Mulder and the Cards offense. I'm going to keep saying that for the evening. BTW: Laura- it looks like you guys got to see a pretty game as well. Did you or Tom win anything?
  7. LHP Mark Mulder ? 16-7, 3.43 ERA in 2005 ? 1-0, 1.29 ERA vs. MIL in 2 MIL: RHP Gary Glover ? 3-4, 6.70 ERA in 2005 ? Has not faced STL Did the Brewers save some offense for Gary Glover? On Friday, they erupted for nine runs in the span of three innings against Chris Carpenter, a pitcher whom many consider the frontrunner for the National League Cy Young Award. It does not get much easier on Saturday, when the Cardinals send out lefty Mark Mulder against Glover, who returns to the Brewers starting rotation after pitching parts of the last four months for Triple-A Nashville. Glover went 6-4 with a 3.03 ERA for Nashville, then went 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA during the team's playoff run that ended with a Pacific Coast League title. He has not started against the Cardinals since June 2001, an Interleague game in which Glover appeared for the White Sox in relief. Over his last six starts, Mulder has not allowed more than two runs in any game and has gone at least seven innings every time. He's permitted a total of one homer over those games, and in none of them has he walked more than two. Moreover, he's only gone past 100 pitches once in those six games. What's not to like?
  8. Just got back from the game. I want to thank Terry (don't know if I should give his screen name) I bought his seats. We were 2nd row right behind the visitors on deck circle. Around the fifth inning, the family in front of us left, so we moved down to the front row. You -really- need to keep an eye on the ball sitting there- ticks or odd hops come in pretty hot, some lady two rows behind us to our left took one in the melon. Lots of souvenir balls given out to our row. (all kids) the lady to my right had a ball bounce off the dirt, into the bottom half of the railing, off the top of the padding, to the bottom of the railing again and land right in her daughter's glove which was laying on the ground at her feet. I saw things of a game I've never seen before. We saw into the dugout and caught signs. I could hear some of the on deck hitters cut the air with their practice swings. I saw Benji Molina take a pounding behind the plate: man, that poor dude is gonna be hurting later tonight or tomorrow. Mary wished Pujols luck in their playoff run and said she thought the cards would win the World Series, but he didn't respond. I told Grudzielanek I wished him well in the playoffs and he looked back at me nodded his head and said "thanks". Cool. Nothing major, but cool. I hope the Cards rep the NL Central well in the playoffs. I could hear the ump make all the calls, I could really see the pitches come in, and got sight lines and sounds of the game you just don't get in other locations. For the cost of those seats I half expected to hear better baseball conversation, but it didn't quite happen. Oh well, Mary and I totally appreciated what we had. My thanks again to Terry.
  9. I'll be at the game tonight with brewermary15. We got tickets for DB 120 Row 2 seats 7 & 8. Stop by and say hello. I've never sat in such nice seats and I'm looking forward to it.
  10. Well, it's worked the past two starts, so: Rick Helling could not: 1.
  11. How does that Golden Earing song go? "Well it's 2 am something something and the bullett hit the bone." Yup I'm GP'd like a mutha.

  14. Patrick thanks for the help, I think I'm getting it. I'll have to look at it again to re-learn some of it after my head stops hurting....
  15. Not happening, no way, no how man, I wish that I could produce for you the ALCS of last year.
  16. Well, this is going to suck. I have NO confidence about today -at all- Helling has no business whatsoever being a starter. I think we're gonna get killed. Sorry. Hey, this worked last time. Helling had a great game, so I figured i'd try it again.
  17. Thanks for the list Patrick. Seems odd to me that a team tht very well could win their division would pick ahead of a team that did not make the post season, but oh well. Could you explain type A or B free agents to me? I don't hang out in these parts too often ya know.
  18. Man, after that last AZ hit I felt like someone stuck a shiv into my ribs. Oh well, at least the Crew crushed in the rubber match and are back at 5 hundo.
  19. What are the odds of Brainerd getting electrocuted holding that microphone in the pool?
