  2. Somebody needs to find a girlfriend. That's what girlfriend/wives are for when you can't find some buddies to go. They have no choice but to take in your mindless ramblings for the night. If I found a girlfriend, my wife would kill me. She actually -does- have a choice of listening to my babbling, that's why she handed me $15 and said to go away. bruno's is the one that used to be harpo's, right? No, but it's very close-- just a few doors to the west.
  3. Speaking of strong beers, a co-worker of mine is having a moving party this weekend (Jamie, this is the guy I know that lives right by you on Arlington, so listen for the noise across from the park), and asked me if I knew where he could buy a 1/4 barrel of Delirium Tremens. I just fell in love with your co-worker and would like to volunteer to protect the beer from unwanted passers by. I feel I can best do this by sitting in a folding chair next to the Delirium Tremens while holding a constantly full cup. I'd imagine that I'd then be able to load a few boxes onto on of the pink elephants backs with a smile on my face and a smile in my heart. edit: Patrick- you do know I'll be walking up and down Arlington looking for you. (now if I could just remember what the hell ya look like)
  4. OK- I've begged and pleaded severaltimes now. I'm not going to do it again if there's no interest: Does anyone want to go to a bar this evening to watch the game? I'm thinking of going to Bruno's on Brady Street. I'll be there a little after 10 p.m. It'll be obvious who I am by my apparel. TO make it even more enticing, it's $2 bottle night.
  5. we have a half barrel of point amber cooling in our keg-fridge right now. My neighbor has a half barrel of Riverwest Stein in his keg-er-ator right now, at least whatever is left of it anyhow. We hit that bad boy last night after the Crew hit .500. I got home at 2:30 in the morning.
  6. Pitching matchup MIL: LHP Doug Davis ? 10-10, 3.93 ERA in 2005 ? Has not faced ARI in 2005 ARI: RHP Brandon Webb ? 12-11, 3.84 ERA in 2005 ? 0-1, 6.00 ERA vs. MIL in 2005 If Davis can beat Brandon Webb and the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, the Brewers will push above .500 this late in a season for the first time since 1992. That was the last season Milwaukee enjoyed a winning record. I feel good with Hawing's favorite taking the hill tonight. Quick hits Lyle Overbay is 4-for-8 in his matchups against Webb with a double and a home run. ... Brady Clark has hit safely in nine straight games. ... With his 32nd save on Tuesday, Derrick Turnbow tied Mike Fetters for fifth on the franchise's single-season saves list. ... Jenkins and Carlos Lee have combined on two of the Brewers' three back-to-back homer pairs this season. They went deep on consecutive pitches in the sixth inning of Tuesday's game. Arizona pitchers have surrendered back-to-back homers six times this season. And proving that steroids are not the only substance the MLB should be testing for: Arizona is 65-80
  7. Don't forget to stop by the chatroom everybody.
  8. Royce CLayton is batting leadoff? Ho- Lee- Cow!
  9. but this is the series where the Brewers get over .500 and stay there. Now you've done it. hey Princehall-- sorry man, we seemed to post at the same time. I just added that whole rookie hazing thingy because I too am dressed like a Hooters Girl right now. I mean...um..er... no I'm not.
  10. Rookies had a hand in all four Brewers runs Sunday, and what was their reward? One incredibly uncomfortable flight to Phoenix. Jose Capellan, Dana Eveland, Prince Fielder, J.J. Hardy, Corey Hart and Rickie Weeks returned to their lockers after Sunday's 4-2 win over the Astros and found their street clothes missing. Someone had replaced their suits with skin-tight, sleeveless tops and short-shorts from a restaurant/bar known for its great chicken wings, among other things. Perhaps dressed like Hooters Girls? Capuano is already the Brewers' first 16-game winner in a dozen years, but he's aiming for more. With four scheduled starts remaining, the left-hander still has a chance to be the Brewers' first 20-game winner in 20 seasons. Vazquez has lost his last 5 straight decisions. Pitching matchup MIL: LHP Chris Capuano ? 16-9, 3.63 ERA in 2005 ? 0-0, 1.80 ERA vs. ARI in 2005 ARI: RHP Javier Vazquez ? 10-14, 4.74 ERA in 2005 ? Has not faced MIL in 2005 Brady Clark has hit safely in eight straight games. ... Weeks was 1-for-10 in last week's series at Cincinnati, but he went 5-for-10 against the Astros with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs Vazquez last faced the Brewers on Aug. 2, 2003. Over his last five starts against Milwaukee, he is 2-1 with a 1.89 ERA and just two walks in 38 innings.
  11. Being the responsible BF.Netter that I am, I decided to reinstate this thread in the appropriate manner. I am drunk now.
  12. Oh, I feel that I must add something to the attendance talk. I agree with you. Today's showing was pretty weak. As a matter of fact, the entire weekend series was pathetic: Houston is in town, we were wtill mathamatically in the WC hunt, and we faces Clemens, Pettite, and Oswalt. I wanted to catch all three games, but could not. As for Scoop thinking I was just bashing the crew: I thought you must have known I was just reverse jinxing them. I seem to have the unique ability to bash the team or players and they then have a huge game.
  13. I think I'm going to call the Brewers and ask that they add my name to their write up of today's game. Instead of Rick & Rickie show, It should read Brewerjamie15 comes through again and the Crew racks up a W. :-)
  14. Cmon, why start a game thread with "this is gonna suck"? This is known as the reverse jinx. I'm pulling out all the weapons for this game.
  15. Rick Helling could not: 1. Get the ball over the plate if he used a beach ball 2. Throw with any heat if he set the ball on fire. 3. Fool a hitter if he had David Copperfield on the hill with him. 4. Win a game if spotted a 10 run lead. 5. Break 85 MPH if he drove the ball around in his car. 6. Have good command if he were in charge of a Girl Scout Troop. 7. "Go the distance" in a 2 meter race. 8. Intimidate a 4 year old. 9. Paint the corners with a power sprayer. 10. Get hot if he were standing on the equator wearing a fur coat.
  16. Well, this is going to suck. I have NO confidence about today -at all- Helling has no business whatsoever being a starter. I think we're gonna get killed. Sorry. Rick Helling will aim for his first win as a starter in more than two years when the Brewers and Astros meet in the rubber match of a three-game series at Miller Park on Sunday. The hurler will match up against Astros right-hander Roy Oswalt, who is 14-5 with a 2.83 ERA in 22 career starts in September, including wins in 10 of his last 11 September decisions. Helling, a Major League veteran who spent most of the 2005 season in the Minors, is winless in his three Brewers starts since moving from the bullpen to the starting rotation, but has improved each time out. Helling's best start was his most recent one, when he pitched five innings in Cincinnati, allowing no runs and four hits. Helling was lifted in favor of a pinch-hitter because the Brewers were looking to spark a quiet offense. Helling's last start against the Astros was on June 27, 2002, when he pitched for the Arizona Diamondbacks. His 91 career wins are the most by any Brewers starter. Pitching matchup HOU: RHP Roy Oswalt ? 17-11, 2.84 ERA in 2005 ? 1-1, 1.20 ERA in 2005 vs. MIL MIL: RHP Rick Helling ? 1-0, 3.13 ERA in 2005 ? 0-0, 0.00 ERA in 2005 vs. HOU "We're starting to pick it up a little offensively. Doug [Davis] is mixing in some hits. 'Cappy' [Chris Capuano] is mixing in some hits. Helling can swing it." -- Brewers manager Ned Yost, on his pitchers' hitting prowess. Brewers pitchers rank last in the National League in batting.
  17. Yup. I went. I asked folks to go as a BF.Net gathering and ended up with only a friend of mine. If you thought about taking me up on my offer bf.net gathering) and didn't, you missed a great game. One heck of a game.
  18. Just tuned in. Glad to see we can still bash each other during a 14-5 blowout. Sweet. C'mon guys we're crushing the Reds! Hardy is having a career game (had) stop the simpering.
  19. dont forget about the chatroom fellas.
  20. Taking the mound for the Brewers will be right-hander Rick Helling, who will make his third start of the season for the club. Helling has yet to pick up a decision this season as a starter, but in his last start he went 6 1/3 innings while giving up two runs. Opposing Helling will be fellow right-hander Aaron Harang. Harang hasn't faced the Brewers yet this season. Pitching matchup MIL: RHP Rick Helling ? 1-0, 4.00 ERA in 2005 ? 0-0, 0.00 ERA vs. CIN in 2005 CIN: RHP Aaron Harang ? 9-12, 3.68 ERA in 2005 ? 2-1, 5.32 ERA vs. MIL in 2004 Quick hits Carlos Lee extended his hitting streak to eight games Monday night. In that span, he's batting .333 (10-for-30). ... Dana Eveland recorded his first Major League save Monday night Quotable "Every time you play, some days guys have your number. That's the way baseball is. But you can't go up there defeated already before the game's even started." -- Brandon Claussen, on his approach Player to watch Adam Dunn. With Ken Griffey Jr. listed as day-to-day with a foot injury, Dunn moved up to the three spot in the order Monday and hit his 36th homer of the season. He's on pace to become the first player in franchise history to produce two consecutive seasons of 100 runs, 100 RBIs and 100 walks. Player to watch Geoff Jenkins is coming off one of his best nights of the season after tying a career high with five hits on Monday. In his career, he's batting .308 (4-for-13) with a double and a home run off Harang.
  21. I was wondering why it took this Chris Booker dude 10 years to get to the bigs. Now I see why. Started out sharp and simply imploded.
  22. Jenks with the five hit night. Wow.
  23. hey is Fan Fest 2 still on or not.. anyone know for SURE? Napes. It got nixed by Shannon because it opposed a Badger Football game. However: I think I'm gonna see what we can do as far as a BYOB&Food type thing. I'll think about it and the things involved and post it shortly.
  24. Looks like some show called '2005 a season on the Wire' is after the game. what is it?
